13th Film Festival

Why In News?

On December 16, 2022 in a press conference held at Chajju Bagh, senior litterateur Yadavendra, film festival convenor Preeti Prabha and Hiral convenor Santosh Jha said that the 13^th Patna Film Festival will be celebrated in Patna from December 19 to December 21.

Key Points

• The festival, to be held at Kalidas Rangalaya will showcase a dozen films which the audience will be able to watch free of cost.
• A total of eight filmmakers from Mumbai, Kerala, Kolkata, Delhi, Aligarh and Ranchi are coming up with their films at the festival. There will also be a section of local young filmmakers.
• The 13th Film Festival will be inaugurated by senior Hindi poet and professor at IIT, Hyderabad, Harjinder Singh Laltu. The first day will showcase films based on two literary works, namely Samvadiya (Phanishwar Nath Renu) and Laut Rahi Hai Bela Ekka (Arun Prakash). The screening of the film will be followed by an audience interaction session with the directors present.
• The last film to be screened at the festival will be "Matto Ki Cycle". Well-known film director Prakash Jha has played the lead role in it. The film premiered at the Busan International Film Festival. Its director. Ghani will also attend the film festival.

Now 611 Types of Medicines will be Available Free of Cost in Government Hospitals of Bihar

Why In News?

On December 16, 2022 the Bihar government has issued a new guideline regarding the distribution of medicines in government hospitals. According to the new rule, now patients undergoing treatment in government hospitals will get 611 types of medicines free of cost.

• After the emergence of new diseases, the government has issued a new guideline for the distribution of medicines in government hospitals. Under this, patients will no longer have to buy medicines from private shops.
• In the new resolution issued by the government, it has been decided to distribute a total of 611 types of medicines in OPD and IPD in hospitals from medical college to district hospital and health sub-center.

1187 CNG Stations will be Established for CNG Gas Distribution

Why In News?

On December 15, 2022, Rajasthan's Additional Chief Secretary, Mines and Petroleum, Dr. Subodh Agarwal told in a review meeting of the representatives of all the 14 institutions working in the state that 1187 stations will be set up for CNG gas distribution, while 37824 inch km. Pipeline will be laid.

• ACS Dr. Subodh Aggarwal told in the meeting that under the City Gas Distribution System, 96 lakh domestic gas connections will be made available through pipelines in 8 years.
• He instructed 14 gas companies working in 33 districts of the state to make gas distribution system through pipeline and CNG distribution system effective within the stipulated time.
• He informed that 10,000 connections will be issued by March 2023 in Kalwar Road, Jhotwara, Vidyadhar Nagar and Mahendra SEZ of Jaipur.
• ACS Dr. Subodh Aggarwal said that at present one lakh 877 domestic gas connections have been issued through pipeline in the state. At the same time, with the establishment of 221 CNG stations, 7767 inch km. The work of laying the pipeline has been completed.
• Dr. Subodh Aggarwal told that work has started in Jodhpur, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bharatpur, Sirohi, Jalore, Banswara, Dungarpur, Alwar, Jaipur, Dhaulpur, Kota, Rawatbhata, Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Pratapgarh, Bhilwara, Bundi, Ajmer, Pali, Jaisamand are done.
• MD RSGL Ranveer Singh informed that AZAP in Barmer, Jaisalmer and Jodhpur, Alwar (except Bhiwadi), Jaipur (except Kota city) Baran and Chittorgarh (only Rawatbhata) torrent, Bhilwara, Bundi, Chittorgarh except Rawatbhata, Adani Gas in Udaipur and Pratapgarh, Essel in Dhaulpur, Ajmer, Pali, Indraprastha Gas in Rajsamand, Gujarat Gas in Jalore, Sirohi, Banswara, Dungarpur, Rajasthan Gas in Kota, Gail Gas in Bharatpur, Haryana Gas in Bhiwadi, Bikaner, Churu , Dinesh Engineering in Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Indian Oil in Nagaur, Hindustan Petroleum in Dausa, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur and Tonk, Bharat Petroleum in Ganganagar and Hanumangarh, infrastructure by Megha Engineering in Jhalawar, and gas distribution through pipeline and CNG. Mukta Mahila Milk Producer Company launched Mukta Brand Ghee

On December 16, 2022, Mukta, a milk producer of more than 18 thousand 500 women dairy farmers of Bundelkhand formed under the Madhya Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission, formally launched its brand 'Mukta Ghee'.

