A new website and GPS based location indicator launched for workers and factory owners

Why in News??

On December 19, 2023, Haryana Government launched a new website (https://hrylabour.gov.in/) and GPS based location indicator for workers and factory owners.

Key Points

• Rajiv Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Labor Department, said that workers will be able to get not only the location information of help centers, departmental offices, labor welfare offices and health services in their vicinity but will also be able to get the best route and necessary information to reach them.
• Principal Secretary of the Labor Department, Rajeev Ranjan said that through this, the locations of various facilities like Labor Department offices, help centers, ESI dispensaries and hospitals have been included. With this, information about all areas related to the department will be available to the workers on a single portal.
• This system has been specially designed to facilitate those workers who did not have accurate knowledge of their field. This will help them get the help they need and receive the benefits they deserve.
• Principal Secretary of the Labor Department, Rajiv Ranjan said that through the website of Labor Department, detailed information about various services, contact details, service hours and other important information will also be available to the workers.

1.5 crore houses in Saran, Bihar will get free internet connection

Why in News??

According to the information received from the media on December 20, 2023, under the Bharat Net Udyam Yojana, broadband connection will be provided to every village and every house in Saran district of Bihar through optical fiber gateway.

Key Points

• Saran MP Rajeev Pratap Rudy said that to connect the villages of Saran district with internet, 105 kilometers of optical fiber is being laid again in the district, which is targeted to be completed by March 2024.
• MP Rajeev Pratap Rudy said that rural areas will be empowered with broadband connection, people will be able to get treatment with the help of global doctors and families will be able to save money on preparing their children for competitive exams and village children will be able to prepare for competitive exams while staying in the village itself.
• MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy said that television, telephone, iPad, computer, desktop can all be used simultaneously in high speed internet. Along with this, there is no need to install separate phones in the houses because along with the free connection, a land line phone will also be installed.
• It may be noted that MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy had already campaigned for internet connection in Saran district. In this campaign, people are being given free internet connection through pink colored forms. In this, a six-month plan of Rs 999 is being given.

Tribal areas with population more than 100 will be connected by roads in Uttarakhand

According to the information received from the media on December 20, 2023, under the Prime Minister's Tribal Justice Maha Abhiyan (PM Janman), such tribal areas of Uttarakhand, whose population is more than 100, will be connected by roads.

Key Points

• Under this campaign, Uttarakhand has so far got four roads and eight bridges.
• Chief Executive Officer of PM Gram Sadak Yojana, Karmendra Singh said that under this scheme, in the 1st phase in Uttarakhand, Hasanpur of Dehradun district, Jaspur Chamaria of Haridwar, Kherwadi of Champawat and Chhipaltara settlements of Pithoragarh were selected to be connected by road routes.
• In Uttarakhand, URRDA (Uttarakhand Rural Road Development Agency), the nodal agency of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, has been given the responsibility of construction of roads and bridges.
• Karmendra Singh said that under this scheme, roads ranging from 2 km to 13 km will be built.
• It should be noted that 5 tribes live in Uttarakhand, Bhotia, Tharu, Jaunsari, Boxa and Raji. They were declared a Scheduled Tribe in the year 1967. Of these, the Boxa and Raji are particularly vulnerable tribal groups (PVTGs).
• It is worth mentioning that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced this campaign from Khunti, Jharkhand on the occasion of Tribal Pride Day on November 15, 2023.

Dr. Raman Singh becomes Speaker of Chhattisgarh Assembly

• Protem Speaker Ramvichar Netam announced the election of Dr. Raman Singh unopposed in the House.
• Dr. Raman Singh has been the Chief Minister, MP, MLA and Union Minister of Chhattisgarh thrice.
• In the assembly elections held in November 2023, Dr. Raman Singh defeated Congress candidate Girish Dewangan by a margin of 45,084 votes.
• Dr. Raman Singh, a seven-time MLA, has been representing Rajnandgaon assembly seat since 2008.
• Dr. Raman Singh was also elected as Lok Sabha MP in the year 1999.
• It may be noted that Dr. Raman Singh has discharged his responsibilities as Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.

Modern Cow Shed will be built in Lucknow on the lines of Switzerland

Why in News?

On December 20, 2023, Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal and Municipal Commissioner Inderjit Singh said that a new cow shed will be built on the lines of Switzerland in Uttar Dhauna village.

Key Points

• It may be noted that this proposal was passed in the Lucknow Municipal Corporation Executive meeting. At the same time, 13 proposals were passed, including making the shooting range of the Municipal Corporation of international standard.
• It will be developed on 10 hectares of land under the cow tourism policy of the Uttar Pradesh government. Rs 32.63 crore will be spent on this. The name of this cow shed will be ‘Manoratha’ cow shed. About two thousand cows can be kept here.
• Cows will not be kept tied in this cow shed. There will be a maximum open area in which they can roam and graze. Only milch cows will be kept in the cowshed. A glimpse of Indian culture will be visible in the cowshed.
• Cows will be given a natural environment in the cow shed. The entire field will remain raw. There will be a field there for them to graze. With this, there will be no need to pick up the cow dung. The dung will dry in the same field and become manure.
• The Gaushala will be developed in such a way that it also becomes a center of tourism. For this, a cow museum and slaughter place will be built. Arrangements for Annapurna restaurant, pathways, parking, landscaping will be made. Employee accommodation, veterinary hospital and sewerage-drainage work will also be done.

State's Purvanchal University joins top Universities of the country, gets A+ rank in NAAC

On December 20, 2023, Vice Chancellor of Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Jaunpur, Prof. Vandana Singh said that the university has joined the top universities of the country by achieving A+ grade in the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) grading.

Key Points

• It may be noted that Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University has received A Plus grading in the National Assessment Accreditation Council (NAAC) after a long exercise. The NAAC team had conducted on-site inspections in the university from December 3 to 5. After this the result has been released.
• The university achieved B+ grade in NAAC in the year 2016, which ended in 2020. After this, due to Covid and other reasons the university could not apply for it for two years.
• After the NAAC evaluation report released in Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, the university will get a good opportunity to participate in all the universities of the country and state. The university will now become the center of education in Purvanchal. New startups will start, multinational companies will be called for campus selection.
• Vice Chancellor Prof. Vandana Singh said that now students from abroad and other states of the country will also be attracted to study. After getting A+ grade, the central government will provide crores of rupees for sports resources and skill development and entrepreneurship.
• He said that the university will now apply for National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking.
