Notification issued for formation of Directorate of Handicrafts & Handlooms

On August 24, 2023, Industry and Commerce Minister Shakuntala Rawat said that for the implementation of the Rajasthan Handicrafts Policy 2022, a notification has been issued for the formation of the Directorate of Handicrafts and Handlooms by the Industries and Commerce Department.
Key Points:
- The headquarters of the Directorate of Handicrafts and Handlooms will remain at Jodhpur.
- With the formation of the Directorate of Handicrafts and Handlooms, it will be easy to revive the extinct traditional handicrafts in the state and new employment opportunities will be available in the field of handicrafts.
- Industry and Commerce Minister said that according to the intention of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, work will be done in a planned manner for the economic upliftment and development of handicraftsmen and handloom weavers of the state.
- Along with this, along with arranging better marketing for the products, help will be given to the artisans and weavers to make them exportable.
- With the smooth operation of the directorate, the products will be recognized at the international level and the state's participation in the export of these products will also increase.
- Important events, decisions and works will be done according to the action plan for the upliftment of handicraftsmen and handloom weavers in the state.

1772 Micro Food Enterprise Units to be set up in M.P.
Why is News?
According to the information given by Madhya Pradesh Public Relations Department on August 24, 2023, 1772 units of micro food enterprises are going to be set up in the state. Loan has been sanctioned for these units under 'Pradhan Mantri Micro Food Enterprises Upgradation Scheme'.
Key Points:
- Out of these units of micro food enterprise, the maximum number of 116 units will be set up in Gwalior. On the second number, 100 units will be set up in Khargone, 47 in Rewa, 23 in Balaghat, 27 in Tikamgarh and 22 in Hoshangabad.
- It is worth mentioning that 10664 entrepreneurs had applied for loans showing interest in the scheme. After trial the 1772 was found creditable. Rest of the applications are being considered at various stages.
- It is known that the Ministry of Food Processing Industries has started the 'Pradhan Mantri Micro Food Industry Upgradation Scheme' to provide financial, technical and business assistance for the upgradation of micro food enterprises with the participation of the state government.
- In this, capacity building is being done through skill training, imparting technical information regarding food safety standards and hygiene and quality improvement.
- Under this, interested people are given help for preparing bank loans and DPR. Assistance is being given to farmer producer organizations, self-help groups for capital investment, infrastructure branding and marketing assistance.
- In this, individually established enterprises can avail credit linked capital subsidy at 35 percent. The maximum subsidy can be up to Rs 10 lakh. The contribution of the beneficiary should be 10 percent.
- There is also a provision to provide working capital to self-help groups.
- Units based on the products selected in one district-one product will get priority.
- The Central Government has prepared a list of the best micro food units. It mentions the success of the Jamuna self-help group in the Betul district of Madhya Pradesh. The members of this group got training in food processing.

On August 23, 2023, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala informed that the 63rd meeting of the 'Project Sectioning and Monitoring Group-1' of the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) was held in New Delhi, in which 8 new projects worth about Rs 461 crore were gifted to Haryana.
Key Points:
- Giving information about the new projects, the Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the charge of PWD Department, said that these 8 projects include strengthening of 4 major highways, 2 new flyovers and 2 new railway over bridges.
- It is known that the path of progress of any state passes through road and rail and the state government is committed to strengthen the infrastructure of both these routes.
- Under these projects, the road from Maham to Kalaanaur and further Beri village will be strengthened, which will cost about Rs 51.62 crore.
- Similarly, Rs 60.89 crore will be spent on strengthening of Jhajjar-Kosli road, Rs 137.57 crore on improvement of Nuh-Palwal road and Rs 19.46 crore on strengthening of Rohtak-Kharkhoda-Delhi border road.
- A new flyover will be constructed at Sukhpura Chowk on Old NH-71A in Rohtak at a cost of Rs 65.88 crore.
- Similarly, a new flyover will be constructed along with a 'Carrier Lined Channel' on 'Panipat-Safidon-Jind-Bhiwani Road' in Panipat, this flyover will cost Rs 26.47 crore.
- A new railway overbridge will be constructed on the 'Jind-Panipat Railway Section' in Panipat at a cost of Rs 73.24 crore. Apart from this, a new flyover will be constructed from 'Panipat GT Road to Dahar' along with the existing railway overbridge in Panipat district.
- The state government is widening and strengthening the road route as per the requirement for the convenience of the people of the state, where the need for flyovers or railway overbridges is felt, they will be built on priority.

On August 24, 2023, Chhattisgarh's ' Mukhyamantri Mitan Yojana' was awarded by the Uttar Pradesh government in the category of Outstanding Project in Digital Innovation at the Uttar Pradesh Planning and Investment Conclave in Lucknow.

- This conclave was organized by the Government of Uttar Pradesh and ELETS.
- This honor was given to Chhattisgarh for 'Mukhyamantri Mitan Yojana' for making urban services easily available to the general public using digital medium.
