17491 Cooperative Societies were abolished in Bihar

Why in News?

According to information received from the media on June 20, 2023, 17491 cooperative societies have been abolished in Bihar, leaving 25487 co-operative societies in the state.

Key Points:

  • Apart from PACS, dairy and fisheries cooperation committees, there are now 8884 other types of committees left in the state. The state now has the highest number of 2217 housing societies.
  • It is known that earlier there were a total of 42985 cooperative societies in the state. Many committees were not active for a long time. They didn't work through them. After the division of Jharkhand and Bihar, the legitimacy of many committees was lost. For this reason, these committees were closed.
  • Industrial Cooperation Committee, Cold Storage, Gramodaya, Oil Producers, Palm, Jaggery Producers, Irrigation Cooperation Committee, Joint Cooperation Agriculture, Boat Transport, Charmakar Sahyog and Sarvodaya Sahyog Samiti have been abolished in the state.
  • There are now only eight SC/ST cooperative societies in the state, one each in Lakhisarai-Muzaffarpur and three each in Nalanda and Patna. There is not a single women's welfare committee in Darbhanga and Siwan. Purnea has the highest number of women's welfare committees at 145. There is not a single jute committee in the state.
  • Apart from these, there are no transport committees in any district of the state except East Champaran, Jamui, Katihar, Lakhisarai, Nalanda, Patna, Rohtas, Saharsa, Sitamarhi, Vaishali and West Champaran.
  • There is no tourism committee anywhere in the state except Patna. There are five tourism committees in Patna.

'Transport Voucher Scheme' applicable for girl students also

Why in News?

On June 20, 2023, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot approved the proposal of the 'Transport Voucher Scheme' to provide relief to girl students studying in higher educational institutions of the state.

Key Points:

  • Under the 'Transport Voucher Scheme', college students will also get bus fare from home to college.
  • The state government will pay Rs 20 per day for commuting from a distance of more than 10 km to the college. This amount will be transferred to the bank accounts given by the students in the application form.
  • Only girl students with a minimum of 75% attendance in the month will be eligible for the scheme. For this, there will be attendance on the Aadhaar-based biometric machine in the college.  
  • It is worth mentioning that at present, this benefit is payable for the girl students studying from class 9 to 12 commuting to the school from a distance of more than 5 km from home.
  • It is worth mentioning that the Chief Minister had announced the implementation of a transport voucher scheme in higher educational institutions in the budget for the year 2023-24.

Union Transport and Highways Minister gave a big gift to Haryana

Why in News?

On June 20, 2023, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari inaugurated 11 flyovers on the eight-lane National Highway from Delhi to Panipat in the Sonipat district of Haryana.

Key Points:

  • The project is 24 km long and has cost around Rs 900 crore.
  • The Union Road Transport and Highways Minister also laid the foundation stone of Karnal bypass and the new bypass for Ambala city besides inaugurating 11 flyovers from Delhi to Panipat. The cost of these projects is about Rs.3700 crores.
  • On this occasion, The Chief Minister of the state Mr. Manohar Lal said that so far 17 National Highways have been constructed in the state and Haryana is perhaps the only state whose all the district centres have been connected with national highways.

The Haryana Pran Vayu Devta Pension Scheme

Why in News?

On June 20, 2023, Haryana's Forest and Environment Minister Kanwar Pal said that the state government will also give pensions to trees above 75 years of age on the lines of pensions given to elderly people. In this regard, the government has prepared and notified 'The Haryana Pran Vayu Devta Pension Scheme'.

Key Points:

  • This pension given under 'The Haryana Pran Vayu Devta Pension Scheme' will be Rs 2500 per year. Now people will be entitled to pension for trees above 75 years of age standing in the courtyard of their house and engaged in the field.
  • At present, this scheme has been made for 5 years, later it will be further improved based on the need and suggestions.
  • The scheme covers trees grown from a single seed. A grove of trees arising from a seed, like ficusbengalensis, would also be considered a single tree.
  • The scheme does not cover fallen trees, hollow, dead, dry or diseased trees. Trees standing on forest land will not be covered under this scheme.
  • The Environment Minister said that the decision to include which trees above the age of 75 years in 'The Haryana Pran Vayu Devta Pension Scheme' will be taken by a committee formed under the chairmanship of a divisional forest officer.
  • The amount of pension given by the state government for the maintenance of the Pran Vayu Devta tree will be sent to the bank account of the owner of the tree.
  • The pension of Pran Vayu Devta Tree will be increased every year on the lines of the 'Old Age Samman Pension Scheme'.

Governor released a Yoga book named 'Paramparik Yoga'

Why in News?

According to the information received from the media on June 20, 2023, the Governor of Jharkhand C.P. Radhakrishnan released the Yoga book named 'Paramparik Yoga' at the Raj Bhavan.

Key Points:

  • The yoga book 'Paramparik Yoga' is written by Dr. Parineeta Singh and Dr. Archana Kumari.
  • Dr. Parineeta Singh said that this is her third book based on Yoga. Prior to this, she has also written books named 'Yoga ek Drishti mein' and 'Abhyas'.
  • He said that through this book he wants to express his loyalty towards Indian culture. This book is useful for all age groups.
  • On the other hand, Dr. Archana Kumari said that in 'Paramparik Yoga', an attempt has been made to explain the subtle knowledge of Yoga in both theoretical and practical form. Simple language has been used in this book, which anyone can easily understand.
  • Dr. Parineeta Singh is working as a guest faculty at the School of Yoga, Ranchi University, while Dr. Archana Kumari is working as a yoga instructor at the State Yoga Center, Directorate of AYUSH and Health Department, Government of Jharkhand.

Why in News?

According to information received from the media on June 19, 2023, 21-year-old living icon Paul alias Vicky Kumar, a resident of Subhash Nagar, Phusro under Bokaro district of Jharkhand, has become the world's fastest male author by writing a book in four days.

  • He has been given this world record by the World Wide Book of Records for his book 'The Topper of Never Went to College'. This is Vicky's third world record.
  • It is known that his first book was 'The Topper of Never Went to School'.
  • Vicky has dedicated this book to his father Bharat Ram and his mother Bhavani Devi.

According to the information received from the Higher Education Department of Chhattisgarh on June 20, 2023, the state government has approved the establishment of 15 new government colleges in the state under the provisions made under the main head 2023-24.

  • According to the information, implementing the announcement made in the budget speech of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in the Vidhan Sabha, approval has been given by the state government for the establishment of colleges in remote areas of Chhattisgarh and other places.
  • Along with this, permission has been given to start classes along with approval for the creation of 495 posts at the rate of 33 posts per approved college.

CM inaugurated the new Patel Bhawan of the Police Department

According to information received from the media on June 20, 2023, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the new Sardar Patel Bhawan of the state police department.
