Azamgarh ranks first in the entire state in disposal of public complaints received on IGRS portal.

Why In News?

According to the information given by Uttar Pradesh Media Cell on December 24, 2023, Azamgarh stands first in the entire state in the monthly ranking regarding disposal of public complaints received on the Grievance Redressal System i.e. IGRS portal.

Key Points

• According to the information, the monthly ranking for the month of November has been released by the Chief Minister's Office Lok Bhavan in response to public complaints received on the IGRS portal. In this, Azamgarh has stood first in the entire state and in the police station wise ranking, all the police stations (26 police stations) of Azamgarh district have secured 100 percent marks.
• The hard work of Superintendent of Police Anurag Arya bore fruit and in the list released from the Chief Minister's Office in the month of November 2023, Azamgarh Police reached the first position in the entire state. All credit for this achievement of the police goes to Superintendent of Police Anurag Arya and his team.
• It is worth mentioning that as per the instructions of the government, the complaints received through IGRS are being disposed of in a prompt, fair, timely and quality manner by every police station of the district.
• In the ranking issued by the government level, Nagar Kotwali has got the first position, while Sidhari police station has got the second position and Rani Ki Sarai police station has got the third position. These police stations scored 100% marks out of 90 marks.
• In the ranking, Kandharapur has got fourth place, Mubarakpur has got fifth place, Jahanaganj has got sixth place, Gambhirpur has got seventh place, Nizamabad has got eighth place, Devgaon has got ninth place and Bardah police station has got 10^th place. Mahila police station has got the last position (26^th position).

Lakhpati Didi Conference

Why In News?

On December 23, 2023, ‘Lakhpati Didi Sammelan’ was organized at Shaheed Poonam Singh Stadium, Jaisalmer under the auspices of Rajasthan Rural Development Department in the presence of President Draupadi Murmu and Governor Kalraj Mishra.

Key Points

• In this conference, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said that this scheme has been started to empower women economically. Through this scheme, employment-oriented skill development training will be given to 2 crore mothers and sisters of the country associated with self-help groups.
• Under this scheme, a target has been set to benefit 11.24 lakh women of Rajasthan. So far 3 lakh women have been included in this category. In the programme, the Chief Minister also distributed checks worth Rs 150 crore to the women of self-help groups.
• The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has resolved to create 2 crore Lakhpati Didis across the country. To realize this, the Women Empowerment SHG Mission will be launched with an investment of Rs 1,000 crore. In this, the target is to connect 2 lakh new women members with SHGs and an action plan is being made to provide them simple loan facilities and market linkage facilities.
• He said that a roadmap will be prepared to provide loans up to Rs 1 lakh at minimum rates to about 28 lakh women working in SHGs through the Women Empowerment Credit Card Scheme.
• The Chief Minister said that keeping in mind women's safety, a women's police station will be established in every district of the state. Women's desk will be established in every police station and anti Romeo squad will also be formed in all major cities.
• Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Kailash Chaudhary said that through the Lakhpati Didi Yojana being run for women empowerment, the women of the state will become stronger socially, economically and politically in the coming times. With this initiative, along with skill development of women, new means of livelihood will be available to them.

Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana

Why In News?

According to the information given by the Chhattisgarh Public Relations Department on December 24, 2023, under the 'PM Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojana' launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the eligible persons working in 18 areas in the state will get benefit.

Key Points

• Under the 'PM Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojana', a loan of Rs 3 lakh will be made available to the eligible people at 5 percent concessional interest rate. In the first phase, a loan of one lakh rupees will be given to the eligible persons, while in the second phase a loan of up to Rs 2 lakh can be taken.
• The beneficiaries will be given 5 -day basic training and 15 days or more advanced training after skill verification. There is a provision to provide daily allowance of Rs 500 in training. There is a facility to give a grant of Rs 15,000 as toolkit incentive. As an incentive for digital transactions, a maximum transaction of Rs 100 per month is fixed at Rs 1 per transaction.
• According to the information received from the District Trade and Industry Center, people working in 18 areas can avail it under this scheme. Among them, masons, barber, malacar, washerman, tailor, lock -making, carpenter, blacksmith, goldsmith, stone carrier, stone -breaking, cobbler/shoe maker, boat manufacturer, basket/mat/broom , Dolls and toy makers, hammer & toolkit manufacturer, include fishing net manufacturer.
• To avail this scheme, the eligible person can register on the PM Vishwakarma Yojana portal through the Choice Center. This will require Aadhaar, mobile number, bank details and ration cards.
• To take advantage of this scheme, age 18 years should be completed. Under the self -employment/business development schemes, the beneficiary has not taken loans under any government scheme in the last 5 years. Only one member of the family will be eligible under the scheme. The person working in government service and their family members will not be eligible for the plan.

3 players from Haryana selected for National Sports Award 2023

According to information received from Haryana's Information, Public Relations and Language Department on December 21, 2023, 3 players from Haryana will be honored with the National Sports Award 2023 for outstanding performance in the Games.

• Under the National Sports Award 2023, Haryana golfer Deeksha Dagar has been selected for the Arjuna Award.
• Sunil Kumar and Antim Panghal will get the Arjuna Award in wrestling under the National Sports Award 2023.
• Along with this, Kurukshetra University has been declared the 2nd runner -up of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (MAKA) Trophy 2023.
• It is to be noted that the National Sports Awards are given every year by the Ministry of Youth Program and Sports to recognize & honor excellence in sports.
• For the year 2023, 2 players will be given Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award 2023 and 26 players will be given the Arjuna Award 2023. While 5 instructors will get the Dronacharya Award.
• Along with this, 3 players will be awarded Dhyan Chand Award 2023 for the achievement of life in sports and sports.
• All these National Sports Awards will be presented by the President of India at a special ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on January 9, 2024.

Jharkhand Assembly again passes Domicile Bill

Why in News?

According to the information received from the media on December 21, 2023, the Domicile Bill based on 1932 land records has been passed again by the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly.

Key Points

• In this Domicile Bill, land records of 1932 have been recognised to determine the residence status of the people.
• The bill provides that only the persons listed in Khatian (land records) or their ancestors will be considered local residents of Jharkhand.
• On the basis of this, they will be entitled to third and class government jobs in the state.
• It may be noted that the Domicile Bill passed by sound opinion was recently returned by Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan with some suggestions.
• The Government of Jharkhand passed the Domicile Bill 2022 on November 11, 2022 during a special session for the definition of local people and other benefits in Jharkhand, also known as the 1932 Khatian Bill.
