Prayagraj Kumbh

Why in News

  • Recently, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath released the book 'Prayagraj Kumbh' focused on Prayagraj Kumbh, 2019.

Key Points

  • The editor of this book dedicated to the public is former Director General of Police Prakash Singh.
  • The book has been published by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR).
  • It is to be noted that Prayagraj Kumbh, 2019 was organized from January 15 to March 4, 2019.
  • More than 24 crore devotees took bath in Prayagraj Kumbh. An Integrated Command and Control System was established to monitor such a large number. Apart from this, Artificial Intelligence was also used.
  • The government has set a unique example of cleanliness, security, and orderliness at the global level during Kumbh with religious and spiritual flavour.
  • Prayagraj Kumbh also became a symbol of social harmony. The state government propagated the legacy of Kumbh through the 'logo' of 'Sarva Siddhi Prada Kumbh'.
  • For the first time in 450 years, in Prayagraj Kumbh, 2019, Akshayavat and Saraswati Well located in the fort were opened for the devotees to visit.

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana

Why in News

Key Points

  • Earlier on August 10, 2021 the second phase of 'Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana' was launched by the Prime Minister from Mahoba district of the state. Under this, a total of 1 crore free LPG connections will be provided to poor and needy families in the country.
  • For the second phase of 'Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana', 10 districts of the state - Sonbhadra, Banda, Mahoba, Chitrakoot, Rae Bareilly, Hardoi, Badaun, Amethi, Fatehpur and Farrukhabad have been selected. Free LPG connections will be provided to 20 lakh beneficiaries of these districts.
  • Under the first phase of 'Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana', free LPG connections have been provided to more than 8 crore families of the country. In Uttar Pradesh 1.47 crore families have been benefited by the scheme. This number is the highest in the entire country.
  • In the second phase of 'Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana', special provisions have been made for those migrant workers, who were deprived of getting the benefit of the scheme due to lack of proof of address in the first phase of 'Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana'.
  • It is worth mentioning that under the 'Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana', the target was to provide free LPG connections to 8 crore underprivileged families by March 2020, which was achieved 7 months ago in September 2019.

Payment Portal under Chief Minister Corona Sahayata Yojana

Why in News

  • Recently the Social Justice and Empowerment Department of Rajasthan launched a centralized payment portal for quick and online payment of the assistance amount due under the Chief Minister's Corona Sahayata Yojana.

Key Points

  • Till now, the orphan children, widows and their children marked by the corona epidemic were paid the due assistance directly by issuing offline approval at the level of the district collector.
    • Now the Chief Minister Corona Sahayata Portal has been developed by the department for quick approval and regular payment to such victim children and widows directly through their bank account.
  • Now, by feeding all the beneficiaries paid offline by the department on the portal, the amount received from the Chief Minister's Assistance Fund will be paid in a lump sum and monthly dues through the online process.
  • With this, all the beneficiaries will be able to get the amount regularly in their bank accounts every month. As soon as the amount is transferred to the account, SMS will also be sent by the portal to the concerned beneficiary's mobile number.
  • It is worth mentioning that the Chief Minister Corona Sahayata Yojana has been implemented by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department to provide economic, social and educational support to orphan children, widows and their children due to the global corona epidemic.

Villages Declared as “Lacking” in Rajasthan

Why in News

  • The Rajasthan state government has declared 85 villages in 11 districts as “Lacking” on the basis of regular Girdawari reports of hailstorms in the year 2020-21.

Key Points

  • According to Disaster Management Assistance and Civil Defense Department, one village from Alwar district, two from Barmer, four from Bikaner, nine from Bharatpur, two from Chittorgarh, two from Churu, nineteen of Hanumangarh, twenty eight from Jhunjhunu, eight from Kota, six from Sawai Madhopur and villages from Tonk district have been declared as “Lacking”.
  • It is noteworthy that on the basis of reports of hailstorms during Rabi crops (2020-21) received from Alwar, Barmer, Bikaner, Bharatpur, Chittorgarh, Churu, Hanumangarh, Jhunjhunu, Kota, Sawai Madhopur and Tonk, these 85 villages have been notified as “lacking” by the state government.
  • This provision shall remain in force in such affected villages till 30th September, 2021 from the date of publication of this notification.

Maximum Vaccinations in Country

Why in News

  • On the first day of Mega Vaccination Drive of Phase-2, which will be run in all districts in Madhya Pradesh from August 25 to 26, 2021, the state became the first state in the country to do maximum vaccination in a day by administering vaccine doses to 23 lakh 86 a thousand persons.

Key Points

  • During the Vaccination Maha-Abhiyan-1 in Madhya Pradesh that was organized on June 21, 2021, more than 18 lakh vaccine doses were given.
  • Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the Vaccination Maha-Abhiyan-2 at the center set up at the Jain Temple at Jawahar Chowk, Bhopal.
  • On the first day of Vaccination Maha-Abhiyan-2, a target was set to vaccinate 21 lakh 30 thousand people. To achieve the target, more than 8 thousand immunization centers were set up in 52 districts of the state. Madhya Pradesh set its own record by achieving about 10 percent more than the set target.
  • In the Vaccination Maha-Abhiyan, suitable arrangements have been made at all the centers to vaccinate the target group. Along with this, arrangements were also made by the local administration for transporting vehicles to and from the center, especially for the elderly and the differently-abled.
  • Members of the district, block and village and ward level Crisis Management Committees formed in the state to prevent the third wave of corona infection also played an active role in Maha-Abhiyan-2 The members of the committee, while doing public awareness work in urban and rural areas, also discharged the role of motivator at the vaccination centers.
  • On the first day of Maha-Abhiyan-2, a maximum number of vaccines were administered in Shivpuri district in the state. Mandsaur in second place and Seoni in third place.

Mathematics Olympiad

Why in News

  • On August 25, 2021, Mathematics Olympiad was organized online by the School Education Department of Chhattisgarh to assess the achievements of the students of Swami Atmanand English medium government schools across the state.

Key Points

  • 10,466 students participated in this Olympiad. In this 2411 students of primary level, 3860 of secondary level, 3045 of high school level and 1149 students of higher secondary level participated in this.
  • It is noteworthy that earlier on 19th August 7,232 students participated in the Olympiad of Science.
  • The assessment is divided into four levels, primary level classes 3 to 5, secondary level classes 6th to 8th, high school level classes 9th and 10th and higher secondary level classes 11th and 12th.
  • As soon as the assessment work is completed, on the basis of the marks obtained by the students, after ranking the students at the school, district and state level, certificates will be given to the students securing first, second and third position.
  • It is noteworthy that the School Education Department is assessing the achievements of the children of these English medium schools across the state through the Olympiads of Science, Mathematics and English subjects.
