Devnarayan Pashupalak Housing Scheme

Why in News

  • On June 19, 2022, Rajasthan's Autonomous Government Minister Shanti Dhariwal gave home entry to the allottees by handing over possession of the Devnarayan Integrated Housing Scheme, prepared for the first time for cattle herders equipped with unique and modern facilities across the country.

Key Points

  • It was announced by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to develop Devnarayan Integrated Housing Scheme for the orderly educational, economic and social development of cattle herders of Kota city at a cost of Rs. 300 crore.
  • The foundation stone of the project was laid by the Chief Minister on August 17, 2020, in which 501 houses have been allotted by the Urban Development Trust Kota after completing the construction of 738 houses in the first phase.
  • The scheme provides for 1227 large residential plots for cattle herders. Out of these, construction of 738 houses has been completed and allotted to 501 cattle herders. The rear part of these plots has two rooms, kitchen, toilet, bathroom, verandah, fodder storage facility in an area of about 40 square meters. A shed has been constructed for animals in the front of the plot.
  • For the convenience of cattle owners, school building, veterinary hospital, society office, police post, power sub-station, high water reservoir, sewer line, park, drain, roads, STP, cattle fair ground and milk market were also constructed in the scheme. Apart from this, Primary Health Center, community building, theatre have been constructed according to the future requirement.
  • In the scheme, a biogas plant is being set up by the Urban Development Trust for the disposal of cow dung from about 15,000 animals, which will lead to the disposal of cow dung as well as the production of organic manure.
