State's Largest Jain Kirti Stambh Inaugurated

Why In News?

  • On August 21, 2022, Shwetambar Jain Saint Lalitprabh and other Jain munigans inaugurated the state's largest 35 feet Jain Kirti Stambh at Kotwali Chowk in capital Raipur.

Key Points

  • Red stones of Rajasthan have been used to make this Kirti Pillar built at Kotwali Chowk.
  • All the symbols of Jainism have been used in this Kirti Stambh. Four lions are also depicted around the column. Artisans from Gujarat have beautifully carved symbols of Jainism on stones.
  • The specialty of this Kirti Pillar is that iron has not been used anywhere in it. It is made by adding red stones from bottom to top. It will be safe for years even in thunderstorms, storms.
  • Earlier this pillar was only eight feet in height, which has been newly built by breaking during road widening.

Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana and Godhan Nyay Yojana

Why In News?

  • On August 20, 2022, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, on 'Sadbhavna Diwas', the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Late Rajiv Gandhi, gave the second installment of 'Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana' and 'Godhan Nyay Yojana' to more than 26 lakh farmers of the state.   • Under 'Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana', the second installment of input subsidy of Rs 1745 crore was transferred through online mode in the bank accounts of 26 lakh 21 thousand 352 registered farmers for Kharif season 2021. Earlier on May 21, 2022, Rs 1745 crore was paid to the farmers of the state as the first installment of this scheme.
  • 14 thousand 665 crore rupees have been paid to the farmers since the launch of 'Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana' including the amount paid in the second installment.
  • Under this scheme, Rs 5627 crore was paid as input subsidy in 4 installments to 18.43 lakh farmers in Kharif 2019. Similarly, input subsidy of Rs 5553 crore was given to 20.59 lakh farmers of Kharif year 2020. This amount of input subsidy is being given to farmers to reduce crop cost price, increase productivity, promote crop diversification.
  • Similarly, under 'Godhan Nyay Yojana', a total of Rs. Under this, Rs 2.64 crore was paid to cow dung vendors and Rs 2.60 crore to Gothan committees and self-help groups.
  • 158.24 crore has been paid to the villagers selling cow dung since the launch of Godhan Nyay Yojana. Similarly, Rs 154.02 crore has been paid to Gothan committees and self-help groups so far.
  • On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that as input subsidy under 'Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojna', Rs 9,000 per acre to paddy producing farmers, Rs 10,000 per acre to farmers taking fragrant paddy and other Kharif crops and for planting trees. 10 thousand rupees per acre will be given to the farmers for 3 years.
  • He said that by giving input subsidy along with loan waiver and support price to the farmers, the farmers have become self-reliant from the burden of debt and are moving towards improving the economic condition of their families. The farmers who use the most vermi compost will be honored on the occasion of Rajyotsava.
  • The Chief Minister said that there are few fertilizer factories in the country. Chhattisgarh has made a lot of progress in this matter, fertilizer factory has been started from village to village with the production of vermi compost in Gothans. The use of vermi compost is increasing the quality and fertility of the land. Agricultural products are getting rid of toxic elements. The state is moving towards organic farming. In the coming time, electricity will also be made in Gothans. Paint is also being made from cow dung.
  • Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey said that the economy of Chhattisgarh has improved due to 'Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana' and 'Godhan Nyay Yojana'. Banks have increased confidence in farmers. He said that due to this scheme, the number of farmers has increased by 8 lakh in the last three years.

  • A total of 82 indicators related to social, economic, environmental and other aspects have been included in the 'District Indicator Framework'.
