Storks and Stuff Wild Animal Museum in Zoological Park for Crane
Why in News?
- On July 20, 2022, in the meeting of the Shaheed Ashfaq Ulla Khan Zoological Park Committee held under the chairmanship of Manoj Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Forest and Environment Department of Uttar Pradesh, the park was to be constructed for the state's state bird Crane and Stuff Wild Animal Museum in the park. The decision was taken.
Key Points
- In the Shaheed Ashfaq Ullah Khan Zoological Park, an enclosure will be built for the state's state bird Crane with Rs 25 lakh. The rescued cranes will be kept in the zoo.
- Apart from this, the meeting also approved the development of an intervention center at a cost of Rs.25 lakh, where a stuff wild animal museum will be constructed, among other works.
- In the meeting, Dr. H. Raja Mohan, Director of Zoological Park, said that permission would be sought by sending a letter to the Central Zoological Park Authority about building a crane enclosure.
- Built over an area of 121 acres, 387 wild animals of 58 species have been kept in this zoological park. Enclosures and caves have been built here for animals like Babbar Lions , Gharials, Deer, Bears, Vultures, Leopards, various types of monkeys, etc. Aquariums have also been built for fish.
- Apart from this, houses have also been built in the zoological park for colorful butterflies coming from different countries of Asia. This is the first time that a butterfly house has been built in a zoological park.
- It is noteworthy that on March 27, 2021, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the only zoological park of Purvanchal 'Ashfaq Ulla Khan Zoological Park' in Gorakhpur district.
