Uttar Pradesh Dairy Development and Promotion of Milk Production Policy-2022

Why In News?

  • On October 20, 2022, Uttar Pradesh Additional Chief Secretary of Milk Development Department Dr. Rajneesh Dubey notified the Uttar Pradesh Dairy Development and Milk Production Promotion Policy-2022.

Key Point

  • Dr. Rajneesh Dubey said that the objective of this policy is to increase the level of milk processing from 10 to 25 percent and increase the milk available for the market from 44 to 65 percent and it will benefit from the establishment of a new unit manufacturing milk products such as cheese, ice cream etc. This policy will be effective for five years.
  • The policy will also be available on purchase of milk station equipment, bulk milk coolers, refrigerated vans, cooling vans, road milk tankers, ice cream trolleys etc. for setting up cold chains.
  • He said that for a minimum increase of 25 percent in the establishment or expansion of milk processing and milk products manufacturing dairy units in all the districts of the state, 10 percent of the cost of plant, technical civil works and spare parts, up to a maximum of Five crore rupees and five percent of the rate of interest payable on loans of plant machinery, technical civil works and spare parts, maximum 1000 crores of rupees will be given. In this, a maximum of Rs 7.50 crore will be given for five years for setting up a plant for a new animal feed and animal nutrition production unit.
  • In this policy, 2.50 crore will be given for technical work and one crore for quality control equipment, such as automatic milk collection unit (other than cold chain).
  • For the establishment of cold chain, one crore will be given for refrigerated vans, insulated vans, road milk tankers, bulk milk coolers, ice cream trolleys and 2.50 crores will be given for expansion.
  • Two crore rupees will be given for the expansion of animal feed and animal nutrition products manufacturing unit. Two crore rupees will be given for setting up a plant of units manufacturing value-added milk products such as cheese, ice cream etc. under the Micro and Small Enterprises Sector. Payment, electricity charges will be reimbursed within a period of 10 years of installation of new units. exemption will be given under stamp duty policy.
  • Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the state government will give Rs 20 lakh every year for branding milk products of Uttar Pradesh for three years and this amount will be Rs 40 lakh for export promotion and 50 percent of the total cost will be given for sending samples of the product to other countries. Apart from this, a grant of Five lakh rupees will also be given for standardization of products.

Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympic Games

Why In News?

  • On October 20, 2022, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot concluded the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympic Games, which started from Luni Panchayat Samiti of Jodhpur in the state from August 29, at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Key Point

  • Chief Minister Gehlot said that a new history has been created in the country with rural Olympics. In this, more than 30 lakh villagers of all age groups showed strength in the field and about 10 lakh women took part and flew high.
  • It is noteworthy that the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympic Games have been organized for 1 month 22 days in the state. In this game, 6 sports (Kabaddi, Shooting Ball, Tennis Ball Cricket, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Hockey) were included and more than 30 lakh women and men of all age groups and about 3700 players showed their sports skills in the state level competition.
  • The Chief Minister felicitated the winning teams (first three places) and the best players with trophies, mementos at the closing ceremony.

  • In this ceremony, the certificate for the World Record was also handed over to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on behalf of the World Book of Records London. This certificate was received by him for the participation of more than 30 lakh players in the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympics and simultaneously organizing sports across the state.
  • On the occasion of the closing ceremony, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Ashok Chandna said that many important decisions including out-of-turn appointments to sportspersons, reservation in jobs, increase in the honor amount of medal winners have been taken in the state, which is also increasing the number of players in the state.
  • On the closing ceremony, Chief Minister Gehlot said that Rajiv Gandhi urban Olympics will also be organized from January 26 in the encouragement of sports and sportspersons.

Madhya Pradesh to Host Khelo India Youth Games 2022

Why In News?

  • On October 20, 2022, at the announcement program held at Ashok Hotel in New Delhi, Union and Youth Affairs Minister Anurag Thakur handed over the torch of the 5th 'Khelo India Youth Games-2022' to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and informed that The Khelo India Youth Games will be hosted by Madhya Pradesh this time.

Key Point

  • The 5th Khelo India Youth Games-2022 will be held in 8 cities of the state Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Mandla, Maheshwar and Balaghat from January 31 to February 11, 2023.
  • Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed that the sports budget in the state was Rs. 5 crore in the year 2003, which has now increased to Rs. 350 crore and 11 academies of 18 sports have been established in the state.
  • He said that efforts are being made to make the sports infrastructure of international standard in Madhya Pradesh, so that the players will not only get basic facilities in the academy but will also get stadiums, mini stadiums, coaching and training arrangements in every district.
  • The Chief Minister informed that various sports competitions are being organized at gram panchayat level to maintain the atmosphere of sports in Madhya Pradesh. Competitions for the elderly have also been organized in it.
  • He informed that for the first time in the Khelo India Youth Games, the traditional sport Mallakhamb has also been included. Mallakhamb is a state sport of Madhya Pradesh and the performance of the players of the state in this game is leading in the country.
  • It is known that in the Khelo India Youth Games-2021, the players of traditional sports Mallakhamb and Break Dancing of Madhya Pradesh performed brilliantly.
  • It is known that Break Dance has been included as a sport in Paris Olympics-2024.

