Why in News?
Recently, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister emphasised that the establishment of industrial units is a significant growth in transforming the state into a hub of economic activity at the Regional Industry Conclave in Gwalior.
Key Points
- The Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation for 47 new industrial units with a total investment of Rs 1,586 crore. This initiative is expected to generate around 4,752 jobs in the state.
- The event was themed around 'heritage, history, and industry', underscoring the convergence of Madhya Pradesh's rich cultural legacy and its modern industrial ambitions.
- Eight district-level industry facilitation centers in the Gwalior-Chambal region were announced.
- These centers in Gwalior, Morena, Bhind, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Datia, Guna, and Ashoknagar, aim to streamline the establishment and growth of industries by providing necessary administrative support and resources.
- The CM also visited an exhibition showcasing the development prospects of the micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) sector in the region.
- The Regional Industry Conclave witnessed the participation of international representatives from Mexico and Zambia, reflecting Madhya Pradesh’s growing global appeal as an investment destination.
- In a major announcement aimed at enhancing connectivity and encouraging industrial growth, eight new airports would be completed in Madhya Pradesh in the next few months, bringing the total number of new airports in the state to 11.
- According to the officials, preparations are underway for the Global Investors Summit to be held in Bhopal in February 2025.

National Teachers Awards 2024
Why in News?
Recently, the Union Ministry of Education has selected Two Bihar educators for the National Teachers Award, 2024.
Key Points
- The selected teachers are: Sikendra Kumar Suman, the principal-in-charge of Tarhani New Primary School in Kaimur district and Dr Meenakshi Kumari, teacher at Shiv Ganga Girls High School in Madhubani district.
- They will be felicitated by President Draupadi Murmu on Teacher’s Day at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi.
- The award is given to teachers for outstanding contribution in the field of education.They will be given a cash prize of ₹50,000, a silver medal and a citation.
- A total of 50 teachers have been selected for the prestigious award from all over the country.
Teacher’s Day
- Teachers' Day, celebrated annually on 5th September since 1962, honours the contributions of educators, including teachers, researchers, and professors in India.
- Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the President of India at the time, suggested observing his birthday as Teachers' Day in response to students' requests for celebration.
- About Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan:
- Birth:
- He was born into a Telugu family in Tiruttani town of Tamil Nadu, on 5th September, 1888.
- Academics:
- He studied philosophy at Christian College, Madras, and later became a professor at Madras Presidency College and the University of Mysore.
- Employment:
- He served as the first Vice-President of India from 1952 to 1962 and the second President of India from 1962 to 1967.
- He was also the Ambassador of India to the Soviet Union from 1949 to 1952. He was the fourth Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University from 1939 to 1948.
- Recognition:
- In 1984, he was posthumously (after death) awarded the Bharat Ratna.

Uttar Pradesh New Social Media Policy
Why in News?
Recently, The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet approved a new social media policy, aimed at regulating content across platforms including Facebook, X, Instagram, and YouTube.
Key Points
- According to the policy, social media influencers can earn up to Rs 8 lakh per month by sharing the government's schemes and initiatives on their platforms.
- The residents of the state who are residing in different parts of the country and abroad will be ensured to get employment in large numbers.
- According to the sources, for listing, each of X, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube has been divided into four categories based on subscribers and followers.
- The category-wise maximum payout limit for payments to account holders or operators or influencers of X, Facebook, Instagram has been fixed at Rs 5 lakh, Rs 4 lakh, Rs 3 lakh and Rs 2 lakh per month respectively.
- The category wise maximum payout limit for videos, shorts, podcast payments on YouTube has been fixed at Rs 8 lakh, Rs 7 lakh, Rs 6 lakh and Rs 4 lakh per month, respectively.
- The government has listed a digital agency, 'V-Form,' to handle advertisements. It will be responsible for showcasing videos, tweets, posts, and reels.
- The policy also introduces guidelines for addressing objectionable social media content.
- Action will be taken for anti-national, anti-social, fake news or inflammatory content posted on social media.

Chhattisgarh to Increase Amount Under Ayushman Scheme
Why in News?
According to the sources, The Chhattisgarh government is planning to enhance the treatment limit under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri - Jan Arogya Yojana from the current Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh for all non-APL (Above Poverty Level) card holders in the coming months.
Key Points
- Under the scheme around 55 lakh Below Poverty Level (BPL) families and around 8 lakh (APL) families will benefit.
- People that need specialised care for complex medical conditions in hospitals will also benefit.
- According to the health department, 35.41 lakh people availed the benefits under the scheme in Chhattisgarh.
Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri - Jan Arogya Yojana
- About:
- PM-JAY is the world’s largest health insurance scheme fully financed by the government.
- Launched in 2018, it offers a sum insured of Rs.5 lakh per family for secondary care and tertiary care.
- Health Benefit Packages covers surgery, medical and day care treatments, cost of medicines and diagnostics.
- Beneficiaries:
- It is an entitlement-based scheme that targets the beneficiaries as identified by latest Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC), 2011 data.
- The National Health Authority (NHA) has provided flexibility to States/UTs to use non- Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) beneficiary family databases with similar socio-economic profiles for tagging against the leftover (unauthenticated) SECC families.
- It is an entitlement-based scheme that targets the beneficiaries as identified by latest Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC), 2011 data.
- Funding:
- The funding for the scheme is shared 60:40 for all states and UTs with their own legislature, 90:10 in Northeast states and Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal and Uttarakhand and 100% Central funding for UTs without legislature.
- Nodal Agency:
- The National Health Authority (NHA) has been constituted as an autonomous entity under Society Registration Act, 1860 for effective implementation of PM-JAY in alliance with state governments.
- The State Health Agency (SHA) is the apex body of the State Government responsible for the implementation of ABPM-JAY in the State.

Committee Approval for Political Ads in Gurugram
Why in News?
According to the officials, political advertisements on cable TV, newspapers and in cinema halls within Gurugram district can no longer be broadcast without prior approval from the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC).
Key Points
- Cable operators and cinema hall owners are prohibited from airing any advertisement without an MCMC certificate during the election period.
- This announcement was made under the directives from the Election Commission of India.
Rules for Political Parties Using State-Owned Media
- Allocation of Time on State Media:
- Recognised political parties have been allowed to freely use state-owned television and radio during polls since the 1998 Lok Sabha elections.
- The ECI decides the time allocation for each recognised national and state party before the start of the election campaign.
- National parties collectively receive a minimum of 10 hours on Doordarshan's national channel and 15 hours on regional channels. They also get 10 hours on AIR's national hook-up and 15 hours on regional AIR stations.
- State parties get a minimum of 30 hours on regional Doordarshan channels and AIR radio stations.
- Guidelines on Speech Content:
- Parties and speakers must submit speech transcripts 3-4 days in advance for approval by respective All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan (DD) authorities.
- ECI Guidelines Prohibit:
- Criticism of other countries;
- Attack on religions or communities;
- Obscene or defamatory content;
- Incitement of violence;
- Contempt of court;
- Aspersions against the President and judiciary;
- Anything affecting national unity and integrity;
- Criticism of individuals by name.
