State Level Child Rights Week Started

Why in News

On the occasion of Children's Day on November 14, 2021, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot launched the Child Rights Week organized by the Department of Child Empowerment. Along with this, he presented the Nehru Child Protection Award and honored the meritorious boys and girls of child care institutions.

Key Points

  • The Chief Minister also inaugurated Devnarayan Residential School at Gudla in Karauli and Piplod in Jaipur. Also, launched the website of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights and released the poster of Child Rights Week.
  • In the program, three individuals and three organizations who did excellent work in the field of child rights protection were honored with the Nehru Child Protection Award. In the individual category, first prize was given to Aruna Bhargava of Bikaner, second prize to Bharat Nagda of Dungarpur and third prize to Manoj Kumar Soni of Nagaur.
  • In the institute category, first prize was given to Navjeevan Sansthan of Jodhpur, second prize to SOS Children's Village of Jaipur and third prize to Shiv Shakti Education Committee of Tonk.
  • Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the State Government has established the Directorate of Peace and Non-Violence to spread moral values and Gandhian philosophy of life among the children and youth of the State.
  • Similarly, Mahatma Gandhi Darshan Museum and Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Governance and Social Sciences have been established in Jaipur on the lines of prestigious institutions like Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai and Maharashtra Institute of Technology School of Governance in Pune.
  • He said that in the name of the first Prime Minister of the country, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, awards have been started for those who have done remarkable work in the field of protection of child rights.

Children's Session Organized in Rajasthan Legislative Assembly

On the occasion of Children's Day on November 14, 2021, a historic children's session was organized in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, where the children conducted the session as Speaker, Chief Minister and Minister and answered the questions of the children who became members. Zero Hour and Question Hour were organized in this unique session of the Vidhan Sabha.

  • Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Dr. CP Joshi, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, ministers and MLAs were present in this children's session. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp.
  • The Speaker of the Assembly said that under the aegis of the Rajasthan branch of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, a children's session was conducted in the assembly on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day Amrit Mahotsav. Such a session has happened for the first time in the country.
  • He said that this children's session will strengthen parliamentary democracy and we will all be able to understand the curiosity of children about democracy. The future generation has been given a chance to run the house, ask questions and express their views with discipline. He informed that five thousand five hundred children from fifteen states had applied online for the children's session, out of which two hundred children were selected.
  • On this occasion, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that this is a wonderful innovation, which should be done in other states also, the organization of Children's Session in Rajasthan Legislative Assembly will be unforgettable. The systematic manner and discipline with which the future generation of the country has conducted the session will also send a message to the youth of the country that what role they can play in democracy.

Sports and Adventure Awards, 2021

On November 13, 2021, President Ram Nath Kovind distributed Sports and Adventure Awards-2021 at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, in which Madhya Pradesh hockey player Vivek Sagar Prasad was honored with Arjuna Award-2021.

  • This award has been given to Vivek Sagar Prasad in recognition of his outstanding achievements in the field of hockey.
  • Born in February, 2000 in Itarsi, Vivek Sagar Prasad is one of the most outstanding players in the field of hockey. He won the bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics, 2020.
  • Established in the year 1961, the Arjuna Award is given to those sportspersons who have consistently excelled at the international level in the last four years, along with the qualities of leadership, sportsmanship and spirit of discipline. The awardee is given a statuette, certificate, ceremonial dress and Rs 15.00 lakh in cash.

The Madhya Pradesh Pavilion was inaugurated by Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises Minister Om Prakash Sakhlecha at the India International Trade Fair-2021 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on November 14, 2021.

  • Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises, MP Tourism, Horticulture and Food Processing Department, Small Industries Corporation, Mrignayani Emporium, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Information Technology Department participated in this pavilion and displayed their products.
  • Prominent products include Kodo-Kutki and Panja dari from Sidhi district, brass products from Tikamgarh, cloth jackets from Shivpuri, handicraft products from Bhopal, Ratlami sev and products by Mrignayani emporium. Also Inventohack, an agriculture based startup also participated in the exhibition.
  • It is to be known that this fair is organized every year from 14 to 27 November at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. This fair is participated by various states, union territories, ministries of the Government of India, among other countries.
  • The 40th Indian International Trade Fair-2021, organized on the 'Azadi Ke Amrit Mahotsav' in 75 years of the country's independence, focuses on the theme of self-reliant India. This event will boost investment and self-reliance in the country.

Film 'Ulgulan - Ek Kranti' Released Digitally

Why in News

On November 13, 2021, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan digitally released the feature film 'Ulgulan - Ek Kranti' on the portal of the Public Relations Department.

Key Points

  • The film is shot in Bhagwan Birsa Munda's Karma Kshetra Khunti, Jharkhand. Madhya Pradesh is the first state, which is releasing this film digitally. The writer of the film is Pandit Bhushan and former Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker Kadiya Munda.
  • The film's producer-director Ashok Sharan told that Birsa Munda had declared the first Ulgulan, i.e. revolution, on December 24-25, 1898. The feature film 'Ulgulan - Ek Kranti' based on the life of Bhagwan Birsa Munda has been made in 35mm cinema scope Dolby Digital sound. Famous Bollywood actors have acted in the film.
  • It is known that Birsa Munda was born in the year 1875 in Ulihatu, Khunti, Jharkhand. Birsa Munda fought for the independence of India and for the protection of tribal religion and culture.
  • He died on 9 June 1900 in the Ranchi Central Jail due to poisoning by the British. Birsa Munda could not even complete the age of 25. As a result of the sacrifice of Birsa Munda and the resolve to protect the water-jungle-land, he was considered as God.

