Sahitya Akademi's Yuva Sahitya Puraskar 2022
Why In News?
- On August 24, 2022, the Sahitya Akademi announced the Bal Sahitya Puraskar 2022 of the Akademi to writers and writers of 22 languages and Yuva Sahitya Puraskar 2022 to writers of 23 languages. It also includes two litterateurs from Jharkhand, Mihir Vats and Salge Hansda.
Key Points
- In the meeting of the Executive Board of the Akademi chaired by the President of Sahitya Akademi, Dr. Chandrashekhar Kambar, the author-writers were approved for the Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar 2022 and Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar.
- The Akademi announced the Children's Literature Awards 2022 for writers and writers in a total of 22 languages, while author and writers in 23 languages will be given the Yuva Sahitya Puraskar.
- Mihir Vats of Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand has been selected for Yuva Sahitya Akademi Award for his book 'Tales of Hazaribagh - An Intimate Exploration of Chotanagpur Plateau' in English. It contains a travel memoir of the Hazaribagh plateau region.
- On the other hand, Salge Hansda of Jamshedpur district has been selected for the Yuva Sahitya Akademi Award for his Santhali novel Janam Disom Ujarog Kana.
- The Akademi secretary said that in the category of Bal Sahitya Puraskar, the award in Punjabi language is not being given this year, while the award in Santhali language will be announced later. At the same time, in the category of Youth Award, the winner will be announced later in Marathi.
- The selected authors will be given an engraved copper plaque and a sum of Rs 50,000.

National Teacher Award
Why In News?
- On August 25, 2022, the Ministry of Education, Government of India released the final list of names of 46 teachers from different states of the country selected for the National Teacher Awards 2022. It also includes the name of Shipra Mishra of Jharkhand.

- President Draupadi Murmu will present the National Awards for the year 2022 to selected teachers and teachers on the occasion of Teachers' Day on September 5, 2022 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a silver medal.
- Shipra Mishra is originally from Purnia district of Bihar. The teacher has played an important role in giving the school national recognition. She has been working continuously at her level to increase the interest of the students in the school towards science.

- Shipra Mishra has received many awards so far. She has received the best teacher award from rotary club in the year 2017, best teacher award from inner wheel club, state level teacher award in the year 2019 and best science teachers award by NML in 2020.
- It is noteworthy that on the occasion of Teacher's Day, the Department of School Education and Literacy of the Ministry of Education organizes a national function every year on 5th September, in which national awards are given to the best teachers of the country.
- The selection of teachers for the awards is done in a transparent manner through an online three-tier selection process.
- The objective of conferring the National Award to Teachers is to highlight the unique contribution of the teachers of the country and to honor such teachers, who have not only improved the quality of school education but also enriched the lives of their students with their commitment and hard work.
