'Transport Voucher Scheme' applicable for girl students also
Why in News?
On June 20, 2023, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot approved the proposal of the 'Transport Voucher Scheme' to provide relief to girl students studying in higher educational institutions of the state.
Key Points:
- Under the 'Transport Voucher Scheme', college students will also get bus fare from home to college.
- The state government will pay Rs 20 per day for commuting from a distance of more than 10 km to the college. This amount will be transferred to the bank accounts given by the students in the application form.
- Only girl students with a minimum of 75% attendance in the month will be eligible for the scheme. For this, there will be attendance on the Aadhaar-based biometric machine in the college.
- It is worth mentioning that at present, this benefit is payable for the girl students studying from class 9 to 12 commuting to the school from a distance of more than 5 km from home.
- It is worth mentioning that the Chief Minister had announced the implementation of a transport voucher scheme in higher educational institutions in the budget for the year 2023-24.
