Patna's State-Of-The-Art Planetarium

Why in News

  • Recently, a 6-member team from Kolkata inspected the planetarium located in Patna, after which the work of digitizing this planetarium has started.

Key Points

  • Patna Planetarium will be the first such planetarium in the country, where 6 Red, Green and Blue (RGB) Pure Laser Projectors will be installed. There are many types of colors in these projectors.
  • These projectors will combine RGB rays through a computer to create the actual colors for the show, giving the audience a feeling of being in space.
  • This projection system will be equipped with suitable and modern technology according to the 16 meter diameter dome area. Its total cost will be Rs 36 crore 13 lakh 20 thousand.
  • This projector will provide the facility to watch 2D and 3D shows.
  • Significantly, there are 22 planetariums in the country, out of which Kolkata Science City and Karnataka Pilikula Swami Vivekananda Planetarium have 3D projectors. All other planetariums have 2D projectors.
  • It is known that apart from Patna in Bihar, the construction work of planetarium in Gaya and Bhagalpur is also in progress.
  • RGB Pure Laser Projector has a lifespan of more than 40 thousand hours. It has a cooling system. There is no harmful effect on the eyes from this projector. It has a higher brightness than a digital projector.

National Mission for Inter-disciplinary Cyber Physical System

Why in News

  • On February 21, 2022, Divya Sampark Innovation Hub of IIT Roorkee was designated as a Technology Innovation Hub.
    • This designation was given for imparting training in technology development, skill development, entrepreneurship and startup subjects under the Multidisciplinary Cyber Physical System Scheme (NM-ICPS) of the Government of India in all the state engineering colleges of the state.

Key Points

  • NM-ICPS is an umbrella mission, which will address the issues of technology development, human resource development, entrepreneurship and startup development and related technologies in cyber physical systems.
  • The mission aims to create 15 technology innovation centres, 6 investment innovation centers and 4 technology based innovation centres.
  • This mission was approved by the Central Government in 2018 for a term of 5 years.

Indore ranks first in the high risk group of HIV and AIDS in Madhya Pradesh

Why in News

  • Recently, the Madhya Pradesh AIDS Control Society has released a report. The report states that Indore ranks first in the high risk group of AIDS, that is, the risk is highest here.

Key Points

  • Indore has more female sex workers than other cities, but the most surprising thing is that there are more GAY. In the cases of GAY, Gwalior is second, Jabalpur is third and Bhopal is at number four.
  • Madhya Pradesh AIDS Control Society is working through non-governmental organizations for the prevention of HIV and AIDS among 55 thousand people of high risk groups in the state. The society creates awareness among people in the high risk category and also works to conduct HIV screening, and treatment is provided to those who are HIV positive.
  • HIV screening is also done for sex partners and children of HIV positive patients, so that the infection can be prevented from spreading.
  • There are about 12,000 MSM (Men who have Sex with Men) in the High Risk Group in Madhya Pradesh. Maximum 1570 are recorded in Indore district. 849 in Gwalior, 795 in Jabalpur and 766 in Bhopal, while 8 people in Agar-Malwa and 2 in Sidhi are in the record of dead category.
  • Indore is also ranks one in the case of Female Sex Workers (FSW). The information of about 35,000 female sex workers in the state is registered with the AIDS Control Society. The maximum number of FSW in Indore is 2513. After this there are 2464 FSWs in Chhindwara.
  • Number of Injecting Drug Users (IDUs) i.e. people who are intoxicated through injection syringes has been recorded to be about 8 thousand. The maximum number of people belonging to the IDU category are 1303 in Jabalpur district, 1223 in Bhopal and 1089 in Rewa.
  • KD Tripathi, Project Director, Madhya Pradesh AIDS Control Society said that about 68 targeted intervention projects are being run to reach different groups in the high risk category.
  • Work is being done to provide regular medicines and treatment to HIV infected by linking them with AET centers.
  • About 1652 FICTC (Facilitated Integrated Counseling and Testing Center) are operating in Madhya Pradesh for the screening of HIV.

Restoration of Bateshwar Temples

Why in News

  • Recently, Infosys has resumed the restoration of 200 temple clusters of Bateshwar located in Morena, Madhya Pradesh.

Key Points

  • The work of conservation of Bateshwar temple groups was started in the year 2005 by the then Regional Superintendent of Archaeological Survey of India KK Muhammad.
  • Between 2005 and 2011, 60 temples were renovated.
  • These temples are dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu and Shakti, that is they represent the three major traditions of Hinduism (Shaiva, Vaishnava and Shakta).
  • According to the Archaeological Directorate of Madhya Pradesh, this group of 200 temples was built during the reign of the Gurjara-Pratihara dynasty.

HSBTE ties up with Jindal Stainless Company

Why in News

  • With a vision to empower the students studying in Polytechnic Institutes of Haryana in Stainless Steel Technology and Applications, Haryana State Board of Technical Education (HSBTE) has entered into an MoU with 'Jindal Stainless Company'.

