Union Home and Cooperation Minister lays Foundation Stone and Inaugurates various Projects of Haryana Cooperative Department in Karnal

Why In News?

On February 14, 2023, Union Home and Cooperative Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone and inaugurated various projects of Haryana Cooperative Department in Karnal.

  • The country's first cooperation minister Amit Shah also inaugurated a cooperative milk plant here with a capacity to process 5 lakh litres of milk per day at a cost of around Rs 200 crore. This will benefit a lot of cattle farmers.
  • Amit Shah said that an ethanol plant with a capacity of 90,000 liters per day has also been set up here at a cost of Rs 150 crore. Ethanol blending also reduces the country's import of petroleum products and the environment is also safe due to this organic fuel.
  • The Union Home and Cooperation Minister said that at the time of formation of the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, ethanol blending was less than 1 percent, which has increased to more than 10 percent today and further increased to 20 percent by 2025. Will go This will increase the income of sugar mills and APMC's waste and bad paddy will be used, which will also reduce the import bill of the country.
  • Amit Shah said that it is very important to create awareness to make cooperatives relevant again and the backbone of rural economic activities and for this Internet Radio 'Sahakarita Vani' has been started here today. Through this, all the facilities and information will be available on tips for all packs and farmers.
  • Amit Shah said that the NCDC, which is running under the aegis of the Government of India, has today released an amount of Rs 10,000 crore to Haryana for different works of cooperatives, which will be given to farmers' cooperatives at low interest.
  • The Cooperative Minister said that a campaign has been started to make the District Cooperative Bank NPA free. In this year's budget, the Prime Minister has set a target of a big scheme for the country's cooperative, in which PACS will be established in every panchayat of the country before 2025 and 2 lakhs new PACS will be made.
  • He said that 65 thousand packs have been made since independence, and a target has been set to make 2 lakh packs in the next 3 years. He said that the government has also brought a new cooperative policy, and, apart from this, the government of India has also established 3 cooperative societies.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Presented 'President's Colour' to Haryana Police in Karnal

On February 14, 2023, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah presented 'President's Colour' to Haryana Police in Karnal, Haryana.

Key points

  • In his address, the Union Home and Cooperation Minister said that the President's Color is awarded only after scrutinizing the continuous service, courage, bravery and dedication for 25 years. The Home Minister said that the Haryana Police getting the 'President's Colour' is a proof of professionalism and high standards.
  • The 'President's Colour' is a sign of increasing credibility for both the organization and the institution. This Haryana Police is the 10th police of the country to have received this honour. After Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Jammu Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Assam, now the name of Haryana Police has also been added to the police fleet to achieve this highest honor.
  • The Indian Navy was the first to receive this honor in 1951 and since then 10 State Police Forces and several Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) have also received the President's Colour.
  • The Union Home and Cooperation Minister said that the strength of Haryana Police, which started with only 12000 policemen on November 1, 1966, has reached 75000 today. In addition, the work has been extended to 5 Police Ranges, 4 Police Commissionerate's and Railway Police in 19 districts.
  • Amit Shah said that the Prime Minister has set up a 'Police Technology Mission' under the Ministry of Home Affairs to meet the challenges of the future, which will equip the entire country's police force with technology. This mission will teach the use of technology in reducing the crime rate by giving technology education to the entire police system from the constable to the DGP.
  • The Union Home and Cooperation Minister said that forensic science experts are being prepared at the National Forensic Science University. Along with this, changes are being made in CrPC] IPC and Evidence Act.
  • He said that the government is now going to make the visit of forensic science mandatory for crimes with punishment of 6 years or more. This will go a long way in increasing the conviction rate in the country. This will drastically reduce the number of crimes.
  • The Union Home and Cooperation Minister said that 29 cyber police stations and 309 cyber desks in Haryana are tackling cyber fraud cases. Haryana ranks first in the best implementation of the Inter-Operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) and Crime and Criminal Tracking Network (CCTN) project in the country.
  • He said that Haryana is second in the country in reducing the average response time of calls to emergency number 112 from 11 minutes 36 seconds to 8 minutes 2 seconds.
  • Haryana Police has dedicated more than 600 emergency response vehicles to the entire state. Along with this, by making all the license related services online, setting up Narcotics Control Bureau and holding NCORD meetings in every district, Haryana has worked to crack down on drugs.
