Names of 29 Bihar Police Officers Recommended for President's Medal

Why In News?

  • On November 28, 2022, according to the information received from the media. The names of 29 police officers and personnel of the state have been recommended by the Bihar government for the President's Medal.

Key Points

  • The names of the police personnel who have been considered eligible for the medal to be given by the President on the occasion of Republic Day have been sent by the Bihar government to the Home Ministry. Among them, special and meritorious service medals have been recommended.
  • According to media reports, names of 7 police officers and personnel have been sent for Vishisht Seva Medal and 22 policemen for meritorious service. In the Vishisht Seva Medal category, the names of a total of seven officers include three IPS officers and four second-rank officers.
  • The names of IPS officers ADG Ravindran Shankaran, ADG Parasnath and ADG Bachchu Singh Meena and four second-rank officers Vinay Kumar Sharma, Binay Krishna, Dilip Kumar Singh and Ranjit Kumar have been recommended.
  • According to media reports, the names of the policemen who have been recommended for the Meritorious Service Medal are Rupesh Thapa, Sanjay Kumar Chaurasia, Sanjay Kumar, Mukhtar Ali, Dhananjay Kumar, Dharmaraj Sharma, Baidyanath Kumar, Alok Kumar, Akshaybar Pandey, Satyendra Kumar, Sikander Kumar, Panchratna Prasad Gond, Alamnath Bhuiya, Devendra Kumar, Santosh Kumar Dixit, Sanjay Kumar Shekhar, Sarwar Khan, Om Prakash Singh, Rasbihari Chaudhary and Vinay Kumar.
  • President's medals are given to police personnel twice every year. The names are finalized before Republic Day and Independence Day and the names of the selected policemen are announced. The names are recommended by the state government and central paramilitary forces to the Home Ministry and the screening committee under the ministry reviews it and selects the names for the medals.

Safety Against Violation and Exploitation of Children (SAVE)

Why In News?

  • On November 28, 2022, Rajasthan's Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Tikaram Jully launched the innovation 'Safety Against Violation and Exploitation of Children (SAVE)' as a pilot project from Alwar district of the state under the joint aegis of his department and UNICEF Rajasthan.

Key Points

  • Speaking on the occasion, Minister Tikaram Jully said that the objective of ‘SAVE’ innovation is to provide all kinds of basic facilities for the all-round development of children, mainly education, safety and health services.
  • He expressed hope that the campaign would be successful in Alwar. After that it will be implemented in the state. He said that Alwar district has been at the forefront of providing support to Divyanga's across the country by providing them benefits of government schemes through the Social Justice and Empowerment Department. The Alwar district administration and the office of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department of the district easily gave the benefit of schemes to the disabled people through the 'Nava Chaar Saksham Alwar' campaign.
  • On being apprised by the farmers about the difficulties faced in submitting the study certificate every year in the dialogue, the Minister said that a portal will be developed in this regard, in which once registered, repeated submission of study certificate will be relieved. On this portal, the concerned educational institutions will be able to auto-update online. This system will be implemented in the state as soon as possible.
  • In her address, UNICEF Rajasthan State Head Izabel said that Palanha scheme is proving to be helpful in realizing the dreams of children in the state. With this scheme, the needy children are getting opportunities to move forward through education along with protection and help.
  • He said that UNICEF is working for child welfare in collaboration with the state government in Rajasthan. The campaign 'SAVE', which was launched as a pilot project in Alwar under the joint aegis of social justice and empowerment department and UNICEF, will be implemented in collaboration with the district administration and its citizens.
  • Alwar District Chief Balbir Singh Chhillar said that the district administration and social justice and empowerment department in the district have set an example for the entire country in the field of Divyanga welfare by conducting a systematically competent Alwar campaign.
  • Alwar District Collector Jitendra Kumar Soni said that 21 thousand Palanhar pension and 29 thousand Divyangjan pension are connected in the district.
  • At the venue, 27 Divyangjans made the general public aware of the 27 flagship schemes of the state government through banners. Praising this initiative of the Divyangjan, Minister Julie said that with this step of this team of Divyangjan, the common people will also get information about the schemes of the state government, from which the needy people will be able to take advantage.

Madhya Pradesh Records Highest Demand of 15748 MW in History

Why In News?

  • On November 28, 2022, Madhya Pradesh Energy Minister Pradhuman Singh Tomar said that a new record of highest power demand was set on November 27 in the history of the state. On this day, the demand for electricity in the state was recorded at 15,748 MW. Earlier, the highest power demand in the state was recorded at 15,692 MW on December 24, 2021.

  • When the power demand in the state was recorded at 15,748 MW, Madhya Pradesh Eastern Region Power Distribution Company (Jabalpur, Sagar and Rewa divisions) had 4,319 MW, Madhya Pradesh Central Region Power Distribution Company (Bhopal and Gwalior Divisions) had 4,808 MW and Madhya Pradesh had 4,808 MW. The maximum demand of electricity was recorded at 6313 MW in the State Western Region Power Distribution Company (Indore and Ujjain divisions). Railways were given 308 MW power.
  • On November 27, when the demand for electricity was recorded at 15,748 MW, the production share of Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company's thermal and hydropower plants was 3,823 MW, Indira Sagar-Sardar Sarovar-Omkareshwar hydropower project's share was 820 MW, in the supply of electricity. The share of Central Sector was 4272 MW and that of IPP was 2521 MW. The state got 4311 MW electricity from other sources including renewable sources and banking.

Selection of Hazaribagh and Gumla for Tea Cultivation

Why In News?

