Important Decisions Taken in the Meeting of the Council of Ministers

Why in News

On February 18, 2022, a meeting of the Council of Ministers was held under the chairmanship of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in which various important decisions were taken.

Key Points

  • The State Council of Ministers approved the proposed Narmada Expressway as Narmada Pragati Path in Madhya Pradesh.
  • Along with this, approval was given to authorize the Department of Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion to prepare an action plan for the purpose of financing development and investment promotion of industrial areas on the Narmada Pragati Path.
  • The cabinet approved the collection of consumer fee for five years through a contracting agency on 17 pre-constructed roads under Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation.
  • In order to encourage startups in the state, MP Startup Policy and Implementation Plan 2022 cum process and guidelines have been approved. Under the policy, provision has been made for financial and non-financial facilities and assistance and facilitation to startups and incubators.
  • The cabinet approved an estimated expenditure of Rs 50 lakh to send equestrian Faraj Khan to Germany for training for the preparation of the 19th Asian Games 2022 (China).
  • The cabinet gave its approval to change the name of 'Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board' to 'Madhya Pradesh Staff Selection Board' and hand over the related work to the General Administration Department.

Jal Jeevan Mission

Why in News

On February 18, 2022, Madhya Pradesh Public Health Engineering Department approved ISA for water supply schemes of rural areas of the state in Jal Jeevan Mission. Approval of Rs 44 crore 65 lakh has been given for the appointment.

Key Points

  • Implementation Support Agency (ISA) is selected as per the guidelines of Jal Jeevan Mission. This agency will provide its services for drinking water and community management, water quality, rain water harvesting / recharge, water resource management, capacity building and awareness generation, public health engineering and water in the water supply scheme area.
  • In order to provide water to the entire rural population of Madhya Pradesh through tap connections, water supply schemes are being run under the National Jal Jeevan Mission.
  • Under Jal Jeevan Mission, ISA for water supply schemes of 10 thousand 261 villages in 13 districts of the state- Bhind, Morena, Sheopur, Sagar, Damoh, Panna, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Gwalior, Datia, Guna, Ashoknagar and Shivpuri respectively. Appointment has been made. This amount can be spent on the services of these districts.
