Haryana is the First State in the Country to Set up Military and Paramilitary Welfare Department

Why In News?

On November 26, 2023, Haryana Minister of State for Military and Paramilitary Welfare Om Prakash Yadav said that Haryana is the first state in the country where the Military and Paramilitary Welfare Department has been formed, through which many welfare schemes are being run for the welfare of ex-servicemen and para-soldiers.

Key Points:

  • Earlier, ex-gratia amount of Rs 20 lakh was given to the army personnel and Central Armed Police Forces personnel martyred during the war in Haryana, which has been increased to Rs 50 lakh by the state government.
  • Along with this, Rs 50 lakh is also given to those martyred during IED blast.
  • Haryana Government has provided jobs to 367 dependents of martyred Military/Central Armed Police Forces on compassionate grounds since October, 2014.
  • On 26th November, Constitution Day and Millets Day were celebrated at Bhanu, Primary Training Center of Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force, Panchkula. Products made from millets were also displayed on this occasion.
  • On this occasion, Inspector General of Bhanu Panchkula, the primary training center of Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force, APS Nimbadia was also present.
  • It is noteworthy that the year 2023 is being celebrated as the International Millet Year by the United Nations.

Chief Minister Approves Improvement of 8 State Highways and Widening of Sivaha- Pillukheda Road

Why In News?

Taking important steps towards increasing connectivity and seamless transportation facility in the state of Haryana, on November 25, 2023, Chief Minister Manohar Lal announced the improvement of 8 state highways at an estimated cost of Rs 75.16 crore besides widening of Siwaha-Pillukheda road at a cost of Rs 1.47 crore. Administrative approval has been given for further strengthening.

Key Points:

  • Jagadhri-Bilaspur Sadhaura-Narayangarh-Raipur Rani road spanning 12.72 km in Ambala district will be improved with an estimated budget of Rs 6.80 crore.
  • Barwala-Hisar-Seoni Singhani road (SH-19) will be improved in Bhiwani district with an estimated amount of Rs 1.69 crore, the length of this road is 5.40 km. Is.
  • Rewari-Dahina-Kanina-Mahendragarh-Satnali-Loharu road (SH No. 26) spanning 9.23 km in Bhiwani district will be improved at a cost of Rs 5.38 crore.
  • 32.00 km long Mahendragarh-Satanali-Loharu road (SH-24) in Mahendragarh district will be improved at a cost of Rs 17.72 crore.
  • Hisar district includes improvement of 11.67 km long Adampur to Jhansal road at a cost of Rs 7.62 crore.
  • The 26.038 km long Karnal Assandh-Jind-Hansi Road (SH-12) in Hisar district will be improved at a cost of about Rs 27.58 crore.
  • RCC side drain will be constructed on the 0.500 km long Kunjpura Karnal Road (SH-08) in Karnal district at a total cost of Rs 3.8 crore.
  • Apart from the 7.064 km long Surewala Chowk to Uklana Bhuna (SH-02) road in Hisar district, Siwah to Pillukheda road will be widened and strengthened at an estimated cost of Rs 1.47 crore in Hisar district at an estimated cost of Rs 7.96 crore.
