512 New Indira Cooks Inaugurated

Why In News?

  • On September 18, 2022, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot inaugurated 512 new Indira Rasoi in the state. After the operation of these new cooks, the number of Indira cooks in the state will increase to 870.

Key Points

  • On this occasion, the Chief Minister also felicitated Indira Rasoi operators of various districts of the state for their outstanding work. He congratulated the representatives of the associate institutions, Panther Education Society Jodhpur, Vidya Jan-Jagran Sansthan Dholpur, Shrinath Shikshan Training and Health and Social Welfare Society Rawatsar, wearing momentos and safas and representatives of Shri Manav Seva Samiti Bhilwara, Touch Stone Foundation Jaipur and Mewar Disabled Service Institute Chittorgarh. He was honoured with a letter and a memento.
  • The Chief Minister said that in the country, self- Indira Gandhi first gave the slogan of 'Garibi Hatao' for the welfare of the poor, backward and deprived. With this spirit, 'Indira Rasoi Yojana' is being operated by the state government to provide nutritious food to the common man with full respect and service.
  • The Chief Minister said that through the 'Indira Rasoi Yojana', launched with the resolution of 'no one should sleep hungry', nutritious food was provided by the government during the Corona period. During the Corona period, free food was also arranged for the economically weaker people.
  • The benefit of this scheme is being received by all sections of people including students and laboure's. Through this scheme, nutritious and full food is being made available to the common man for just Rs 8. The government is giving a grant of Rs 17 per plate in this scheme.
  • So far, more than 7 crore nutritious and delicious food plates have been served to the common man from 358 Indira cooks. With the establishment of 512 new cooks, a target has been set to take this number to about 14 crore. Soon more cooks will be started and the number of Indira cooks will be increased to 1000 as per the budget announcement.

Cricket Academy to be Established in Jodhpur

Why In News?

  • On September 18, 2022, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced the setting up of Rajasthan cricket association's cricket academy in Jodhpur while addressing the dedication ceremony of renovation works at Barkatullah Khan Stadium in Jodhpur.

Key Points

  • On this occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Rajasthan Cricket Association (ACA) and Jodhpur Development Authority (JDA) under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. O. U.) signed. It was signed by the Secretary of RCA and JDA. With this, the JDA handed over the responsibility of managing and operating the stadium to RCA.
  • It is noteworthy that various renovation works have been carried out by Jodhpur Development Authority at Barkatullah Khan Stadium at a cost of Rs 31 crore. These include gyms for players, 26,000 chairs, physio room, anti-doping room, press conference hall, media room, besides two red clay and three black clay pitches in the main ground and practice ground.
  • The Chief Minister said that the upcoming budget will be dedicated to the youth, including sportspersons. He appealed to the youth to give suggestions regarding the budget and said that at the time of budget, the suggestions will be seriously considered and a welfare budget will be made.
  • Referring to the operation of English medium schools for education according to global needs and 'Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Swasthya Bima Yojana', he talked about providing smart phones to one crore 35 lakh women of the state, in which internet facility will be available free of cost for 3 years. This will facilitate children's online education etc.

State's First Handicrafts Policy and Rajasthan MSME Policy-2022

Why In News?

  • On September 17, 2022, Rajasthan Industries and Commerce Minister Shakuntala Rawat released the state's first handicraft policy and Rajasthan MSME Policy-2022. This will not only lead to industrial development in the state, but will also increase the employment opportunities of craftsmen, artisans and artisans.

Key Points

  • Minister Shakuntala Rawat was addressing the Udyog Ratna, and Export Award function organized on the occasion of Rajasthan MSME Day in Jaipur. The commerce minister also released a coffee table book 'Rajasthani Artifacts' prepared on the handicrafts of Rajasthan on the occasion.
  • On this occasion, 29 exporters were honored with Export Promotion Awards and 13 entrepreneurs were also awarded Udyog Ratna Awards for their excellent performance in various categories.
  • Apart from this, investment MoUs worth Rs 14,000 crore were also exchanged with 29 entrepreneurs for the Invest Rajasthan Summit.
  • The industries minister said that with the implementation of the first handicraft policy of the state, artisans of textile, metal and wood, carpet, carpet, namda, ceramic and clay, painting, leather craft, jewelery etc. will be benefited and in the next 5 years in the field of handicrafts. More than 50 thousand new employment opportunities will be available.
  • He said that the objective of Rajasthan Handicrafts Policy-2022 is to provide better marketing system for the upliftment of handicrafts, revive traditional arts and extinct arts and create new employment opportunities.
