Prime Minister will Inaugurate Bokaro and Dumka Airports
Why In News?
According to information received from the media on September 18, 2023, the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Bokaro and Dumka airports of Jharkhand in January 2024.
Key Points:
- The Airports Authority of India has given the green signal for its operation. The licensing process of the airport has also been completed and flights will start flying from Bokaro and Dumka airports from January 2024.
- After the start of aircraft operations in Bokaro and Dumka, Jharkhand will be ahead of Bihar in aviation services.
- The Civil Aviation Ministry has also planned to revive the airports of Hazaribagh and Daltonganj after Bokaro, Dumka. Work on this has started.
- With the opening of Bokaro Airport, passengers from many cities including Dhanbad, Giridih, Purulia of West Bengal will get convenience.
- Bokaro Airport has met the security standards. After investigation, permission has been given to operate planes at the airport. Flybig and Alliance Air have received permission from DGCA to fly from Bokaro.
- 70-to-80-seater aircraft will operate from Bokaro airport. The length of the airport's runway is 5400 feet (about 1.65 km). Therefore, permission to operate small aircraft has been received from DGCA.
- It is known that BSL already had an airstrip in Bokaro. Here the work of developing other infrastructure including ATC tower, runway, fire feet, passenger lobby, main gate has also been completed.