  • On November 28, 2022, Deputy Director Horticulture Rajendra Kishore, in-charge of Demotand-based form, told that once again tea cultivation has started in Jharkhand. In the first phase, two districts of the state Hazaribagh and Gumla have been selected for this.

Key Points

  • Rajendra Kishore said that tea will be cultivated on a total of 65 acres (25 acres in Hazaribagh and 40 acres in Gumla) in both the districts. The work of planting a tea plant has started at the Demotand Farm of the Agriculture Department in Hazaribagh. In Gumla, the plant has not been planted there as the plot is not ready yet.
  • He said that the tea board members have recommended the possibility of tea cultivation in Jharkhand. A tea board team had visited several districts of the state in June this year. The team members have found Hazaribagh and Gumla favorable for the first phase. The soil and weather there are said to be favorable for tea cultivation. The tea board members will also provide technical support to the tea gardens to be installed at both the locations.
  • According to Rajendra Kishore, the leaf of the plant will be ready to break in three years. The age of the plant is about 50 years. Tea is already being cultivated on two acres in Demotand. Its quality was also checked by the members of the T-Board and the quality was described as good. Preparations have been made to plant tea on a total of 25 acres in Demotand.

  • Apart from this, the Chief Minister honored 13 litterateurs of the state in a program organized by the Culture and Archaeology Department in view of their service to Chhattisgarhi language. The Chief Minister also released the works of 10 litterateurs of Chhattisgarhi language.

Arrangement of Free Dialysis for Kidney Patients

Why In News?

  • According to information received from the Chhattisgarh Public Relations Department on November 28, 2022, on the initiative of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, free dialysis has been arranged in nine districts of the state for kidney patients.

Key Points

  • This service of the state government is being provided free of cost to sick patients of every class. So far, more than 13 thousand free dialysis sessions have been conducted in the state.
  • National Health Mission Chhattisgarh is providing free dialysis facility in nine districts of the state Durg, Kanker, Korba, Bilaspur, Jashpur, Surguja, Mahasamund, Bijapur and Rajnandgaon. For this, five machines each have been installed in Jashpur, Durg and Kanker districts, four each in Ambikapur and Mahasamund, six in Korba, three in Bijapur and four in Bilaspur (three in SIMS Medical College and one in Bilaspur Covid Hospital).
  • It is noteworthy that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the Chhattisgarh government is running many schemes related to health facilities for the convenience of the public. Through these schemes, medicines and free better health facilities are being made available to the common man at a cheaper rate.
  • Patients who have to undergo dialysis due to kidney disease have to spend one thousand rupees to 15 thousand rupees to get dialysis done once in private hospitals. Keeping this in mind, the Chief Minister has made arrangements for free dialysis in nine districts of the state for patients suffering from kidney disease.
  • So far, 13 thousand 798 free dialysis sessions have been done in these nine district hospitals in the state. Of these, 4,885 sessions have been held in Durg district, 4,872 in Korba, 4,230 in Kanker, 3,504 in Bilaspur, 2,631 in Mahasamund, 1,390 in Surguja, 942 in Bijapur and more than 675 in Jashpur.

One More Tiger Found in Indravati Tiger Reserve

  • According to information received from Chhattisgarh public relations department on November 28, 2022, the total number of tigers in Indravati Tiger Reserve Bijapur has now increased from 5 to 6.

  • A photograph of a tiger was found in the trap camera installed in Indravati Tiger Reserve last day. It has been confirmed as a new tiger by WII Tiger Cell Dehradun.
  • Indravati Tiger Reserve is a suitable place for tiger habitat, where wildlife other than tigers also reside. In which it is mainly a habitat of wild animals like gaur, leopard, bear, nilgai, deer, sambar, wild boar etc. along with forest buffalo.
  • Indravati Tiger Reserve of Chhattisgarh covers 2799.086 sq.km. It is spread over a geographical area of 1.5 km, which is adjacent to the forest area of Maharashtra and Telangana. It serves as a suitable corridor for the movement of tigers.
  • It is worth mentioning that the state forest department is continuously working with the people to bring awareness about wildlife conservation.
  • Indravati Tiger Reserve Management is continuously monitoring and protecting wildlife. At the same time, wildlife is being continuously protected and monitored through foot patrolling by the field staff.
  • It is noteworthy that two leopard cubs were recently found in village Cherpalli under village range Madaded buffer under Indravati Tiger Reserve Bijapur. The two leopard cubs are currently housed in Jungle Safari (Zoo) Raipur.

National Quality Certificate

Why In News?

  • According to information received from Chhattisgarh Public Relations Department on November 28, 2022, three health and wellness centers of the state have been awarded National Quality Certificates by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi. These include two sub-health centres in Dhamtari district, Gedra and Gadadih.

Key Points

  • According to the information received, this quality certificate is given by the Government of India to health institutions to provide quality and high-quality services to the patients done by them. Under this, the district level evaluation is followed by the state level evaluation. After this, health centers are enrolled for evaluation at the national level.
  • In this episode, the national team evaluated the Health and Wellness Center Gadadih and Gedra on September 20 and 21. During this time, evaluation was done on the basis of Opd, IPD, labor room, laboratory, general administration, various points of national program in health centers. In this, Sub Health Center Gedra of Dhamtari district got 90 percent and Gadadih got 94 percent score.
  • These institutions will be provided two lakh 25 thousand rupees and certificates every year as incentives, which will be used by the organization to expand the services as per the need.
  • It may be noted that earlier Civil Hospital Nagari and Primary Health Center Chataud of Dhamtari district have also got National Quality Certificate.
