UPSC CSE Main Examination 2024


Following the successful completion of the preliminary round, the Civil Services (Main) Examination was held from September 20 to September 29, 2024.

The result of the UPSC Civil Services Mains Examination 2024 is currently awaited, with the final stage— the Personality Test or Interview—scheduled after the result announcement.

UPSC CSE Mains Examination 2023 Result


The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) had announced the Mains examination result on 8th December 2023. The commission conducted the Civil Services Mains Examination 2023 from 15th to 24th September. As per official records, 14,624 candidates had appeared for the UPSC Mains exam 2023 and roughly 3000 had qualified for Interview.

UPSC CSE Exam Pattern


The Union Public Service Commission conducts the Civil Services Exam (CSE) every year for candidates who wish to join the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Revenue Service (IRS), and other central Group A and B services.

As per the UPSC CSE exam pattern, there are a total of three stages of the UPSC CSE exam recruitment process. These are the Civil Services Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and the Interview/Personality Test. The preliminary examination consists of two papers of objective type (multiple choice questions) and carries a maximum of 400 marks. This examination is meant to serve as a screening test only; the marks obtained in the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination by the candidates who are declared qualified for admission to the Civil Services (Main) examination will not be counted for determining their final order of merit. The Civil Services (Main) examination will consist of a written examination and an interview/personality test. The written examination will consist of 9 papers of conventional essay type. Out of the nine papers, two papers will be of qualifying in nature. Marks obtained for all the compulsory papers (Paper-I to Paper-VII) and marks obtained in interview are counted for ranking. The interview carries 275 marks (with no minimum qualifying marks). Each candidate is eligible for six attempts while the SC/ST category candidates are allowed unlimited attempts and OBC candidates are allowed nine attempts each. UPSC has released the exam calendar for the 2025 recruitment cycle.
