  • On September 14, 2023, 16 litterateurs were honored in the 'Apni Hindi Apna Bharat' felicitation ceremony, Kavi Sammelan, organized on Hindi Diwas by 'Uttar Pradesh Sahitya Sabha and Indo American Chamber of Commerce' in Lucknow.

  • Uttar Pradesh Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh felicitated 16 senior litterateurs, writers, lyricists and journalists at the felicitation ceremony.
  • Padma Shri Vidya Bindu Singh, Dr. Ram Bahadur Mishra, Vinod Mishra, Mahendra Bhishma, Vinod Shankar Shukla, Dr. Om Prakash Singh, Keshav Prasad Vajpayee, Dr. Sonrupa Vishal, Vinita Mishra, Gajendra Priyanshu, Alankar Rastogi, Neeraj Arora, Dayanand Pandey, Rajkumar Singh, Jagdamba Prasad and Dr. Archana Satish were among those who received the award.

  • On September 14, 2023, a state level Hindi Day celebration was organized by the Language and Library Department of Rajasthan at Birla Auditorium, Jaipur.

Key Points:

  • On this occasion, the education minister, along with three writers, honored 440 students who scored 100 percent marks in Hindi subjects in the secondary and higher secondary examinations of the Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan.
  • Hindi Seva Award, started to promote excellent and original writing in Hindi, was given to Dr. Fateh Singh Bhati in the Hindi literature genre for his work 'Uma De', and in the science genre to Rajshree Vinod Bothale for his work 'No Upgrah Sanchalan Pranali: A Introduction' and Dr. Satyaveer Singh and Ram Vilas were honored for their book 'Increasing the income of farmers through modern technology' in the field of agriculture.
  • In the Hindi Seva Award, a check of Rs 50,000, certificate, apparel and sapling were presented in each category.
  • On this occasion, the Hindi special issue of the departmental magazine 'Bhasha Vimarsh' published by the department was released by the education minister.

Prime Minister Laid the Foundation Stone of Projects worth Rs 51 thousand Crore in Bina

Why In News?

  • On September 14, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, laid the foundation stone of a petrochemical complex worth about Rs 51 thousand crore at the Bina Refinery complex of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) located in Sagar district and other new industrial plants. Laid the foundation stone of the projects.

Key Points:

  • These include the Petro-Chemical Complex at Bina Refinery complex at a cost of Rs 49 thousand crore and 10 new industrial projects costing Rs 1800 crore at various places in the state.
  • This state-of-the-art refinery, to be developed at a cost of about Rs 49,000 crore, will produce about 1200 KTPA (Kilo-Tonnes Per Annum) of ethylene and propylene, which are vital components for various sectors like textiles, packaging and pharma.
  • This will reduce the country's import dependence and will be a step towards fulfilling the Prime Minister's vision of 'Self-reliant India'. This mega project will generate employment opportunities and will also promote the development of downstream industries in the petroleum sector.
  • During the event, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of ten projects, including 'Power and Renewable Energy Manufacturing Zone' in Narmada Puram district, two IT parks in Indore, a mega industrial park in Ratlam and six new industrial areas across Madhya Pradesh.
  • ‘Power and Renewable Energy Manufacturing Zone, Narmada Puram’ will be developed at a cost of more than Rs 460 crore and will be a step towards economic development and employment generation in the region.
  • 'IT Park 3 and 4' to be built in Indore at a cost of about Rs 550 crore will give a boost to the IT and ITES sector and will also create new employment opportunities for the youth.
  • The Mega Industrial Park at Ratlam will be built at a cost of over Rs 460 crore and is envisaged to become a major hub for important sectors such as textiles, automobiles and pharmaceuticals. This park will be connected to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. This will greatly boost the economic development of the entire region, which will create direct and indirect employment opportunities for the youth.
  • With a view to promote balanced regional development and equitable employment opportunities in the state, six new industrial areas will also be developed at Shajapur, Guna, Mauganj, Agar Malwa, Narmada Puram and Maksi at a cumulative cost of approximately Rs 310 crore.

Madhya Pradesh Ranks Third in Milk Production in the Country

Why In News?

  • According to the information received from the media on September 14, 2023, Madhya Pradesh ranks third in the country in milk production with a total of 17 thousand 999 metric tons.

Key Points:

  • Per capita milk availability in Madhya Pradesh is 591 grams (about 1.3 lb) per day. This availability is 147 grams (about 5.19 oz) more than the national average per capita per day of 444 grams (about 15.66 oz).
  • The steady increase in milk production in Madhya Pradesh has been a result of the effective implementation of animal health, safety and various employment-oriented schemes by the Animal Husbandry Department.
  • In the first phase of the National Animal Disease Control Programme, 25 lakh 63 thousand animals and 208 lakh cattle of cow-buffalo origin were vaccinated in the second phase, which is the highest in the country.
  • The state is also first in the country in 13 lakh 89 thousand Brucella vaccination in cattle and calves.
  • Madhya Pradesh is also the state that approves Kisan Credit Cards to the maximum number of 3 lakh 77 thousand cattle rearers in the country.
  • So far, 36 lakh 47 thousand 482 animals have been vaccinated against Lampi in the state.
  • At present, there are about 80 active cases of Lampi in Bhopal, Rewa and Sehore districts in the state.

Wrestler Bijendra Registered his Name in the International Book of World Records by Pulling an Alto Car with His Eyes

Why In News?

