Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata Green Field Project: Six Lane Road to be Built in Jharkhand in 6 phases
Why in news?
On May 17, 2023, According to received information from the media, the way has been cleared to start work on the six-lane green field project from Varanasi to Kolkata via Ranchi. For this project the tender of six phases of Jharkhand has been finalized.
Key Points
- This work has been given to different agencies. Which will construct about 200 km long road in the state of Jharkhand. which will go from Chatra district of the state to Purulia-Bankura in West Bengal via Hazaribagh, Ramgarh and Bokaro.
- The cost of the entire road is estimated to be more than Rs 12,000 crore. Here total 6 packages have been made from package 8 to package 13.
- this route will be total 620 km from Varanasi to Kolkata via Ranchi. Six Lane Road of G.T. Will be built parallel to Road 2. Its construction will start from Chandauli near Varanasi.
- Who got the work of which part:
- in the Package 8, from Sonepurbigha to Chatra and Chatra Bypass (37 Km.), the work of NH-22 in Tracks & Towers Pvt. Ltd., has been given to Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (TTIPL-RVNL) for Rs.1728 crore. Its civil cost is approximately 1272 crore Rupees.
- Under package 9, In Deoria 31 km of Chatra district on NH-100 of The work has been given to Ramkripal Construction for Rs 2400 crore. Its civil cost is approximately 962 crore Rupees and rupees 1412 crore is estimated to be spent on land etc.
- Under Package 10 of this project, the work of about 35 km up to Donoreshan village will be done for Rs 1546 crore. Its work has been given to HG Infra Engineering.
- In Package 11, work up to 37 km from Donoreshan village to junction of NH-20 has been given to CEIGALL India Limited. Its cost will be Rs 1855 crore. The civil cost will be Rs 1656 crore.
- In Package 12, CEIGALL India will construct a 33 km road from Bogambar on NH-20 to Lepo village on NH-30 at a cost of Rs 3048 crore.
- Under package 13 the work of 28 km of NH-320 from Lepo village to Kamalapur village Jharkhand-West Bengal border has been given to HG Infra Engineering limited. Its cost will be Rs 2255 crore.

Jharkhand's Sapna Won Bronze Medal in Federation Cup Athletics

According to information received from the media on May 17, 2023, Sapna Kumari of the state has won a bronze medal in 100 meter hurdles in the ongoing Federation Cup Senior Athletics Championship at Morabadi Football Stadium, Ranchi, Jharkhand.
Key Points
- Sapna won the medal by crossing the 100 meters hurdles in 13.58 seconds. The gold medal of this competition was won by Jyothi of Andhra Pradesh (12.89 seconds) and the silver medal won by Tamil Nadu's R. Nitya (13.44 sec).
- Significantly, a day earlier, Florence Barla had given Jharkhand a bronze medal in the 400 meter race.
- Commonwealth Games gold medalist Rupa Rani Tirkey presented medals to the winners in this championship.
