Uttar Pradesh Climate Change Conference, 2021

Why in News

  • On October 28, 2021, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the two-day Uttar Pradesh Climate Change Conference, 2021 held at the Indira Gandhi Foundation.

Key Points

  • The event is being organized in collaboration with the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Uttar Pradesh and the German Development Agency.
  • On this occasion, the Chief Minister released a coffee table book based on heritage trees and a book on Plantation of 100 crore trees by the State Government, 'Vriksharopan Jan Andolan, 2021'. He launched an app based on carbon neutral and also launched three eco tourism circuits in the state.
  • On this occasion, the Chief Minister was handed over the award received by Forest and Environment Minister Dara Singh Chouhan for the management of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve as per international norms.
  • Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Van Mahotsav is organized every year from July 1 to 7 in the state, under which action was taken by the state government for tree plantation in coordination with all the departments. Five and a half crore trees were planted in the first year, 11 crore trees in the second year, 22 crore in the third year, more than 25 crore in the fourth year and more than 30 crore in the fifth year.
  • 3 eco tourism circuits have been launched in this conference. Among these, Agra-Chambal circuit, Varanasi-Chandrakanta circuit and Gorakhpur-Sohgibarwa circuit are important from the point of view of tourism. Through these tourists will get a natural and spiritual environment.

Uttar Pradesh In-situ Slum Redevelopment Policy, 2021

Why in News

  • On October 28, 2021, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Council of Ministers has approved the proposal for promulgation of the Uttar Pradesh In-situ Slum Redevelopment Policy, 2021.

Key Points

  • According to this policy 'slum' means a slum as defined in section 3 of the Uttar Pradesh Slum Areas (Improvement and Settlement) Act, 1962.
  • Under this policy, such slums will be valid, in which a minimum of 300 persons are residing.
  • The State Urban Development Agency (SUDA), Uttar Pradesh has been designated as the State Level Nodal Agency for implementation of the policy.
  • For the implementation of the policy, state level competent authority headed by Chief Secretary, State level evaluation committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary/Principal Secretary Urban Employment and Poverty Alleviation Department, at the urban level under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner for Municipal Corporations and other municipal bodies. For this, a city level competent authority will be constituted under the chairmanship of the district officer.
  • A city level technical committee will be constituted under the chairmanship of Project Director, District Urban Development Agency (DUDA) to evaluate the identified slums and provide technical assistance to the city level competent authority.
  • In this policy, the urban local body (ULB), the implementing body, the role and responsibility of the private developer along with the development of the project, eligibility of the beneficiaries and their benefits, allocation process, mandatory development criteria and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Housing for All (Urban) Clear provisions have been made regarding the grant to be received from the mission.

Soron Sukar area Declared Pilgrimage Site

Why in News

  • On October 28, 2021, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared the holy Soron Sukar area of Kasganj district as a place of pilgrimage.

Key Points

  • It has been declared as a place of pilgrimage in view of the long standing demand of saints and saints and various organizations to declare Soron Sukar as a place of pilgrimage.
  • Preserving this ancient and sacred shrine as a pilgrimage will make it easier to renovate the many smaller temples that come under it. Along with this, Chakratirtha, Yogatirtha, Suryatirtha, Somtirtha and Sakotkatirtha will also get benefits.
  • With the declaration of the Soron Sukar area as a pilgrimage site, besides development, new sources of employment will also be available to the local people.
  • With the decision of the state government, the historical heritage of the pilgrimage will be preserved, it will be renovated and infrastructure facilities for pilgrims will be developed and ghats will be developed.
  • Soron Sukar Kshetra is situated in the Braj region of Kasganj and the importance of this area has been mentioned in various Puranas. The Soron Sukar area is also considered as the pilgrimage of salvation. It is believed that Soron Sukar Kshetra is the place of Nirvana of Lord Vishnu's third incarnation 'Varaha'. The Kund (Haripadi Ganga) in Soron Sukar Kshetra is the same place from where Lord Varaha had left for Baikunth Lok and since then the ashes are immersed in this pool after death.

MoU Signed between AIIMS Bhopal and IISER

Why in News

  • On October 28, 2021, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhopal and Indian Institute of Education and Research (IISER), Bhopal collaborated in the fields of public health, metagenomics, cancer, epidemiology and treatment by sharing clinical samples and technology for sample analysis. Signed a Memorandum of Understanding for five years to conduct cooperative research.

Key Points

  • This MoU will pave the way for creating a translation research cluster with other research institutes in Madhya Pradesh.
  • Interdisciplinary research between the two institutions will lead to significant discoveries. Both the institutes will jointly organize seminars, workshops, conferences, faculty and student exchanges.

  • In the 31st National Senior Canoe Sprint Kayaking-Canoeing Championship, 2021 held at Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh from October 24 to 27, 2021, the players of Madhya Pradesh State Water Sports Academy won 12 Gold, 12 Silver and 5 Bronze medals by performing brilliantly.

  • In the championship, the Madhya Pradesh women's team won the overall championship, while the men's team was the overall runner-up.
  • Kaveri Dhimar of Madhya Pradesh State Water Sports Academy, performing brilliantly in this championship, won a total of 7 medals.

Haryana-Africa Conclave, Series 1

Why in News

  • To further strengthen the diplomatic and bilateral relations between Haryana and Africa, a two-day 'Haryana-Africa Conclave, Series-1' was organized on 28-29 October, 2021. It emphasized on increasing bilateral trade and connectivity between Africa and Haryana.

