Modern Cities will settle on the Banks of Rapid Rail and Metro

Why In News?

According to the information received from the media on May 30, 2023, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to set up modern cities in all those cities which are connected by rapid rail and metro rail. Apart from Lucknow, these include Kanpur, Agra, Meerut and Ghaziabad.

  • Modern cities will be built in these cities on both sides of the rapid rail and metro. Arrangements will be made for big hotels, apartments with all facilities, multi level parking, parks etc.
  • Keeping in view the intention of the government, the Housing Department has instructed the development authorities of these cities to prepare Zonal Development Plans. Along with this, proposals have also been sought from all the development authorities in this regard.
  • In a directive issued by Additional Chief Secretary Housing Nitin Ramesh Gokarn, it has been said that Uttar Pradesh Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Policy-2022 has been issued for the purpose of setting up a modern city.
  • It aims to facilitate more construction on less land, residential as well as commercial construction and land-use conversion to facilitate need-based construction in metro and rapid rail cities.

Buildings of all Medical College Hospitals of Bihar will be of Same colour

Why In News?

According to information received from the media on May 30, 2023, the Bihar Health Department has directed to paint the buildings of all medical college hospitals in the state in a uniform color under 'Mission Parivartan'. Its model has been considered to be Bhagwan Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences, Pawapuri (BIMS).

  • It is known that 'Mission Parivartan' is being run in the medical college hospitals of Bihar. Its objective is to make all the Medical College Hospitals of the State gleaming.
  • Along with cleanliness, the department is trying to ensure that the look of all the medical college hospitals is uniform. Any patient can be easily identified on the basis of color from a distance while coming to the medical college hospitals.
  • The health department under 'Mission Parivartan' has started all 10 medical college hospitals of the state- Patna Medical College Hospital, Nalanda Medical College Hospital, Sri Krishna Medical College Hospital, Muzaffarpur, GMC, Bettiah, Darbhanga Medical College Hospital, JLNMCH Bhagalpur, GMC, Purnea, JNKTMCH , Madhepura and ANMCH, Gaya have been directed to paint the buildings in the same colour.
  • Its model has been considered to be Bhagwan Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences Pawapuri (BIMS). Now the buildings of all the medical colleges will be painted in the same color as the buildings of BIMS.
  • It is worth mentioning that before this, under 'Mission 60 Day', all the district hospitals of the state were also ordered to be painted in the same color. The buildings of all the district hospitals in the state have been painted in one colour. Extending this formula, instructions have now been given to paint buildings and wards of medical colleges in a uniform colour.
  • Similarly, all Medical College Hospitals have been instructed to identify old buildings which cannot be used anymore. Also, action should be taken to raze such buildings through BMSICL.

Augustine George Masih became the 41st Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court

Why In News?

On May 30, 2023, Governor Kalraj Mishra administered the oath of office to Justice Augustine George Masih as the Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court at the Raj Bhavan. Justice Augustin George Masih was sworn in as the 41st Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court.

  • Justice Augustin George Masih, former judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, took the oath in the English language.
  • At the beginning of the function, Rajasthan Chief Secretary Usha Sharma read out the appointment notification and warrant issued by President Draupadi Murmu for the appointment of Chief Justice.
  • It is known that Justice Masih was born on March 12, 1963 in Ropar, Punjab. She did her early schooling at St. Mary's Convent School, Kasauli (HP) and then completed her schooling from Saifuddin Tahir High School, Aligarh.
  • Justice Augustine George Masih has also practiced in the Supreme Court, Punjab and High Courts of many states including Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh. He also held the posts of Assistant Advocate General, Deputy Advocate General and Additional Advocate General.
  • Justice Masih was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on July 10, 2008. He was sworn in as a permanent judge on January 14, 2011.

Knowledge Hub Inaugurated at Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal

Why In News?

On May 30, 2023, Madhya Pradesh's Medical Education Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang and Health Minister Dr. Prabhuram Chaudhary inaugurated the Knowledge Hub for capacity building for control and prevention of beta thalassemia and hemoglobinopathy at Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal.

