Proposal To Increase Labor Budget in MGNREGA

Why in News

• On March 17, 2022, the Union Ministry of Rural Development approved an increase of two crore 22 lakh man-days in the labor budget of MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) in Chhattisgarh.

Key Points

• After the approval of the Union Rural Development Ministry, now the target of employment generation under MGNREGA for the current financial year 2021-22 in the state will increase from 13.50 million man-days to 15.72 million man-days.
• Chhattisgarh had achieved the target of generating 13 and a half crore man-days of employment under MGNREGA in the current financial year 2021-22 in the month of February itself.
• It is noteworthy that so far this year, about 54 lakh five thousand workers of more than 28 lakh families have been given work under NREGA in the state. During this, employment of more than 100 days has also been provided to four lakh 75 thousand 374 families.

Sangeeta Khalkho: Bank Sakhi With the Most Transactions at the State Level

Why in News

• Recently, Sangeeta Khalkho, working as Bank Sakhi in Tattapani of National Rural Livelihood Mission, Balrampur, has become the most transacting bank Sakhi at the state level by transacting Rs 1 crore 36 lakh.

• Collector Kundan Kumar honored Sangeeta Khalkho for this in the joint district office premises.
• It is worth mentioning that on the occasion of International Women's Day (March 8, 2022) Sangeeta Khalkho was honored in the remembrance ceremony held at the state level office of Customer Service Center, Raipur.
• Sangeeta has opened 513 savings accounts through Khalkho Customer Service Center and has been given training from time to time by National Rural Livelihoods Mission (BIHAN).
• Collector Kundan Kumar, in view of the efficiency of Sangeeta Khalkho, has directed the District Manager of E-Governance to start a public service center in village Tattapani by giving her all the IDs for the operation of the public service center.
