Division Level Chhattisgarhiya Olympics: Balod Becomes Overall Champion

Why In News?

According to the information given by Chhattisgarh Public Relations Department on September 17, 2023, Balod district has become the overall champion in the divisional level Chhattisgarh Olympics.

Key Points:

• Players of Balod district earned the title of overall champion due to their excellent sports performance in various competitions under the divisional level Olympics organized at Government Higher Secondary School, Purai of Durg division.
• Players of different age groups of Balod displayed their best performance and won a maximum 38 gold medals in the divisional level competition.
• In the competition, in the men's category, various sports for the age group of 0-18 years included Pithul, Sankhali, Gedi race, 100-meter race, long jump and wrestling 50 kg. Balod got the first position in the match played under the category.
• Similarly, second place in Kho-Kho and tug of war and in wrestling competition, apart from Gilli Danda, 51-60 kg category, 61-70 kg category. Balod district got third place in the 71-80 kg category and 80 kg category.
• Under the women's category, in the age group of 0 to 18 years, Balod stood first in 40-50 kg, 61-70 kg and 40 kg categories in Pithul, Fugdi, long jump, rope jump and wrestling competition and 51-60 kg. And 70 kg. Got second place in the class. Apart from this, Balod got third place in Kho-Kho and 100-meter race.

Jashpur Got 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 5 Bronze Medals in School State Level Taekwondo.

Why In News?

According to the information given by Chhattisgarh Public Relations Department on September 17, 2023, Jashpur district has received 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 5 Bronze medals in the 23rd School State Level Taekwondo Competition held from 10 to 14 September in Korba.

Key Points:

• Jashpur Collector Dr. Ravi Mittal said that the district's Ayush Yadav, father Akhilesh Yadav, Prateek Bada, Father Nirmal Bada have been selected for the national level Taekwondo competition.
• Yuvraj Kumar and Binesh Lakra of the district got silver medals. Similarly, Karan Ram, Manish Bhagat, Rudra Pratap Singh, Ishapriya Lakra, Neha Nagvanshi received bronze medals.
• The Taekwondo coach said that the players selected for the national team will take part in the national competition organized in Betul, Madhya Pradesh in December, for which the children are being made proficient in the sport.