• This is a big achievement of the women milk producer company of the state. Four milk producing companies of the state produce 2 lakh liters of milk per day, out of which Mukta Company alone is producing one lakh liters of milk per day. The company's annual turnover is over Rs 65 crore.
• On this occasion, Chief Executive Officer of Madhya Pradesh State Livelihood Mission, L.M Belwal said that it is an inspirational start-up, which is a symbol of women empowerment.
• Under the Madhya Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission, 4 lakh 12 thousand self-help groups have been formed in the state, through which the livelihood of 46 lakh rural women is being promoted.
• 88 farmer producer companies have also been formed in the state, whose one lakh 79 thousand members are mainly engaged in agriculture-based activities. The turnover of these companies till the month of November in the year 2022-23 has been Rs 529 crore. Last year, Mukta Mahila Milk Producer Company alone did a turnover of more than Rs 65 crore, in which 85 percent of the sale proceeds were paid to the members in the form of milk.
• The company has set up an advanced self-driving milk collection system for the procurement of milk in every village, in which the members selling milk can check the quantity, quality and price of milk themselves. They also get a printed acknowledgement slip and get full details of the milk sold on their mobiles.
• The company's mobile app gives information about milk transactions. The company is doing work like artificial insemination, mineral mixture, fertility camp, awareness to increase the productivity and quality of milk in animals.
• It is worth mentioning that Mukta Company has also received dairy extension award in India Dairy Award-2021 . The company has achieved this success in a short period of 4 years. In the next two years, the state has set a target of producing 5 lakh liters of milk per day from milk producing companies.

Adani Godda Power Plant to Start Supplying 800 MW Electricity to Bangladesh

Why In News?

On December 16, 2022 the Adani Power Plant, one of the country's best thermal power plants ever built at Godda in Jharkhand, started generating 800 MW of power in the first phase. In the first phase, 800 MW of electricity was generated and electricity was supplied to Bangladesh. Jharkhand government will get 25 percent electricity from this power plant.

Key Points

• The power was transmitted to Bangladesh on the scheduled date of December 16, after the trial of 800 MW power generation in the first phase of the two-unit Adani power plant was done in December. The second unit is said to be commissioned by April. At that time, a total production of 1600 MW will start from the company's side.
• 105 km from Godda to Murshidabad to provide electricity to Bangladesh. Adani has also got the transmission line constructed. Apart from this, water pipeline has been laid from Sahibganj to Godda to meet the requirement of water.
• Significantly, this power plant has been built under the agreement between the Government of India and Bangladesh. It is an ultra-super thermal power plant. The total cost of construction of this power plant is Rs 15000 crore.
• The work of Adani Power Plant started in the year 2016 with the acquisition of land. About 650 acres of land of Motia and many surrounding villages and Mauza were acquired. After this, in 2018, the company started construction work.
• New technology has been used in this plant. The latest chimney across the country, which has a height of 275 meters, has been built here. At the same time, a device has been installed to use eco-friendly FDG and SCR chemical reaction to protect the environment along with power generation.
• The work of preventing gaseous pollution has been done through a technique called SCR. Also, ESP i.e. Electro Static Precipitator System has been used. This reduces the pollution potential by scavenging the emissions of micro-to-micro carbon. The company has to spend an additional amount of about Rs 2200 crores in the installation of this equipment and machine.
• High thermal and quality bituminous coal is being used in the Adani plant. This coal is said to be of high quality.

Rs 1.50 Lakh Compensation on Death during Agricultural Work

Why In News?

On December 16, 2022 in the 35^th meeting of the Uttarakhand Agricultural Produce Marketing Board chaired by Uttarakhand Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi in the assembly office, several decisions were taken in the interest of farmers. The compensation amount received in case of death of a farmer in an accident during agricultural work has been increased from one lakh to one and a half lakh rupees.

Key Points

• Apart from this, it was decided to increase the compensation from 60 thousand to one lakh rupees in case of disability with both hands or both legs or one hand and one leg due to accident and from 30 thousand to 50 thousand rupees in case of disability from one limb.
• The condition of 18 to 60 years of age has been abolished in the eligibility of personal accident, so that now compensation will be given to all farmers in case of accident.
• Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi said that the scholarship scheme has been started for meritorious children of farmers through the board. The income limit for eligibility in this scheme was kept at two lakh rupees. It has been increased to Rs 3 lakh per annum.

• Chief Minister Dhami said that the construction work of martyr's gate and memorials in the state will now be done through the Sainik Welfare Department. Earlier it used to happen through the Culture Department.
• He said that in the 1971 war, 255 soldiers of Uttarakhand had sacrificed their lives to protect Mother India. As many as 74 soldiers of the state were awarded various gallantry medals for displaying indomitable courage and valour in the war.
• The Chief Minister said that the state government is making special plans for military families so that a soldier does not have to worry about the family while fighting a war. It has been decided to increase the grant amount to soldiers or their dependents and to appoint the dependents of martyrs on a priority basis in state government jobs.
• According to the officials of the Sainik Welfare Department, 1727 soldiers and army officers have received the Veerta Chakra in Uttarakhand. These include one Paramveer Chakra, six Ashoka Chakras, 13 Mahavir Chakras, 32 Kirti Chakras, four Uttam Yudh Seva Medals, 102 Vir Chakras, 188 Shaurya Chakras, 36 Yudh Seva Medals, 847 Sena Medals (gallantry), 198 Mention in Dispatches, 70 Sena Medal, 45 Param Vishisht Seva Medal, 56 Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, 129 Vishisht Seva Medal winners. At the same time, the number of Veer Naris in the state is currently around 1100.
• Significantly, Vijay Diwas is a symbol of indomitable courage and bravery of the brave soldiers of the Indian Army. On this day in the year 1971, more than 93,000 soldiers of Pakistan surrendered to the Indian Army. This was the largest surrender of any army after World War II.
