Cabinet nod to National Center for Disease Control in Lucknow

Why in News?

On April 19, 2022, the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath approved the establishment of the National Center for Disease Control in Lucknow.

Key Points

  • This center in Lucknow is one of the total six centers to be set up across the country.
  • Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak informed that 2.5 acres of land has been given on lease for 30 years to NCDC at Jaitikheda in Sarojini Nagar, Lucknow.
  • Apart from this, some other decisions were also taken in the cabinet meeting, which are as follows-
    • The state government has also approved the proposal to transfer the 3000 square meter Bhagirathi Guest House at Alaknanda Guest House, Haridwar to Uttar Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation.
    • Heliports will be developed in Agra, Mathura and Prayagraj with the help of the private sector. Along with this, the tourism department will also get a helipad near Ramabai Ambedkar Maidan in Lucknow.
    • The proposal of land for Ayurveda Institute was also approved by the Government of Uttar Pradesh along with the permission of 4% reservation quota prescribed for the disabled in the UP Judicial Service Rules.

10th Meeting of Bihar State Wildlife Council

Why in News?

On April 18, 2022, the 10th meeting of the Bihar State Wildlife Board was held under the chairmanship of CM Nitish Kumar.

Key Points

  • In this meeting, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests cum Member Secretary Prabhat Kumar Gupta gave a presentation on the progress made so far on the decisions taken in the 9th meeting (August 2020) of the Bihar State Wildlife Council.
  • In the meeting, the proposal regarding wildlife clearance under Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary, Vikramshila Gangetic Dolphin Shelter, Rajauli (Nawada) Wildlife Sanctuary and Rajgir Wildlife Sanctuary was discussed.
  • Along with this, the proposal to send the proposal to make Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary a Tiger Reserve to the National Council of Wildlife and to declare the horse paras and wild boars causing damage to life and property was also discussed in detail.
  • Neeraj Kumar Bablu, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department said that a special request was made in the meeting to set up a center for conservation and rehabilitation of peacocks in Aran village of Saharsa district.

Udaipur Ranks Second in Smart City Ranking

Why in News?

Recently, Udaipur has been ranked second in the Smart City Rankings released by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

Key Points

  • In this ranking of 100 smart cities of the country, Udaipur has secured the second position for the first time with 122.8 points, while Surat city is at first position with 128.80 points and Agra is at third place with 120.39 points.
  • Apart from Udaipur, Jaipur is ranked 7th, Kota 16th and Ajmer 18th among other cities of Rajasthan.
  • It is worth mentioning that so far 77 projects like sewage network, water line laying, roadside ducting, underground wiring, sewage treatment plant, solid waste plant and bio-mining and waste plant have been completed in Smart City Udaipur at a cost of Rs.233.77 crore, while 21 projects worth Rs 653.12 crore are in operation.

Ladli Laxmi Utsav

Why in News?

On April 19, 2022, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in a meeting of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, directed senior officers to complete all necessary preparations for the state level Ladli Laxmi Utsav.

Key Points

  • Ladli Laxmi Utsav will be organized on May 2, 2022 in the capital Bhopal. In this, the beneficiary girls of Ladli Laxmi Yojana will be invited.
  • In this program, giving driving licenses to girls and selected girls in 'Maa Tujhe Pranam Yojana' will be sent to travel across the borders of the country.
  • Apart from this, the Utsav will also be organized at the panchayat level across the state from May 3 to 11, 2022. In this, Ladli Laxmis will be connected with various activities at the local level in different districts, such as health check-up of girls, distribution of folic acid tablets, rangoli and sports along with other competitions.
  • It is worth mentioning that Ladli Laxmi Yojana was started in the state from April 1, 2007 for the empowerment of the girl child. It has proved to be very useful in achieving the goals set under this scheme, such as improvement in sex ratio, development of positive attitude towards the birth of girl child, upgradation of educational level of girl child and improvement in health etc.

  • Child marriage is a heinous crime poster and pamphlet jointly created by Haryana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights and Independent Thought Organization.
  • In this poster and pamphlet, mainly information has been given about how to stop child marriage, Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act, 2012 and campaign against child marriage etc.
  • It is worth mentioning that the present chairperson of Haryana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights is Jyoti Banda, while the chairman of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights is Priyank Kanungo.

Committee formed to investigate Deoghar ropeway accident

Why in News?

Recently, a committee has been constituted by the Jharkhand government under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary, Finance Department Ajay Kumar Singh to investigate the Trikut Parvat ropeway accident in Deoghar, Jharkhand.

  • Apart from the chairman, three members have been included in the committee, in which Amitabh Kaushal, Secretary, Department of Tourism, will be a member nominated by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation along with a representative nominated by IIT-ISM Dhanbad.
  • Apart from this, on behalf of the chairman of the committee, any expert from any institution of the country can be called for cooperation.
  • This committee constituted under the chairmanship of Ajay Kumar Singh will give its inquiry report in two months.
  • It is worth mentioning that recently 48 people were trapped in a ropeway accident at Trikoot mountain in Deoghar, Those who were saved after an operation of about 50 hours, although three people also died in it.

Chhattisgarh's Godhan Nyay Yojana gets National Alets Innovation Award

Why in News?

The ambitious Godhan Nyay scheme of Chhattisgarh government has been awarded the Elets Innovations Award at the national level at the two-day Elets Atma Nirbhar Bharat Summit held in New Delhi on April 19, 2022. The state of Chhattisgarh has been given this award in the category of innovation in agriculture.

  • Dr. Ravi Gupta, Founder, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of Alets Technomedia Pvt Ltd and Secretary, Government of India, Ministry of Textiles, U.P. Singh jointly presented this award to RL Khare, joint director of Godhan Nyay Yojana.
  • It is noteworthy that the Godhan Nyay Yojana of the Government of Chhattisgarh has earlier received the 'Skoch Gold Award' for its outstanding contribution to environmental protection and sustainable development. This award was presented by Skoch Group to Godhan Nyay Yojana of Chhattisgarh on March 20, 2021 in New Delhi.
  • It is noteworthy that on the initiative of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Godhan Nyay Yojana was started in Chhattisgarh on July 20, 2020 from Hareli festival. Under this scheme, cow dung is being procured from livestock farmers and villagers at the rate of Rs.2 per kg.
  • Through this scheme, livestock protection and crop promotion and protection of the environment, control of stray animals, income to villagers and animal owners from the sale of dung, employment and income to women self-help groups from vermicompost and super compost and other products and organic farming. Got encouragement. The use of vermicompost and super compost manure is improving the quality of food grains and the fertility of the land and reducing the cost of cultivation.
  • With this scheme, dairy and animal husbandry have been encouraged and milk production has also started increasing.

Chandrabhaga River

Why in News?

On April 19, 2022, to clean the Chandrabhaga river, which is becoming a garbage dumping zone, the Muni ki Reti Municipality administration organized a special cleanliness drive and collected and disposed of the garbage.

  • Under this campaign, the sanitation workers under the leadership of Municipality President Roshan Raturi and Executive Officer Tanveer Marwah collected the garbage scattered everywhere in the Chandrabhaga river near Dhalwala area and sent it to the trenching ground for disposal.
  • Along with this, the municipal workers appealed to the people to keep it clean to save the existence of the Chandrabhaga river, as well as the nearby people were instructed that strict action would be taken for throwing dirt in the river.
