Jyoti Surekha Vennam wins Gold Medal in Archery World Cup Step -1 Competition

According to the information received from the media on 19 April 2023 Archer Jyoti Surekha Venom of the Center of Excellence at Bahalgarh (Sonipat), North Zone Center of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), broke the Asian record and won the gold medal in the Archery World Cup Stage One-1 competition being held in Antalya city of Turkey.

- Jyoti Surekha Vennam has also equaled the world record set by Sara Lopez in 2015 during the Colombian National Selection event, breaking the Asian record in the Stage One-1 competition.
- The Indian archer shot 353 out of 360 in the first round and 360 out of 360 in the second round (total 713 points) to set the Asian record.
- Bahalgarh-based Sai's Executive Director Lalita Sharma said that the Archery World Cup Stage One-1 competition is being organized from 16 to 23 April in Antalya city of Turkey.
- World Championship 2021 silver medalist Jyoti Surekha shot 66 out of 72 shots to score 10 points. With this, she equaled the world record score set by Sara López in 2015 during the Colombian national selection event.
- Lalita Sharma said that Jyoti Surekha, a resident of Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, has been practicing at the Excellence Center of Archery in Sai, Bahalgarh of Sonipat since the year 2019.
- Significantly, Jyoti Surekha, a resident of Andhra Pradesh, is DC in Hyderabad. She is the first archer who was directly posted as DC by the government.
