Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympic- 2022 Inaugurated at State Level

Why In News?

  • On August 29, 2022, on National Sports Day, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot inaugurated the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympics-2022, organized for the first time in the form of Mahakumbh of sports in Rajasthan, from village Pal of Luni Panchayat Samiti, Jodhpur.

Key Points

  • On the occasion of the inauguration of Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Olympics-2022, the Chief Minister made an ambitious announcement to organize Rural Olympic Games by ensuring the participation of municipal bodies in urban areas on the lines of rural areas for the development of sports and encouraging sports talent in the state.
  • Along with this, he also announced to organize the Rural Olympic Games every year, so that the interest in sports in rural areas remains and the practice period continues continuously.
  • He said that in these games, about 29 lakh 80 thousand players have registered for six sports simultaneously in a total of 11 thousand 285 gram panchayats of the state. They have formed 2 lakh 21 thousand 55 teams, including 20 lakh 37 thousand men and 10 lakh women players. These range from children to the elderly.
  • The Provisional Certificate of The Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympics-2022 was given to the Chief Minister after the Book of World Records was recorded in London for the participation of such a large number of players.

State's First GIS Ultra High Pressure Substation made in Indore

Why In News?

  • On August 29, 2022, Engineer Sunil Tiwari, Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company informed that Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company has innovated the state's first GIS (Gas Insulated Switch Gear) to provide strength and reliability to the transmission network of metropolitan Indore. sub-station) has been energized.

Key Points

  • Managing Director Sunil Tiwari said that in view of the increasing demand for electricity in Indore, Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company felt the need for construction of additional sub-stations in Indore city. Due to non-availability of sufficient land for construction of conventional sub-stations in dense population like Indore, Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company decided to prepare GIS sub-station (Gas Insulated Switch Gear Sub-station) at Indore.
  • 50 MVA in Mahalaxmi Nagar, Indore constructed at an estimated cost of about Rs.36 crore 50 lakh. This sub-station has been energized with capacity.
  • This is the first GIS of Madhya Pradesh. It is a very high-pressure sub-station, which is connected to the transmission network of Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company.
  • With the commissioning of this sub-station, the power transmission system in the eastern region of Indore has been strengthened, Indore has got another option of ultra-high-pressure sub-station.
  • GIS The construction of a substation requires less land than conventional air insulated substations. The budget for construction of sub-station with this technology is about two and a half times more than that of conventional sub-station, but Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company has approved this construction keeping in view the need of Indore. Being in a gas insulated chamber, the equipment of these substations is less prone to malfunction. These are also called 'maintenance free' sub-stations.

MoU signed between United Nations World Food Program (WFP) and Haryana

Why In News?

  • On August 29, 2022, an MoU was signed between the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and the Department of Foreign Cooperation of Haryana.

Key Points

  • The MoU was signed by Anant Prakash Pandey, Director General of the Department of Foreign Cooperation and Bishov Parajuli, Representative and Country-Director of the United Nations World Food Programme in India in the presence of Yogendra Chaudhary, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Foreign Cooperation.
  • The main objective of this agreement is to contribute to achieving the goals of food and nutrition security. This will improve mutual understanding and friendship for the strategic initiatives to be taken between WFP and the State of Haryana and strengthen mutual relations.
  • Before signing the MoU, Bishov Parajuli, Representative and Country Director of the United Nations World Food Programme, said the MoU is based on the 'Automated Grain Distribution Machine and 'Annapurti Programme' already running on a pilot basis between the World Food Programme and the Haryana government.
  • He said that through this partnership, we aim to bring together technical experts in this field for cross learning by sharing best practices in the field of food and nutritional security, among other activities.
  • Anant Prakash Pandey, Director General, Department of Foreign Cooperation, said on the occasion that WFP's global and national expertise will be leveraged through partnerships to achieve national goals for providing food security to the people and the Sustainable Development Goals.
  • He said the Haryana government, in collaboration with WFP, would explore other areas such as supply chain adaptation and implementation of public distribution system reforms, women empowerment including financial and social inclusion, climate adaptation and resilient food systems in which to move forward jointly.
  • Under this collaboration-framework, WFP will facilitate the transfer and exchange of knowledge, skills and expertise to strengthen existing capabilities and solidify existing systems by providing technical support. The duration of this partnership will be five years.

