All India Mayors Conference

Why in News

On December 17, 2021 All India Mayors Conference was organized in the district of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh through virtual medium.

  • It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
  • This was the first meeting of the All India Mayors Conference.

Key Points

  • The Chief Minister said that the All India Mayors Conference is a part of a definite plan to take forward the development of urban areas. By understanding this model of systematic development and sharing their experiences in this conference, about 120 mayors from different regions of the country can contribute in advancing the sustainable model of development.
  • The Prime Minister said that cities are the driving force of the economy. Cities should be made hubs of a vibrant economy. A holistic system should be developed, where all the facilities develop together to form an ecosystem and which invites economic activities as well as encourages them.
  • The Prime Minister said that Uttar Pradesh's 'One District One Product' is an important scheme to develop self-employment. Through this scheme, work is being done to identify the traditional arts, handicrafts, entrepreneurship arts of the district and connect it with enterprise activities.
  • He asked the mayors to develop a unique identity of a specific product or place in their city. He directed the mayors to prepare a list of street vendors in their city and link them with schemes and provide digital transactions and financial literacy.
  • The Prime Minister asked the mayors to develop differently-abled friendly facilities in cities under the 'Accessible India Campaign'.

Madhya Pradesh Police Foundation Day

Why in News

  • On December 17, 2021 Madhya Pradesh Police Foundation Day function was celebrated at Motilal Nehru Stadium in Bhopal. As the chief guest Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inspected the parade and presented medals to the police officers for their excellent service after the march past.

Key Points

  • Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that women's safety, complete elimination of drug mafia and effective action on cyber crime are the major challenges before the Madhya Pradesh Police. Whatever responsibility has been entrusted to the Madhya Pradesh Police, it has been performed with full efficiency, determination, devotion and responsibility.
  • The Chief Minister said that 877 police personnel have been martyred from the year 1956 to 2020, while discharging their duties with indomitable courage and devotion. These policemen established a great tradition of keeping the people of the state safe.
  • The Chief Minister said that from the year 1956 to January 26, 2021 429 gallantry, 229 distinguished service and 1508 meritorious medals have been received by the members of the police.
  • The Chief Minister presented the President's Police Medal for Gallantry to Arvind Saxena (Additional Transport Commissioner), Dharamvir Singh (Superintendent of Police, Satna).
  • The Chief Minister also released the Madhya Pradesh Police Anthem on the occasion.

Architecture Composition Competition

Why in News

  • On December 17, 2021, Madhya Pradesh Science and Technology Minister Omprakash Sakhlecha launched a national level architectural creation competition on the theme "Contribution of Indian Scientists in India's Freedom Movement" in the auditorium of Civil Department, MANIT.

Key Points

  • The main objective of this architectural creation competition being organized at the national level is not only to honor and recognize the incomparable contribution of Indian scientists in India's freedom struggle by presenting it in the form of a memorial and museum, but also to present it to the present generations of Indians. Contribution has to be presented in a very creative manner.
  • This competition will give a unique opportunity to the currently studying school students as well as the studying and working architects and planners, so that they can present these great personalities and their incomparable contributions on a large scale by their creativity and create a rage among the general public about their lives.
  • Under this competition, the concept of memorial and museum will be proposed for a space of 6 acres located in the planetarium complex of Ujjain.
  • It is noteworthy that this competition, which is going to be held under the Amrit Festival of Independence, is being organized by MANIT, Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology, Vigyan Bharti, IPS. Academy Indore and All India Council of Technical Education are jointly organizing.

ICJS Award

Why in News

  • Jharkhand Police and Telangana Police jointly got the third position in the two-day Integrated Criminal Justice System (ICJS) award program organized by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) in New Delhi.

Key Points

  • This award has been received for the better performance of Jharkhand Police in the field of Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS). However, Madhya Pradesh stood first and Maharashtra Police in second place.
  • With the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS), Jharkhand Police, Courts and Jails can get the details of any criminal on a single screen, in a minute with a single click. This system is not for the general public.
  • About 592 police stations of the state are connected to this. Only eight police stations do not have this system. Efforts are also being made to connect through Rail-Tel in eight police stations where the CCTNS project is not working.

Prize for Better Implementation in CCTNS and ICJS

Why in News

  • Chhattisgarh was awarded the second prize for better implementation in CCTNS (Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System) and ICJS (Inter-operable Criminal Justice System) by the Government of India in New Delhi on December 17, 2021.

