Best Tehsildar Samman
Why in News
- Recently, the Rajasthan government has decided to give the best Tehsildar Samman to one Tehsildar from every district for the best services rendered during the discharge of the responsibilities in the revenue sector.
Key Points
- A district level selection committee will be constituted for the selection of one Tehsildar from each district of Rajasthan. Additional District Collector (Administration) will be the convener in this committee, while the sub-divisional officer (headquarters) and another sub-divisional officer nominated by the district collector have been nominated as members.
- This committee will select the name of a Tehsildar and send it to the Revenue Board under the remarkable services rendered on the basis of the parameters laid down during the last financial year.
- On the basis of the proposals received from the districts, the selected Tehsildars would be honored with the best Tehsildar Samman by organizing a state level felicitation ceremony.

Filariasis Eradication Campaign
Why in News
- On August 23, 2021, Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta launched the Filaria Eradication Campaign in 12 filarial affected districts of the state. This program will run from August 23 to August 27, 2021 in the filarial affected areas.
Key Points
- This campaign is being run under the National Filariasis Eradication Program of the Health Department of Jharkhand.
- During the campaign two medicines – DEC and Albendazole will be given to the beneficiaries in 11 districts of the state – Giridih, Chatra, Dumka, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Garhwa, Godda, Hazaribagh, Khunti, Lohardaga and Ranchi, while in Simdega three medicines will be given to the beneficiaries. - DEC, albendazole and ivermectin will be given.
- In this campaign, anti-filaria medicines will be given free of cost to the beneficiaries at booths and door to door visits. The distribution of medicines will be done in compliance with the COVID-19 protocol.
- Out of the above 12 districts, about 1 crore, 78 lakh targeted beneficiaries will be given anti-filaria drugs.
- Under this programme, anti-filarial medicine will not be given to children below 1 year of age, pregnant women and critically ill persons and children 1-2 years of age will be given Albendazole only.
- The State Health Department had earlier also conducted Filariasis Eradication Campaign during 22-27 February, 2021 in four districts- Sahibganj, Bokaro, Dhanbad and Ramgarh, in which more than 70 lakh beneficiaries were given anti-filaria drugs.
- Filariasis is a tropical parasitic disease that is transmitted by mosquitoes and affects the lymph nodes and lymphatic vessels. Filariasis is one of the leading causes of disability. The abnormal swelling of the feet due to filariasis is commonly called elephantiasis.

IIT-Medical Zone Launched
Why in News
- On August 24, 2021, Chhattisgarh's School Education Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam launched the IIT-Medical Zone (Coaching Center) for the preparation of national level medical and engineering examinations at Dhand Campus, Civil Lines, Raipur.
Key Points
- For the first time in Chhattisgarh, IIT-Medical Zone is providing coaching to students through digital medium along with classroom studies to prepare for competitive examinations.
- Through this institute, students will be prepared for competitive exams through quota and teachers of Delhi at very low fees.

Child Protection Month
Why in News
- Child Protection Month was launched in the state on August 24, 2021. It will run from August 24 to September 28, 2021.
Key Points
- Under this, about 26 lakh 40 thousand children in the age group of 9 months to 5 years will be given Vitamin 'A' syrup in the vaccination centers and Anganwadis of the state and About 27 lakh 60 thousand children of 6 months to 5 years will be given iron, folic acid syrup supplements.
- The implementation of the program will be done on the vaccination day to be organized every Tuesday and Friday with the help of ANM and Anganwadi workers.
- Apart from this, vaccines of BCG, Hepatitis B, DPT, OPV, Measles-Rubella and Pentavalent will also be given to the children who have been vaccinated and targeted for routine vaccination. .
- During the Shishu Protection Month, children will be weighed to make them malnutrition free and highly malnourished children will be identified and treated in nutrition rehabilitation centers to improve their nutritional status.
- During this, supplementary nutritious food will be provided to the malnourished children in Anganwadis also. Parents will be given information about nutritious food according to the age of the children.
- Under the Child Protection Month, counseling will also be given to pregnant women and children during family visits by ANMs and Anganwadi workers.
- Various activities will be organized in health centers and Anganwadis to improve the health of children, in which health, women and child development and education departments will work in coordination.

'Nature Vidya' Web Portal

- On August 23, 2021, Uttarakhand's Forest and Environment Minister Harak Singh Rawat launched the 'Nature Vidya' web portal related to environmental education.
Key Points
- In order to overcome the shortage of environmental Hindi resources for teachers in government schools of Uttarakhand, Prakriti Vigyan Initiative (NSI) in collaboration with JBGVS has started a bilingual Hindi-English website 'Nature Vidya', which is specially designed for environmental education fulfills.
- The portal provides a wide range of simple tools for nature educators to engage children outdoors, covering topics such as ecology, waste, climate change, etc.
- This portal will for the first time provide sophisticated tools in Hindi to the grassroot level teachers, as well as help in any future school disruptions.
- Along with this, Rawat also released a Hindi book on Peepal tree and its ecology named 'Rhasyamai Garden' written by Shruti Rao. This book helps children learn important ecological concepts by looking at trees like peepal.
