33 New Women Police Stations and 239 Women Help Desks Established in the State

Why In News?

On January 26, 2023, Haryana's Home and Health Minister Anil Vij told during the 74th Republic Day celebrations at the Police Line Complex in Ambala city of the state that 33 new women's police stations and 239 women's help centers have been set up in the state to deal with crimes against women. The desks have been set up.

Key points

  • On this occasion, Home and Health Minister Anil Vij said that the state government is determined to increase the number of women police personnel in Haryana Police to 15 percent. In this series, to provide security to women, 24 companies of 'Durga Shakti Rapid Action Force' have been deployed for the security of school-college going girls and other women.
  • He said that people should not face any problem in registering FIR, for this Zero FIR. The concept has been introduced. Now in any police station F.I.R. can be registered, irrespective of where the incident took place.
  • The Home Minister informed that the Trakia bar-coding system has been commissioned at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) at Police Complex, Madhuban in Karnal district. This system is fully computerized. Haryana is the first state in the country to use this type of system from the police station level to the forensic lab.
  • He informed that Haryana Police has been awarded 5 times for sending passport verification before the stipulated time period.
  • Anil Vij said that approval has been given to open five new police stations in Ambala range and one in Munak in Karnal district. In order to increase the sense of police security among the people and the police is with them at every step, the 112 vehicles have been added to the police fleet under 600 toll free number. Two vehicles have been provided in each police station.

Chief Minister Announced Rs 90 crore for the Development of Tejli Stadium

Why In News?

On January 26, 2023, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar hoisted the national flag at Tejli Stadium in Jagadhri in Yamuna Nagar district on Republic Day and announced Rs 90 crore as a gift to the residents of the district for the development of Tejli Stadium.

  • On this occasion, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar informed that Tejli Stadium in Yamuna Nagar district will be developed modernly in 3 phases. Spread over 50 acres, this stadium will have all the facilities for indoor and outdoor games.
  • He said that in the first phase, including judo infrastructure will be developed and facilities will be provided for indoor sports taekwondo, wrestling, boxing, lawn tennis, kabaddi, archery, rifle shooting etc.
  • In the next phase, outdoor games will be developed, in which sports like hockey football, athletics, table tennis, volleyball, basketball, handball, badminton etc. will be developed.
  • This work will be done by the Sports Department and will be completed in about 3 years.

On January 25, 2023, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal made several announcements at the birth anniversary celebrations of farmers' messiah Deenbandhu Sir Chhoturam organized at Jat Dharamshala in Kusrukshetra district of the state.

  • On this occasion, Chief Minister Manohar Lal announced to increase the rate of sugarcane 10 to Rs by Rs 372. He also announced to increase the salary of patwaris from Rs 25,000 to Rs 32,100.
  • He said that due to the hailstorm, there has been a lot of damage to the mustard crop, in such a situation, the crop will be repaired, and compensation will be given to the farmers.
  • The Chief Minister also announced a grant of Rs 51 lakh for Jat Dharamshala. The land for the hostel to be built by Jat Dharamshala will be arranged through Kurukshetra Development Board or Haryana Urban Development Authority.
  • He said that the Haryana government is running Sant Mahapurush Prachar Prasar Yojana, under which birth anniversaries of saints and great men are officially celebrated.

Two Personalities of the State Selected for Padma Shri Honor

Why In News?

On January 25, 2023, the President announced the country's highest civilian awards 'Padma Awards' for the year 2023 on the eve of Republic Day. Among these, two personalities from Haryana have been selected for the Padma Shri award.

  • For the year 2023, the President has approved the conferment of 106 Padma Awards, including three dual cases (in a dual case, the award is counted as one).
  • The list includes 6 Padma Vibhushan, 9 Padma Bhushan and 91 Padma Shri awardees. The list of awardees includes 19 women and 2 persons from the category of Foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI and 7 posthumous awardees.
  • Bakshi Ram and Dr. Sukama Acharya are among the two personalities from Haryana selected for the Padma award.
  • Dr. Sukama Acharya of Akupur village in Jhajjar district has been selected for the Padma Shri award for distinguished service in the field of spiritualism and Dr. Bakshi Ram, an agricultural scientist from Gurgaon, for distinguished service in the field of science and engineering.
  • Agricultural scientist Bakshi Ram is known for developing sugarcane variety CO-0238.
  • Significantly, Padma award is included in the highest civilian awards of the country. The Padma awards are given in three categories - Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. The awards are announced on Republic Day every year.
  • The awards, social work public affairs science and engineering are given in the fields of various disciplines trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service etc/activities such as art.
  • 'Padma Vibhushan' is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service, 'Padma Bhushan' for distinguished service of high order and 'Padma Shri' for distinguished service in any field.
  • These awards are presented by the President of India in ceremonial ceremonies which are usually held at Rashtrapati Bhavan around March/April every year.