Key Points

  • In a two-day conference held from December 16-17, the National Award was announced for better implementation in forensics under the ICJS scheme, in which Chhattisgarh was given the second position in the whole country. On the other hand, the first place was given to the state of Orissa and the third place was given to the state of Madhya Pradesh.
  • It is noteworthy that in Chhattisgarh the work of integration of CCTNS, Forensic, Court, Prosecution and Jail on digital platforms through ICJS has been completed.
  • E-Forensic Software Application has been developed by the State Forensic Laboratory, through which all the proceedings from case registration to report preparation are uploaded. This data is sharing another column of ICJS.

Swasthya Ratna Award

Why in News

  • Recently, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel honored Dr. Faizul Hasan Firdausi, a well-known surgeon of Ambikapur in Surguja district and Director of Firdausi Hospital, with the Swasthya Ratna Award at a private function in Raipur.

Key Points

  • Dr. Firdausi has received this award for performing laparoscopic surgery on people in Surguja zone during the Corona period.
  • He did the surgery of people through Ayushman Bharat Yojana and Dr. Khubchand Baghel Health Scheme, due to which the common man was treated free of cost.
  • It is noteworthy that by performing the surgery through a laparoscopic method, the beneficiary immediately recovers and returns to his work, due to which he does not suffer financial loss.
  • Dr. Faizul Hasan Firdausi is the son of Laparoscopic Surgeon Late Dr. NH Firdausi and is the operator of Dr. Firdausi Hospital Kharsia Road.

Keshkal Adventure Festival

Why in News

  • On December 17, 2021, the three-day Keshkal Adventure Festival started at Tatamari tourism area located in Keshkal, Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh. In this adventure festival, travel bloggers and tourists from all corners of the state including Karnataka, West Bengal were welcomed according to the tribal tradition.

Key Points

  • Tourists were shown various viewpoints, waterfalls, caves, unique flora and prehistoric rock paintings located in Manjhingarh. Tourists were overwhelmed by the glimpse of prehistoric rock paintings and primitive tribal culture.
  • In the next two days, this festival will include the old capital of Bastar, Baddongar, Buddhist monasteries of ancient Bhongapal, Shilpgram, Pardhi Tribal Village tour, waterfall darshan and local delicacies in the form of adventure sport with rock climbing, paramotor, rappelling, jeepline, camping and Tracking has been arranged.
  • Apart from this, various cultural programs and competitions will be organized every evening.
  • Through this festival, the district administration is trying to identify it in the tourism map by developing the tourism potential available in the district.
  • Keshkal is famous for its natural resources, picturesque waterfalls and unique tribal culture throughout the state as well as across the country.
  • It is noteworthy that a glass bridge is being prepared by connecting two hills at Tatamari in Keshkal, which will be the first glass bridge to be built in Chhattisgarh.

Livelihood Festival at Hawalbagh

Why in News

  • On December 17, 2021 Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the two-day Livelihood Festival at Hawalbagh, Almora. Also inaugurated the Rural Business Incubator Center located in Hawalbagh.

Key Points

  • On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the objective of Rural Business Incubator Center is to encourage self-employment in rural areas and to provide support to entrepreneurs from beginning to end for setting up of enterprises. Along with this, its objectives are to generate employment, business cooperation, promotion of new ideas and technology etc. to the youth.
  • On the occasion of its inauguration, the Chief Minister said that a Rural Business Incubator Center has been set up at Almora and Pauri in the state. Efforts will be made to connect the common man with this center. This will help prevent migration.
  • On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that all the officers and public representatives should work together for the progress of Uttarakhand. All the departmental officers have been instructed to prepare a roadmap for 10 years so that the foundation for the development of Uttarakhand can be laid.
  • On this occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of schemes worth Rs 49.19 crore and also distributed cheques to 27 self-help groups under various schemes.
  • Workshops on European Vegetable Cultivation by Horticulture Department, Homestay Scheme by Tourism Department, Commercial Poultry Farming by Animal Husbandry Department, Marketing and Packaging by Industries Department, Value Chain by NRLM and Aajeevika and Tree Ayurveda Agriculture by Agriculture Department were organized during Aajeevika Mahotsav.