  • Medical Education Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang said that the knowledge hub would help in identification, treatment and prevention of various blood disorders including beta thalassemia.
  • Minister Sarang informed that a knowledge hub has been set up at Gandhi Medical College in collaboration with Eco India under State Hemoglobinopathy Mission of National Health Mission. With this, training sessions have been started for the initial group of 150 doctors in 50 districts of the state in the capacity enhancement program of doctors focused on beta thalassemia and hemoglobinopathy.
  • He said that the inclusion of medical as well as engineering in medical education would help doctors from remote areas in the treatment of serious diseases. It will also enhance the skill of the clinicians in screening, early diagnosis, treatment and overall genetic blood disorders.
  • Health Minister Dr. Chaudhary said that in the mission to eradicate sickle cell, a system of screening, referral and management of people suffering from sickle cell anemia, thalassemia and other hemoglobinopathies disorders has been established. In the first phase of the mission, a pilot project is being run in two tribal-dominated districts of the state, Jhabua and Alirajpur.
  • Significantly, beta thalassemia is a serious genetic blood-borne disease, also known as porter anemia. Due to this, the access of oxygen to the cells of the body decreases. Young children are most at risk of this.
  • It originates from an abnormality in human genes. If either of the parents of the newborn is suffering from thalassemia, then there is a 25 percent chance of the baby also having this disease. If both parents are affected by the disease, then the child has a 50 percent chance of having it. With timely diagnosis and treatment, the patient can be saved.

Formation of State Youth Advisory Council

Why In News?

On May 30, 2023, the State Youth Advisory Council was constituted under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister to give advice on the state's youth policy and youth-related matters.

  • Sports and Youth Welfare Minister and Chairman M.P. Youth Commission has been made ex-officio vice-chairman. The Principal Secretary will be the Member Secretary of the Sports and Youth Welfare Council.
  • Members of the council include Mr. Meghdeep Bose, Anubhav Dubey, Suryapal Singh, Prateek Sancheti, Dr. Secretary Sharma, Sonu Golkar, Kartik Sapre, Mrs. Aditi Jhanwar, Dr. Tejal Shah Parulkar, Vinayak Lohani, Ms. Himadri Singh, Ashutosh Singh Thakur and Gajendra Singh Tomar is included.

Rare ' Mouse Deer ' Seen in Kanger Ghati National Park

According to the information given by the Chhattisgarh Public Relations Department on May 30, 2023, the picture of the now rare species 'mouse deer' has been captured in the camera trap in the famous Kanger Valley National Park located in Bastar.

  • Recently, along with the return of the endangered wild wolves in the Kanger Valley National Park, the sweet voice of Chhattisgarh's state bird 'Hill Myna' has also started echoing in the villages adjacent to it.
  • This shows the positive result of the work being done for the safe habitat of wildlife by the initiative of the Forest Department. The habitat of rare species has been protected by Kanger Valley National Park Management by continuously working towards the conservation of wildlife.
  • Director of Kanger Valley National Park Dhammasheel Ganveer said that employment has been provided to the local youth as patrolling guards by the National Park Management, due to which wildlife habitat is being conserved by continuous patrolling and monitoring. Along with this, an increase in the number of wild animals is being seen due to the participation of the villagers adjacent to the national park.
  • It is noteworthy that out of 12 species of deer found in India, mouse deer is one of the smallest deer group species in the world.
  • The habitat of Indian mouse deer is especially in dense bushes and moist forests. Mouse deer show a mixture of mouse-pig and deer appearance and size and are the only group of deer without antlers.
  • Due to the shy behavior and nocturnal activity of mouse deer, special research has not been done about them. The presence of mouse deer has been recorded mainly in the tropical moist deciduous forests of South Asia and Southeast Asia.
  • The Indian mouse deer population is probably facing a serious threat from wildfires, increasing encroachment and hunting pressure. At present efforts are needed to save these species.
  • Due to suitable habitat for such wildlife in Kanger Ghati National Park and the continuous awareness campaign for the protection of wildlife by the National Park Management and the participation of the local people, seeing the return of rare species like 'mouse deer', the state government The objective of wildlife conservation is being realized. This will attract tourists and the number of tourists in the national park will increase further.
