Jal Jeevan Mission

Why In News?

  • According to information received from Chhattisgarh Public Relations Department on November 17, 2022, pure drinking water is being supplied under the Jal Jeevan Mission in rural areas of the state. So far, 16 lakh 42 thousand 479 household tap connections have been installed in the state.

Key Points

  • It may be noted that a detailed review of the works of solar-based, retrofitting, multi-village and single-village schemes is being done from time to time by Jal Jeevan Mission Director Topeshwar Verma.
  • He has given instructions to the officials to make arrangements for running water in schools, sub-health centers and Anganwadi centers, ISA training, wall writing, painting etc. to publicize the works of Jal Jeevan Mission in a time-bound manner. Along with this, instructions have also been given to ensure that the updated information of all the work in progress is entered in the IMIS portal.
  • In the budget for the financial year 2022-23, a provision of one thousand crore rupees has been made in the Jal Jeevan Mission. Along with this, the target is to provide tap water to 23 lakh 57 thousand 744 rural households for the financial year 2022-23. So far, 6 lakh 18 thousand 491 rural households have been provided tap water in this financial year.
  • It is worth mentioning that under the Jal Jeevan Mission in the state, fast work is being done to provide pure drinking water at the rate of 55 liters per person per day. So far, pure drinking water is being supplied through tab taps in 43 thousand 844 schools, 41 thousand 661 Anganwadi centers and 17 thousand 278 gram panchayats and community sub-health centers in the state.

State Level Personality Development Competition 2022-23

Why In News?

  • On November 17, 2022, the Chhattisgarh School Education Department organized a state-level competition for personality development of children under 'Padhai Tunhar Duar 3.0' at the Pandit Deendayal Auditorium located in the Science College campus of the capital. Prizes were given to the winners of the five divisions involved in the competition.

Key Points

  • In this competition of personality development, competition of essay, instant speech, painting, science project model, language and mathematics or speed mathematics, speed reading and general knowledge was organized.
  • Earlier, this competition was organized in 5 phases from school to division level. The competition was held at primary, middle, high and higher secondary school levels. Around 200 students represented in the state-level competition.
  • Managing Director of Samagra Shiksha, Narendra Kumar Dugga said on the closing occasion of state level personality development competition that challenges have increased in the field of education, considering these challenges as opportunities, children, parents and teachers will move forward together in the direction of continuous education.
  • He informed that more than 47 thousand government schools in the state have been selected from 43 lakh children who have joined the competition.
  • In the science project model competition, the first prize was awarded to Pratham Kevat of Bilaspur district, second to Mayank Balsaharia of Jagdalpur district, first to Akshat Vaishnav of Durg district and second to Nemichand of Durg district in high and higher secondary level.
  • In the essay competition, Yamini Pandey of Bilaspur district, Bhavika Sonkar of Dhamtari district, Priya Larendra of Durg district, Rakesh Markam of Jagdalpur district, Diksha Manjhi of Jagdalpur district and Shivani Choubey of Durg district were awarded first prizes at the high and higher secondary level.
  • Jyoti Sahu of Bemetara district, Akanksha of Jagdalpur district and Ragini Sapha of Durg district bagged the first, second positions at the pre-secondary level.
  • In the painting competition, Ananya of Jagdalpur district first, Kanchan Vishwakarma of Bilaspur district, Ankita Ojha of Durg district, second at middle school level, Nupur Mali of Bilaspur district, Puja Jain of Kanker district at high and higher secondary level, first at middle school level. Second, Kamleshwar Sahu of Raipur district was awarded.
  • Similarly, in the speed reading competition, Mohammad Numan of Raipur district, second Priya Sahu of Durg district, first Madhuri Patel of Balrampur district and second Sushmita Gond of Bilaspur district were awarded at the middle school level.
  • Gautam Yadav from Surajpur district, second from Durg district, second from Durg district, second from Mahi Gupta from Ambikapur district and second from Bilaspur district, Mahi Gupta at middle school level got the first position in oral math's, speed math's competition.
  • In the general knowledge quiz competition at high and higher secondary level, first prize was awarded to Pawan Kumar of Durg district and second to Devendra Kumar of Bilaspur district.

‘Sugghar Padhvaiya’ Scheme

Why In News?

  • According to the information received from the Chhattisgarh Public Relations Department on November 17, 2022, ‘Sugghar Padhvaiya’ Scheme has been started to develop skills according to their talent in the children studying in all government primary and middle schools of the state.

Key Points

  • Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had announced this scheme on the occasion of Children's Day.
  • Under this scheme, schools will also get awards for developing excellent academic skills in children. Schools that get platinum will get Rs 1 lakh, gold schools will get Rs 50,000 and silver schools will get Rs 25,000.
  • The objective of this scheme is to encourage teachers who do good work and perform well with self-motivation. Seeing them, more teachers will be motivated to work well. More and more teachers will be able to create a better environment by forming teams to do positive work.
  • With the departmental officers taking responsibility for developing more and more schools in their respective areas as better schools, the image of government schools will show unprecedented improvement and government schools of the state will be able to show effective impact.
  • This scheme is for all government primary and middle schools of the state. School teachers can join the scheme anytime by mutually opinionating. To join the scheme, the school will have to apply on the web-portal.
  • All the teachers of the schools together have to develop academic skills in all the students of the school. Eligibility for the certificate will be only when the entire school is eligible for the certificate. There will be no certificate for any one teacher, one student or one class.
  • The schools which will be included in the scheme will be provided on demand training and other resources on request for achieving the target. All the teachers teaching in the schools that will get the certificate will also get the certificate. The authentication will be announced on the web-portal immediately after the third-party assessment. The certificate will be presented ceremoniously on the occasion of Independence Day and Republic Day.
  • All the students of the school will be assessed for all the academic skills accepted for the scheme and only if at least 95 percent of the students have class-appropriate academic skills, the school will get 1 mark for that class and that academic skill.
  • If less than 95 per cent of the students get minimum academic skills according to the class, zero marks will be given for that class and academic skills.
  • Clusters where more than 90 percent of the schools will get a certificate of any level of Sugghar Padhvaiya, Platinum, Gold or Silver will be given a certificate of ‘Sugghar Padhvaiya’ Sankul.
  • Similarly, more than 90 percent of the schools of the development block, which will get the certificate of any level, such as golden platinum, gold or silver, will be given the certificate of Sugghar Padhvaiya Development Block. Platinum will be given on 90 percent or more marks, gold on 85 percent or more, but less than 90 percent marks and silver certificate on 80 percent or more, but less than 85 percent marks.
  • If a school gets silver or gold certificate in this scheme, then that school can also get Sugghar Padhvaiya gold or Sugghar Padhvaiya platinum certificate by making further efforts. Continuous progress can be attempted in this scheme. In the scheme, all the schools can get the Golden Platinum Certificate by making efforts.