  • According to the information received from the media on September 14, 2023, Steelman wrestler Bijendra Singh, President of All India Youth Public Welfare Organization of Bhiwani district of Haryana, performed the 66th show of strength at Shivam Senior Secondary School located in village Lohani, in which he pulled an Alto car with his eyes. Creating a new world record, he got his name registered in the International Book of World Records.

Key Points:

  • It is known that wrestler Bijendra Singh has already registered many world records in his name.
  • Wrestler Bijendra said that he pulled the Alto car 50 meters by sticking a hook made of thin iron rod in the bone below the eyes.
  • Even before this, he had picked up a 55 kg young man with his teeth and ran for 100 meters (about 328.08 ft) and had made a cruiser move over his body.
  • It is known that steelman wrestler Bijendra Singh has set a target of 100 power-performances.

Former DGP Neeraj Sinha becomes JSSC President

Why In News?

  • On September 14, 2023, former Jharkhand Police DGP Neeraj Sinha has been made the Chairman of Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission. The Personnel Department has issued a notification in this regard.

Key Points:

  • According to this notification, his appointment to the post of President will be considered effective from September 23. Whereas Neeraj Sinha's date of birth is January 8, 1962, hence he will remain in this post till the maximum age of 65 years from the date of joining Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission.
  • The tenure of current president Sudhir Tripathi is ending on September 22.
  • Retired Jharkhand DGP Neeraj Sinha is a 1987 batch Bihar cadre IPS officer.
  • After the formation of the state, he was allotted the Jharkhand cadre. On February 12, 2023, he retired from the post of Jharkhand DGP. He was the DGP of Jharkhand for two years.
  • Neeraj Sinha has also held the post of Hazaribagh SP Ranchi, SSP in many districts including SP, IG ADG in ACB and later Wireless and ACB DG.

Prime Minister Dedicates Railway Projects worth about Rs 6,350 Crore to the Nation in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh

Why In News?

  • On September 14, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the nation's railway projects worth about Rs 6,350 crore in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh.

Key Points

  • These railway projects include Chhattisgarh Eastern Railway Project Phase-1, the third railway line between Champa to Jamga, the third railway line between Pendra Road and Anuppur and the MGR (Meri-Go) connecting Talaipalli coal mine to NTPC Lara Super Thermal Power Station Round) system.
  • These rail projects will accelerate socio-economic development in the region by facilitating the movement of passengers as well as freight.
  • Phase-1 of the Chhattisgarh Eastern Rail Project is being developed under the ambitious PM Gatishakti-National Master Plan for Multi-Modal Connectivity and includes a 124.8 km rail line from Kharsia to Dharamjaigarh. It consists of a spur line to Ger-Pelma and three feeder lines connecting Chhal, Baraud, Durgapur and other coal mines.
  • Built at a cost of approximately Rs 3,055 crore, the railway line is equipped with electrified broad gauge level crossings and free part double line with passenger amenities. It will provide rail connectivity to transport coal from Mand-Raigarh coal fields located in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh.
  • The third rail line between Pendra Road to Anuppur is 50 km long and has been built at a cost of approximately Rs 516 crore. The 98 km long third line between Champa and Jamga railway section has been built at a cost of approximately Rs 796 crore. The new rail lines will improve connectivity in the area and increase tourism and employment opportunities.
  • The 65 km long electrified MGR (Merry-Go-Round) system will provide low-cost transportation of high-grade coal from NTPC's Talaipalli coal mine to the 1600 MW NTPC Lara Super Thermal Power Station in Chhattisgarh. This will promote low cost and reliable power generation from NTPC Lara, thereby strengthening the energy security of the country.
  • Along with this, during the program, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of 'Critical Care Block' with 50 beds in 9 districts of Chhattisgarh.
  • Under the Prime Minister-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), nine critical care blocks will be built in Durg, Kondagaon, Rajnandgaon, Gariaband, Jashpur, Surajpur, Surguja, Bastar and Raigarh districts, the total cost of which will be Rs 210 crore.
  • In order to address the health problems arising from sickle cell disease, which is particularly prevalent among the tribal population, the Prime Minister distributed one lakh sickle cell counseling cards to the screened population.
  • It is noteworthy that Sickle Cell Counseling Cards are being distributed under the National Sickle Cell Anemia Elimination Mission (NSAEM), which was launched by the Prime Minister in July 2023 in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh.

MoU Signed between Raipur District Administration and Igebra-AI for formation of Data-AI Club

  • On September 14, 2023, in the presence of Raipur District Collector Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, an MOU was signed between the district administration and igebra-AI, under which Data-AI will be implemented in three Swami Atmanand Excellent English Medium School (SEGES) of the district Club will be formed.

Key Points

  • It is noteworthy that on Independence Day, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has announced to include information about modern technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Internet of Things in the curriculum of school children from the next academic session. The district administration has taken this step with immediate implementation in this direction. Raipur is the first district to take this important step.
  • This MoU was signed by District Panchayat CEO Abinash Mishra and company director Chiranjeevi Madala on behalf of the district administration.
  • Under this MOU, AI Club will be formed at Swami Atmanand RD Tiwari Amapara, Swami Atmanand BP Pujari Rajatalab and Swami Atmanand Martyr Memorial Fafadih.
  • This will develop understanding of AI among the students of these schools. Students will be familiar with this latest technology of science and will be able to use it in projects and other works. This will create more interest in science among the children of Chhattisgarh, and they will also work shoulder to shoulder with other youth not only in the country but also in the world.
  • In this club, students will be taught in the AI club by the trainers of the concerned institution and there will be workshops. Project models will also be displayed.
  • It is noteworthy that Igebra-AI is an American company, which is working in the field of AI. Its objective is to educate the youth about AI.