Key Points

  • Organized by the State Department of Foreign Cooperation under the aegis of Haryana Government in consultation with the Union Ministry of External Affairs under the title 'Transforming Haryana through a Go Global Approach', the conclave was attended by 12 African nations, namely Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Madagascar, Nigeria. Ambassadors and senior most embassy officials from Eritrea, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Senegal, Kenya, Ethiopia and Ghana and ministers and high officials of Haryana participated.
  • The first Haryana-Africa Conclave aims to strengthen economic and cultural ties, as it will not only create a framework and opportunities for cooperation, but also enhance people-to-people ties of both the regions. This conclave is a major step towards further strengthening the long standing friendship, which will pave the way for the development of both the regions.
  • On the first day of the Conclave, a cultural program followed by a dinner was organized by the Haryana Government at Gymkhana Club, Chandigarh to understand the prevailing cultural ties between the two regions. In this cultural program, folk dances of Haryana, Punjab, Gujarat, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir were presented by North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala (NZCC).
  • Similarly, on the second day of the conclave on October 29, 2021, an interactive session of representatives and dignitaries from African countries and Haryana was organized, which covered agriculture, skill development, education, information technology, agro-based food processing, dairy, sports, Possibilities of cooperation in cultural exchange, mutual interest and many other areas were discussed.
  • The state of Haryana and the African continent share many similarities, with both regions being agricultural and taking advantage of a young demographic and large consumer market. This synergy will provide a strong foundation for building sustainable economic trade and bilateral relations between Haryana and Africa.

Investment for Cement Plant

Why in News

  • On October 28, 2021, under the Jharkhand Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy, 2021 (JIIPP), it was signed between Sarva Dalmia Cement India Limited and Industries Department, Government of Jharkhand in the Investor Meet held in New Delhi. Accordingly, the government has provided land in Bokaro for the establishment of a cement plant.

Key Points

  • Under the MoU, allotment of land to Dalmia Cement Bharat Limited has been done within the stipulated time frame, with the level of possession and lease deed authority of the allotted plot.
  • Under this, an investment of about Rs 577 crore was ensured. The establishment of this plant will produce 2.0 million tonnes per annum.
  • The work of setting up the cement plant will start in November 2021. The construction of the plant is expected to be completed within a year. The state government has provided 16 acres of land at Balidih in Bokaro district to the company for setting up the plant.

  • On October 28, 2021, on the instructions of MGNREGA Commissioner Rajeshwari B, Rozgar Maha Divas was organized in all the panchayats of Jharkhand under the campaign 'Gramino Ki Aas, MGNREGA Se Vikas' with the aim of connecting the villagers with employment.

Key Points

  • On the occasion of Rozgar Mahadiwas, on-spot job cards of the villagers were made by organizing programs at the cluster level in the blocks of all the districts and those workers, who have got 100 days of employment under MGNREGA, were honored with prizes.
  • During this, workers were made aware of MGNREGA schemes by the Panchayat Secretary and Rozgar Sevaks and motivated to work in the schemes run in the village.

  • On October 28, 2021, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren inaugurated the 'National Tribal Dance Festival' and 'Rajyotsava, 2021' by lighting the lamp at the Science College ground in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh.

  • On the occasion of the inauguration of the National Tribal Dance Festival, dancers from different states and countries performed an attractive march past with traditional costumes and musical instruments.
  • On this occasion, folk dancers from Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh, and dancers from Uzbekistan, Swaziland gave a spectacular performance. Artists from the folk dancers of Himachal Pradesh honored the Governor and the Chief Minister by presenting them Himachali caps and shawls.
  • In this 'National Tribal Dance Festival' and Chhattisgarh Rajyotsava, to be held from 28 October to 1 November at the Science College ground in Raipur, artists from 27 states and 6 union territories of the country as well as 7 countries - Eswatini, Nigeria, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Around 1500 artists from Uganda, Mali and Palestine are participating.
  • The Chief Minister said that 42 tribes and 5 special backward tribes reside in the state of Chhattisgarh. Their population is one-third of the total population of the state. All tribes have distinct cultural identity. Their dialect, festival, dance, deities are also different.
  • The Chief Minister said that this is the second event of the National Dance Festival. The festival was organized for the first time in the year 2019, which was launched by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

Why in News

  • On October 28, 2021, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has released the list of recognition of new medical colleges. According to the released list, NMC has given conditional approval to Kanker Medical College for 100 MBBS seats.

Key Points

  • After getting approval from NMC, now Kanker Medical College will be the 11th Medical College and 8th Government Medical College in the state.
  • With this approval, the total MBBS seats in the state have become 1470.

Chief Minister Anchal Amrit Yojana

Why in News

  • On October 28, 2021, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami re-launched the 'Mukhyamantri Aanchal Amrit Yojana' while participating in the program organized at Ring Road, Dehradun. The Chief Minister launched the scheme by distributing milk to 11 children.

Key Points

  • The Chief Minister said that the re-launching of the scheme would go a long way in the development of the children and getting them adequate nutrition. He said that just as the mother's anchal protects the child from the sun, similarly the 'Aanchal Amrit Yojana' will definitely help in removing malnutrition among children.
  • He said that the corona pandemic has affected all the sectors, due to which this scheme was also affected for some time, which has now been restarted.
  • Under Mukhyamantri Anchal Amrit Yojana, children of 3 to 6 years of age will get free fortified sweet and fragrant milk 4 days a week in Anganwadi centers.
  • This scheme will benefit 1 lakh 70 children of the state, as well as improve the nutrition and health of the children.
  • Under the Chief Minister's Nutrition Scheme, 1 lakh pregnant women and 85 thousand lactating mothers are getting benefits.
  • 'Mukhyamantri Aanchal Amrit Yojana' was launched in Uttarakhand on March 7, 2019.
