Why In News?

On December 15, 2022, the Bihar Municipality Bill, 2022 was passed amid uproar in the Patna Assembly. Under this, before demolishing public land, the local bodies will have to inform the encroachers first.

Key Points

• It was passed amid uproar by members charged over the Saran poisoning tragedy. According to the body, the marked documents can be removed only after 24 hours of issuing the body notice officer and associated documents after a notice period of 15 days.
• Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav said that the state government is coming out with a rehabilitation policy to provide alternative accommodation to the slum dwellers. As per preliminary survey, the government is preparing to rehabilitate 48,000 affected slum dwellers whose houses were demolished during the recent operations in Patna.
• Along with this, the Assembly has also passed the Bihar Technical Service Commission Bill, 2022.

License Issued for Construction of State's First Automatic 'Rope-Way'

Why In News?

On December 14, 2022, the Jaipur district administration issued a license under the Ropeway Act to the firm for the construction of the state's first automatic 'ropeway' in the Hanuman Ji temple complex.

Key Points

• With the issuance of the license, the construction work of the state's first automatic ropeway with a height of 85 meters will be expedited and soon passengers will be able to get the gift of passenger ropeway from Annapurna Mata Temple to Vaishno Mata Temple located on the hill of Hanuman Temple.
• It is noteworthy that on the initiative of Jaipur Collector, the construction work of the state's first automatic and Jaipur's largest passenger ropeway has started in the Hanuman Ji Temple complex of Khole in the city.
• The name of the ropeway will be Annapurna Mata Ropeway, which will be the fifth in the state and second after Samod's Hanumanji ropeway of Jaipur district.
• A 436-meter-long ropeway is being built from Annapurna Mata Temple to Vaishno Mata Temple located on the hill of Hanuman Temple in Khole, which will be the largest ropeway in Jaipur.
• An agreement has been signed between the firm and the Jaipur district administration for the construction of the ropeway, after which the firm will be issued a license under the Ropeway Act.
• The height of the ropeway to be operated on the five towers will be 85 meters. The 24-trolley ropeway will have a capacity of 800 passengers per hour. The Collector has directed the manufacturer firm to construct the ropeway within two years.
• The collector said that the safety parameters of the ropeway will be regularly checked by the district administration during construction and even after the commencement of operation. In the construction of the ropeway, the heritage, craftsmanship and splendor of Jaipur will be seen.
• The collector said that the ropeway construction firm has been directed to provide free travel through ropeways to children in the age group of 0 to 5 years and elderly people above 70 years of age as well as the disabled. The one-way journey of the ropeway will be completed in about 4.5 minutes, during which the trolley will be stopped twice in the middle of the journey to show passengers a panoramic view of Jaipur.

5G Network Started from Mahakaleshwar in Madhya Pradesh

Why In News?

On December 14, 2022 Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the first 5G network in the state from Mahakaleshwar and Mahakal Lok Complex in Ujjain .

• This 5G service has been started by Reliance Jio in Mahakaleshwar and the newly built Mahakal Lok Complex.
• Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that due to network and digital access, the state will now develop rapidly and the introduction of 5G services will also accelerate the development of the state.
• The 5G service launched by Reliance Jio in Mahakaleshwar and the newly built Mahakal Lok Complex is completely free and will be available free of cost to the general public and all tourists visiting there.

Hisar's Airport is Not yet International

Why In News?

On December 15, 2022 union minister of state for civil aviation V K Singh replied to a question by BJP MP Brijendra Singh from Hisar in Parliament that there is no proposal to start international flights from Hisar at present. Maharaja Agrasen Airport will not become international yet.