Key Points

  • This MoU will prove to be a milestone in the direction of making the youth self-reliant under the self-reliant India campaign. The MoU will pave the way for a new range of vocational courses and will take the industry to new heights by meeting students who are proficient in stainless steel.
  • Under this partnership, two modules will be launched on stainless steel.
    • A compulsory module will be introduced for the fourth semester mechanical engineering students of all government polytechnics in Haryana. This module will be part of Materials and Metallurgy subject and will consist of 10 lectures. It will be institutionalized in all 25 polytechnic colleges of Haryana, benefitting more than 3,000 students every year.
  • The said course is scheduled to start from March 2022. In addition, an elective course of 3 credits, 42 lectures will be started for the fifth semester mechanical engineering students at Government Polytechnic Hisar.
  • 'Jindal Stainless Company' will set up a practical laboratory at Government Polytechnic Hisar, where students will get practical knowledge of welding and fabrication of stainless steel. In this way, apart from job opportunities, students will also get industry experience and training.

New List of Tribal and Regional Languages

Why in News

  • Recently, the Jharkhand State government has released a new list of tribal and regional languages for appointment to district level posts.

Key Points

  • A notification in this regard has been issued by the Personnel Department. Along with this, the notification issued on December 24 related to the list of tribal and regional languages for district level appointments has been deleted. Earlier Urdu was included in the list of regional languages.
  • In the new list of regional languages Bhojpuri from Bokaro and Magahi & Bhojpuri from Dhanbad have been removed.
  • This list has been released by JSSC marking the languages district wise for district level posts in the matriculation and inter level competitive examination.
  • It is noteworthy that various organizations opposed the inclusion of Bhojpuri and Magahi languages in the list of regional languages in Bokaro and Dhanbad. Several JMM leaders and several organizations, including Education Minister Jagarnath Mahto, had demanded the government to remove Bhojpuri and Magahi from the list of regional languages.

  • At the conclusion of the 21-day National Refresher Course organized by Birsa Agricultural University (BAU) College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Ranchi, experts stressed on integrating cow, buffalo, goat, pig, poultry, fish and duck farming activities into integrated farming. .

  • Incorporating the latest technologies of livestock management into the farming system is a better option for doubling farmers' income, which will lead to better livelihood and nutritional security of small and marginal farmers in the country.
  • It is worth noting that about 60 integrated farming systems have been identified and developed according to irrigated and non-irrigated conditions for different climatic zones across the country.
  • In research, scientists have found the integrated farming system to be the most suitable means of increasing the income of the farmers of the country.
  • Integrated farming system is a complete agricultural management system, which aims to provide more sustainable agriculture. It integrates livestock and crop production into agricultural systems.
  • Integrated farming systems have revolutionized the traditional farming of livestock, aquaculture, horticulture, agro-industry and allied activities. The system includes an interrelated set of other industries with crop activity as the basis, wherein 'waste' from one component becomes an input to another part of the system, thereby reducing costs and improving soil health. Along with this there is an increase in production and income.

Distribution of Fortified Rice in Aspirational and High Burden Districts

Why in News

  • Recently, in the meeting of the Council of Ministers, an important decision has been taken for distribution of fortified rice in aspirational districts and Highburden districts to tackle the problems like Malnutrition and Anemia.

Key Points

  • Fortified rice will be distributed by the state government to the ration card holder families of the state scheme under the public distribution system in 10 aspirational districts and 2 high burden districts in the financial year 2022-23. The state government will bear the cent percent cost of rice fortification.
  • The fortified rice will be distributed in 10 aspirational districts of the state - Korba, Rajnandgaon, Mahasamund, Kanker, Narayanpur, Dantewada, Bijapur, Bastar, Kondagaon, Sukma and 2 high burden districts Kabirdham and Raigarh.
  • In these districts, fortified rice will be distributed in the state scheme ration cards on the same lines as the National Food Security Act ration cards.
  • 'Fortified' rice is rich in iron and vitamins. This rice contains vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B12, folic acid, iron and zinc, a mixture of all the nutrients. Along with supplying essential nutrients in the diet of the people, it is helpful to a great extent in the control of malnutrition.

One State, One Wealth Tax Assessment System

Why in News

  • GIS mapping of cities is being done to implement a uniform tax assessment system of property tax in the state of Uttarakhand.

Key Points

  • 14 cities of Uttarakhand have been included in the first phase, out of which GIS mapping of 4 cities- Dehradun, Haridwar, Haldwani and Rudrapur is in the final stage.
  • In the second phase, surveys for house tax will be done in all the Nagar Panchayats.
  • Under this scheme, geo-ranking of all residential and commercial buildings will be done by GIS mapping of the municipal area and all the buildings will be given a smart card with a unique ID number.
  • In this ID, all the details including the photo of the building, size, covered area, name of the landlord, house number will be recorded.
