For the first time in Jharkhand, NDMA conducted mock drill to deal with floods.

Why In News?

On December 21, 2023, to deal with floods in Jharkhand, a mock drill was organised by the National Disaster Management Authority in all 24 districts of the state including Dhurwa Dam in Ranchi.

Key Points

  • The main objective of this mock drill is to rescue the people trapped in the flood, provide relief to them, provide medical facilities and coordinate all the departments among themselves to carry out relief and rescue work.
  • This mock drill was conducted under the guidance of Brigadier Birendra Thakar, representative of the National Disaster Management Authority, Government of India.
  • In this mock drill, 5 teams of NDRF, 1 team of SDRF, electricity department, BSNL, medical team, municipal corporation, police department, transport department, drinking water department, district administration officials and fire brigade participated.

PM Modi will flag off the first Amrit Bharat train from Ayodhya

Why In News?

On December 30, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the first Amrit Bharat train in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.

Key Points

  • This Amrit Bharat train will have 22 bogies and its speed will be approximately 130 km per hour.
  • This train will be the country's first Amrit Bharat train.
  • This train will connect Ramnagari to Sitamarhi, the birthplace of Mother Sita.
  • Lucknow Division's APRO Vikram Singh said that the saffron coloured Amrit Bharat train with 22 coaches is completely indigenous.
  • The plane-like Amrit Bharat train will have engines on both the front and rear sides.
  • In this Amrit Bharat train, 683 passengers will be able to travel in eight general bogies, 12 sleepers and two AC coaches.
  • The distance from Ayodhya to Lucknow can be covered in just one and a half hour by this Amrit Bharat train.

1500 artists played Tabla together, registered in Guinness World Record

Why In News?

On 25 December 2023, more than 1500 tabla players got registered in the Guinness World Records by performing tabla playing together at the historical fort of Gwalior in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.

Key Points

  • This event was named Taal Darbar.
  • During this event, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that December 25 will be celebrated as Tabla Day.
  • In this event, more than 1500 artists from around 50 cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and other states displayed their art together.
  • It may be noted that the Tansen Festival is organised every year in Gwalior. This was the 99th edition of the event.
