Approval of the Proposal to Upgrade 16 Government Minority Residential Schools to Secondary

Why in News?

On May 17, 2023, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot approved the proposal to upgrade 16 government minority residential schools of upper primary level to secondary schools.

Key Points

  • According to the proposal, Ramgarh Alwar, Bhaniyana Sakra Jaisalmer, Udaipur, Sikar, Burhan Ka Tala Barmer, Kanchanner Bharatpur, Nandera Bharatpur, Masuda Ajmer, Churu, Sawai Madhopur, Nagaur, Fatehpur Sikri, Tijara Alwar, Gharsana Sri ganganagar, Kuchdi Sam Jaisalmer and Abhey. Residential schools at Par Ramsar Barmer will be upgraded.
  • Out of these residential schools 9 are for boys and 7 are for girls. A total of 96 vacancies including 16 for Principal, 64 for Senior Teacher, 16 for Physical Education Teacher will be created for these schools.
  • With this approval of the Chief Minister, facilities for higher and quality education will be expanded in the state and students will be able to get the facility of residential schools. This will provide opportunities for students to continue their further studies closer to home.

Marudhara ka Maan Swachhta Samman-Samaroh-2023

Why in news?

On May 17, 2023, Abhay Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, Rajasthan Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Department, told that 'Marudhara ka Maan Swachhta Samman-Samaroh-2023' was organized by the Directorate of Rural Swachh Bharat Mission in the auditorium of Indira Gandhi Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Institute located in Jaipur.

  • Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Department has prepared women’s of self-help groups as Swachhta Sakhi under Rajivika. This innovation will continue further and will play an important role in the campaign of cleanliness.
  • On this occasion, the Additional Chief Secretary honored those who did commendable work in Swachh Bharat Mission Rural by giving them awards.
  • Bikaner got first place, while Sawai Madhopur and Jaisalmer got Second and third place respectively in the ceremony for their commendable work done in 'Retrofit to Twin Pit' campaign.
  • In the same sequence, Udaipur got first place while Sri ganganagar and Sirohi district got second and third place respectively for doing excellent work in the Model Village category.
  • In the Swachh Survekshan Grameen-2023, Sirohi district got first place while Pali and Udaipur got second and third place respectively in star category.
  • In the ODF Plus category of Swachh Survekshan Grameen-2023, in the district Udaipur got the first, Jaipur second and Bharatpur third place which got more progress from October 01, 2022 to April 30, 2023.
  • Women doing excellent work related to cleanliness were honored with 'Swachh Sujal Shakti Samman-2023' in the Marudhara ka Maan Swachhta Samman-Samaroh-2023'.
  • The contribution of Gram Panchayat Suwansa, Panchayat Samiti Taleda, Sarpanch Priyanka Goswami from District Bundi, Gram Panchayat Khairwada, Sarpanch Lakshmi Devi Ahari, Panchayat Samiti Khairwada, District Udaipur in making the village ODF Plus in excellent category and The contribution of Gram Panchayat Kannauj, Panchayat Samiti, sarpanch Manju Devi Jagetia of Bhadesar, district Chittorgarh in the plastic waste management category was commendable.
  • in the category of biodegradable waste in gray-water management, Village Panchayat Nadol, Panchayat Samiti Desuri, Sarpanch Phul Kanwar from District Pali,Gram Panchayat Takholi, Panchayat Samiti Tonk, District Tonk and Gram Panchayat Lakha Hakam, Panchayat Samiti Raisingh Nagar and village woman Tarawanti from District Sri ganganagar were awarded and Suman Chowdhary for her commendable work in monitoring the components of Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural) were awarded for their commendable work.