6 Automated Vehicle Testing Stations to be set up in Haryana

Why In News?

  • On October 20, 2022, Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal, while chairing a meeting of the Committee of Secretaries, informed that six automated vehicle testing stations will be set up in the state for fitness check of vehicles through Automated Testing Stations (ATS).

Key Point

  • Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal said that these stations will be set up in Ambala, Faridabad, Hisar, Karnal, Gurugram and Rewari districts. These stations are likely to cost around Rs 116 crore.
  • He said that these stations will be built on PPP mode and it has been made mandatory by the central government to conduct fitness tests of heavy goods vehicles and heavy passenger vehicles from ATS from April 1, 2023. Apart from this, it is proposed to be implemented for medium goods vehicles, passenger vehicles and light freight vehicles from June 1, 2024. Therefore, it has become very important to set up automated testing stations in the state.
  • He said that in future, the scrap policy is also being considered to be linked to these automated testing stations, the vehicles which will not have fitness test from these stations will go directly to the scrap.
  • It was informed in the meeting that at present a vehicle fitness station is operating in Rohtak. In addition, 6 more new stations will be built. These stations will be designed in line with the vision of the next 20 years and will be built in 3 lanes, 4 lanes or 6 lanes.
  • The ATS uses several machines to automatically check the fitness of the vehicle and many new equipment can also be added in the future to check electric vehicles. The ATS conducts all the necessary tests automatically to check the fitness of the vehicle through mechanical equipment.
  • It was informed in the meeting that a draft has also been prepared to provide facilities for the people coming to get the fitness check of vehicles done in these stations. These will have facilities like ATM, lounge, cafeteria etc.

Jharkhand Awarded in Three Categories under PM Awas Yojana

Why In News?

  • The state of Jharkhand was awarded in three different categories for the successful implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the 'India Urban Housing Conclave 2022' held in Rajkot, Gujarat on October 20, 2022.

Key Point

  • Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, gave away the award to Jharkhand for its remarkable initiatives in women empowerment, better housing projects for leprosy affected patients and wide publicity of the scheme and public awareness.
  • In this program, under various components of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), the state has been rewarded for giving ownership of houses to thousands of women in the scheme under the Women Empowerment Initiative, Providing Work Opportunities to Rani Mistry and women in the construction sector.
  • Under the community-oriented project, it has been honored at the national level for providing better housing projects for leprosy affected and effective publicity of the scheme.
  • On behalf of Jharkhand, State Urban Administration Director Aditya Kumar Anand, Assistant Director Shailesh Priyadarshi, State Team Leader of PM Awas Yojana (Urban) Rajan Kumar and CLTC Deepak Kumar received the award.

Chhattisgarh Awarded at Indian Urban Housing Conclave

Why In News?

  • The state of Chhattisgarh has received two awards under the 'Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Award 2021' at the Indian Urban Housing Conclave organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India in Rajkot, Gujarat on October 20, 2022.

Key Point

  • Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, the work being done towards building a New Chhattisgarh and continuous development in every field including education, health, nutrition, agriculture and farmers welfare, infrastructure, the state has once again won two awards under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Award 2021, waving its flag in the country.
  • Chhattisgarh has received this award in the best community oriented projects and best performing nagar panchayat category.
  • It is worth mentioning that on the initiative of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, 'Mor Zameen-Mor Makaan' scheme was started in Chhattisgarh, which was linked to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), the families suffering from leprosy living in Asha Nagar of Nagar Palika Nigam Rajnandgaon were given all-equipped pucca houses to 61 families in convergence with other 19 central and state-promoted schemes. This improved their lifestyle.
  • Similarly, in Nagar Panchayat Gandai and Antagarh, special category beneficiaries were also provided pucca houses with all facilities and efforts were made to improve their lifestyle.
  • Appreciating these efforts for social upliftment in Chhattisgarh, the state of Chhattisgarh has been awarded the award for outstanding performance in the category of 'Best Community Oriented Projects' for social upliftment projects.
  • Apart from this, Nagar Panchayat Patan has got the third place in the 'Best Performing Nagar Panchayat' category all over India. This award has been given for excellent work like providing housing to the beneficiaries and making attractive houses by completing a large number of houses against the sanctioned houses under the 'Mor Zamin-Mor Makaan' scheme of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban).
  • It is noteworthy that Chhattisgarh has been given many awards in the last four and a half years by the Government of India for better implementation of various schemes and public welfare policies in the state.