Haryana Government announces State Teacher Award-2021

Why In News?

  • On August 29, 2022, the Haryana government announced the State Teacher Award-2021. A total of 47 teachers will be given this award by the state government in a function organized on the occasion of Teacher's Day.

Key Points

  • An official spokesman said that out of the total 47 teachers selected for the State Teacher Award-2021, four principals, one head master of high school, 13 PGTs, four head masters of fundamental schools, two Sanskrit, three Hindi, two drawings, one science, two social studies, one DPE Two primary head masters and 12 primary school teachers.
  • These teachers include the maximum number of 10 teachers from Rewari district, followed by Bhiwani district with 7 teachers. Apart from this, 6 teachers from Sonipat district, 4 teachers each from Jhajjar and Karnal districts, 3 teachers each from Hisar, Fateha bad and Kurukshetra districts, 2 teachers each from Gurugram and Mahendragarh districts and 1 teacher each from Kaithal, Panipat and Charkhi-Dadri districts.
  • As an award, each awardee teacher will be given a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh, a silver medal, a certificate, a shawl and two advance increments including dearness allowance for future service.
  • It is noteworthy that the State Teacher Award is announced at the state level every year by the state government to honor the teachers who have made outstanding contributions in the field of education. The selection process is based on merit base.

CM releases Child Scientist Piyush's Research Book 'Velocity Mystery'

  • On August 29, 2022, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel released the research book 'Velocity Mystery' written by 14-year-old child scientist Piyush Jaiswal on astrophysics.

  • Child scientist Piyush Jaiswal has written this book as part of research work in astronomy. For this, he has been awarded the 'Golden Book of World Record Certificate' of the youngest astronomy writer.
  • The certificate of Golden Book of World Records was presented to child scientist and author Piyush Jaiswal before the Chief Minister.
  • It is noteworthy that Piyush Jaiswal, a resident of Gariaband district, has also obtained a PhD degree at the age of 13 from the recognized journal 'IJSER' of USA.

Chief Minister Udyman Khiladi Unnayan Yojana

Why In News?

  • On August 29, 2022, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched the Chief Minister Udyman Khiladi Unnayan Yojana' in the state at a program organized at Police Lines Dehradun on National Sports Day.

Key Points

  • The Chief Minister also made several other announcements while launching a sports scholarship of Rs 1500 per month to sportspersons in the age group of eight to 14 years in the program.
  • The Chief Minister said that a total of 3900 boys and girls will benefit from the 'Chief Minister Udyman Khiladi Unnayan Yojana'. After this, scholarships will also be given to players between 14 and 23 years of age. There will be a fresh attempt to implement four per cent reservation for sportspersons in government jobs as before.
  • The Chief Minister said that sports development fund will be set up in the state. Under this, eight sports coaches will be appointed in each district. Malkhamb game will be included in the policy. Along with this, the coaches who are contracted in the Sports Department will be given the same honorarium as the contract coaches of the Sports Authority of India.
  • Speaking at the event, Sports Minister Rekha Arya said the scholarships received by the sportspersons will depend on their talent. Sports scholarship is not a pension scheme, but it is being given for the encouragement of sportspersons.

Helipad and Heliport will be built at 33 New Tourist Places in the State

Why In News?

  • On August 29, 2022, Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Dr. SS Sandhu instructed the officials to build helipads and heliports at 33 tourist places to promote tourism in the state.

Key Points

  • In the meeting, the Chief Secretary said that apart from Chardham in the state, there is a lot of potential in the tourism sector due to the beauty and climate of the state. He directed to build more and more heliports and helipads in the state keeping in mind the tourists.
  • He said that there is a lot of potential for joy rides in the state. Along with this, schemes like Himalaya Darshan should be operated from as many places as possible.
  • The Chief Secretary said that while making the master plan of heliport and helipad, planning should be made keeping in view the future prospects and requirements. The traffic plan of these heliports and helipads should be made keeping in mind the traffic of the next 20, 25, 50 years.
  • He said that there is more potential for helipad and heliport in Ramnagar. He instructed DM Nainital to work on this on priority. He directed to construct two or more heliports or helipads in tourist places like Mussoorie, Nainital and Haridwar.
  • It was informed in the meeting that there is total 83 helipads in the state, out of which 51 are government and 32 are private. Work is underway on 22 helipads.
