Task Force Constituted for Environmental and Climate Awareness and Protection in All Universities of the State

Why In News?

Recently, on the directions of Governor Anusuiya Uikey, a letter has been sent to all the universities by the Raj Bhavan Secretariat for setting up of a Task Force for awareness and conservation of environment and climate in all government and private universities of the state.

Key points

  • It may be mentioned that this letter has been issued to all the universities by the Raj Bhavan Secretariat in pursuance of the instructions received at the Governor's Conference held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in November 2021 in New Delhi.
  • As per the instructions received in the Governor's Conference, a task force will be set up in all the universities to engage the students to keep the country's environment clean by 2030 and to achieve the goals of renewable energy for the economic development of the country.
  • In this regard, all the universities have been directed to constitute a Task Force at the earliest and to send the report of the work done by the Task Force to the Raj Bhavan Secretariat, Raipur within the time-frame in each month.
  • Further, on the directions of Governor Anusuiya Uikey, a letter has been sent by Raj Bhavan Secretariat for organizing cleanliness and tree plantation programme in all the universities and colleges affiliated to them in the State.
  • It may be noted that cleanliness and tree plantation programme is to be organized with an aim to keep all the universities and their affiliated college premises in the state green and clean and to create awareness about environment protection among students.

FGR Portal started as a pilot project

Why In News?

On July 21, 2022, the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and the Weather Based Crop Insurance were prepared for online hearing and redressal of grievances of farmers regarding the Grievance Redressal of Farmers (F.G.R.) The portal was launched in the state of Chhattisgarh as a pilot project through video conferencing.

Key points

  • Ritesh Chauhan, Joint Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Government of India, Chief Executive Officer C.S.C. Dr. Dinesh Kumar Tyagi launched the beta version of the FGR portal in Chhattisgarh through video conferencing.
  • After the utility and evaluation of this portal in the diagnosis of complaints, it will be implemented in all the states of the country. With the launch of this portal, farmers will no longer have to make rounds of any office or official for redressal of crop insurance related grievances, nor will they have to submit an application in writing.
  • Farmers can call the toll-free number 14447 to lodge their complaint, which will be promptly diagnosed. Farmers will also be able to get information about the diagnosis of their grievances through the portal.
  • It has been launched as a pilot project in the state of Chhattisgarh, the first in the country. The State of Chhattisgarh has been selected as a pilot project of this portal in view of the remarkable achievements made in the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana in the State.
  • It is worth mentioning that the State of Chhattisgarh is one of the leading states in the country in the implementation of crop insurance. Chhattisgarh is the first state in the country to pay its farmers the crop insurance claim amount of Rabi season 2022, the first in the country. In the year 2021-22 , 5 lakh 66 thousand farmers were paid an insurance claim amount of Rs.10.63 crore.