• The Union Minister informed that the Chandigarh route was started on January 14, 2021 . After this, the route from Hisar to Dehradun was started on February 2, 2021. A three-seater airline was also launched.
• The minister said that the construction of international airports depends on air traffic, airline demand, air special agreement, ground landing facility, runway length, immigration, health and animal service. Such a possibility is not at the moment at the airport.
• At the same time, the Urban Local Bodies Minister of the Haryana Government said that an international airport will be built here. They are being built with this thinking. Gradually, all the standards that are required for an international level airport are being met. The reply given in Parliament has been given on the basis of current data.
• 7200 acres of land has been transferred to Civil Aviation for Hisar Airport. The estimated expenditure has increased to Rs 245.15 crore. The deadline for the second phase has been extended to March 31, 2023, from October 2022 earlier. Construction of runway length to 10,000 feet, night landing facility, construction of hangar, boundary wall is going on.

First University in the Country to Open Common Service Center

Why In News?

On December 14, 2022 Ranchi University became the first university in the country to open a Common Service Centre (CSAC) for the convenience of students. Vice-Chancellor The MoU was signed with central agency CSC SPV under the leadership of Ajit Kumar Sinha.

Key Points

• Under this MoU, many skill certificate, diploma and advanced diploma courses can be done free of cost from Rs 300 to Rs 3300 in collaboration with IIT Bombay, IBM and IDEED Rajasthan.
• After the MoU, three Common Service Centres (CSCs) were also inaugurated in the university. These common service centres have been opened at the university headquarters, data centre campus and basic science campus in Morabadi.
• Vice-Chancellor Ajit Kumar Sinha said that within a month, centers will also be opened in 91 affiliated, affiliated, minority, nursing and B.Ed colleges and institutions affiliated to Ranchi University.
• With the opening of the center, students will not have to run cyber cafes for enrollment and examination forms etc. From this center, they will be able to fill the form on campus at minimum cost.
• The Vice Chancellor said that students will soon get online admit cards, provisional certificates, marks sheets, migration etc. sitting at home. They will also be able to see their results. Soon the facility of DigiLocker will also be available.

Jharkhand Tourism Photography Videography Competition

Why In News?

Jharkhand Tourism Photography, Videography Competition was started by Jharkhand Tourism Department on December 15, 2022. This competition will run till January 15, 2023.

Key Points

• The competition covers religious tourist places, festivals, traditional fairs, ancient sites and monuments, dance, scenic beauty and landscapes under photography for social media platforms.
• These topics have also been included for social media platform YouTube in the videography category. For reel and short videos, participants will be able to showcase their skills on these topics.
• The first prize winner will get Rs 1 lakh, the second prize winner will get Rs 75,000 and the third prize winner will get Rs 50,000. Each category also includes a consolidated prize of Rs 20,000. Winners will be selected on the basis of views and likes on their social media posts.
• The criteria for photo and video is HD photograph and JPG format, which should be from a minimum of 10 MB to a maximum of 50 MB. Videos should be at least one minute to a maximum of two minutes and 30 seconds. The duration of the reel or short video will be 30 seconds. Participants can upload one or a maximum of four photographs.

Chief Minister Inaugurated the Railway Over Bridge

On December 15, 2022 Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated the railway overbridge of Mahasamund-Tumgaon road in Mahasamund district during a statewide meeting program.

• With the construction of the much-awaited Tumgaon overbridge, the city residents will get rid of the constant traffic jams and problems in commuting.
• The people of the district, especially those coming and going daily from Tumgaon and Mahasamund, will get a simple, easy route. At present, due to the closure of the railway gate, there was a situation of jam. With the construction of the railway overbridge, they will get rid of it and will also save time.
• It is worth mentioning that with the construction of Tumgaon railway overbridge, the population of more than 35 thousand people of Mahasamund will be benefited.
• The total length of the overbridge is 616 meters and width is 15 meters. The length of the railway crossing is 294 meters towards Mahasamund, 248 meters towards Tumgaon and the length of the railway crossing is 74 meters.
• Apart from this, during the meeting in Mahasamund district, the Chief Minister also made many other announcements including opening of Swami Atmanand English Medium School in Pateva and Tumgaon, establishment of tehsil in Tumgaon.
