Why in News

  • Recently, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath released the book 'Prayagraj Kumbh' focused on Prayagraj Kumbh, 2019.

Key Points

  • The editor of this book dedicated to the public is former Director General of Police Prakash Singh.
  • The book has been published by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR).
  • It is to be noted that Prayagraj Kumbh, 2019 was organized from January 15 to March 4, 2019.
  • More than 24 crore devotees took bath in Prayagraj Kumbh. An Integrated Command and Control System was established to monitor such a large number. Apart from this, Artificial Intelligence was also used.
  • The government has set a unique example of cleanliness, security, and orderliness at the global level during Kumbh with religious and spiritual flavour.
  • Prayagraj Kumbh also became a symbol of social harmony. The state government propagated the legacy of Kumbh through the 'logo' of 'Sarva Siddhi Prada Kumbh'.
  • For the first time in 450 years, in Prayagraj Kumbh, 2019, Akshayavat and Saraswati Well located in the fort were opened for the devotees to visit.

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana

Why in News

Key Points

  • Earlier on August 10, 2021 the second phase of 'Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana' was launched by the Prime Minister from Mahoba district of the state. Under this, a total of 1 crore free LPG connections will be provided to poor and needy families in the country.
  • For the second phase of 'Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana', 10 districts of the state - Sonbhadra, Banda, Mahoba, Chitrakoot, Rae Bareilly, Hardoi, Badaun, Amethi, Fatehpur and Farrukhabad have been selected. Free LPG connections will be provided to 20 lakh beneficiaries of these districts.
  • Under the first phase of 'Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana', free LPG connections have been provided to more than 8 crore families of the country. In Uttar Pradesh 1.47 crore families have been benefited by the scheme. This number is the highest in the entire country.
  • In the second phase of 'Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana', special provisions have been made for those migrant workers, who were deprived of getting the benefit of the scheme due to lack of proof of address in the first phase of 'Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana'.
  • It is worth mentioning that under the 'Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana', the target was to provide free LPG connections to 8 crore underprivileged families by March 2020, which was achieved 7 months ago in September 2019.