Indian Sign LanguageTextbooks Released

Why in News

On November 14, 2021, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar released Indian Sign Language textbooks up to class 5 prepared for the differently abled by the Hearing and Speech Disabled Welfare Center, Gurugram on Children's Day. Such textbooks have been prepared for the first time in the country.

Key Points

  • Textbooks have been prepared by this center for deaf and dumb children up to the age of 6 years and from 1st to 5th standard, which will benefit the hearing and speech disabilities of the country along with Haryana state.
  • The number of deaf and dumb people in the country is about 50 lakhs and in Haryana there are about 1.5 lakh such persons.
  • Along with sign language, a digital sign language lab has been set up in this wellness center, where more than 600 videos have been made for hearing and speech disabilities, which were used during Covid.
  • On this occasion, the Chief Minister also honored the students of Kalyan Kendra who excelled in sports at national and international level. Apart from this, he also felicitated the representatives of Colt Company which provided 350 laptops to this center and Batchtal Company which provided 2 digital screens and 17 staff members for supporting the operation of the Early Intervention Centre.
  • Haryana State Road Development Corporation has also provided IT equipment and 140 tablets worth about Rs 48 lakh to this centre.

On November 13, 2021, the players of Haryana were honored with the National Sports and Adventure Award-2021 by President Ram Nath Kovind for their excellent performance in Olympics and Paralympics-2020.

  • 12 sportspersons and 4 coaches from Haryana have received Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, Arjuna Award, Dronacharya Life Time Award, Dronacharya Award and Major Dhyan Chand Lifetime Achievement Award in this function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.
  • Para archer Neeraj Chopra, para shooter Manish Narwal, wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya and para athlete Sumit Antil have received the country's highest sports honor 'Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna'.
  • At the same time, 8 players belonging to Haryana, Para athlete Yogesh Kathunia, hockey player Surendra Palad, hockey player Singhraj Adhana, Sumit Kumar, wrestler Deepak Poonia, para archer Harvinder Singh, hockey player Monika Malik and Kabaddi player Sandeep Narwal will be awarded by Arjuna Award for Outstanding Performance in sports and competition for 2021.
  • Cricket coach Sarkar Talwar and Kabaddi coach Ashan Kumar have been honored in the Dronacharya Award (Life-time Category) for Outstanding Coaches in Sports and Competition 2021. Hockey coach Pritam Siwach has received the honor in the Dronacharya Award (regular category). Wrestler Sajjan Singh has been honored with the Dhyan Chand Award for Lifetime Achievement in Sports and Competition 2021.
  • Manav Rachna Educational Institute, Haryana has been awarded the Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar 2021 in the category of identification and nurturing of budding and young talent.
  • Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award (earlier Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award) was instituted by the Government in 1991-92. The award is given for the phenomenal and outstanding performance by a single player in the field during the last four years. The award consists of a medal, ceremonial dress, certificate and Rs 25.00 lakh in cash.
  • The Dronacharya Award was instituted in 1985 to honor eminent coaches who have successfully coached players or teams that have achieved outstanding results in international competitions. The awardee is given a statuette, certificate, ceremonial dress and Rs.15.00 lakh in lifetime category and Rs.10.00 in regular category.
  • Established in the year 1961, the Arjuna Award is given to those sportspersons who have consistently excelled at the international level in the last four years, along with the qualities of leadership, sportsmanship and spirit of discipline. The awardee is given a statuette, certificate, ceremonial dress and Rs 15.00 lakh in cash.
  • In order to honor those sportspersons who have contributed to sports through their performance and continue to contribute to the promotion of sports even after their retirement from active sporting life, the Dhyan Chand Award for Lifetime Achievement in Sports has been instituted since 2002. The award consists of a certificate, ceremonial dress and Rs.10.00 lakh in cash.
  • In order to recognize the contribution made in the development of sports by persons other than players and coaches, the government has constituted a new award titled National Khel Protsahan Puraskar from the year 2009, in which there are four categories, namely: (1) Identification and nurturing of budding/young talent (2) Promotion of sports through Corporate Social Responsibility (3) Employment and sports welfare measures for sportspersons (4) Sports awards for development One citation in each of the above mentioned categories and one Trophy is awarded. There is no cash prize in this.

State Foundation Day Ornamentation Parade Ceremony

On November 14, 2021, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren attended the Jharkhand State Foundation Day decoration parade ceremony and inspected the attractive parade.

  • The Chief Minister said that the Jap Ground at Doranda in the capital Ranchi has historical importance. It has been witness to many big and important celebrations and events. Chhattisgarh's Excellent Performance in Cleanliness Competition

Why in News

Recently, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India has informed the state of Chhattisgarh that this year, Chhattisgarh has again performed its best in the field of cleanliness while maintaining its status of the cleanest state in the country. In the year 2019 and 2020 also, Chhattisgarh was the leading state in terms of cleanliness.

  • Chhattisgarh will be rewarded in the category of cleanest states of India by President Ram Nath Kovid in the Swachh Amrit Mahotsav organized under the Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on the 75th anniversary of independence.
  • Chhattisgarh has also won this time in the world's biggest cleanliness competition organized by the Government of India. Chhattisgarh will not only be rewarded as a state but 61 cities here will also be rewarded for their excellent performance. Chhattisgarh will be the state whose highest number of bodies will be rewarded.
  • Apart from this, Chhattisgarh has been declared as the first ODF plus state of the country by the Government of India.
  • Swachh Survekshan is organized every year among all the cities and states of the country by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India. In this, urban cleanliness is assessed under various parameters.
  • Mainly, door-to-door garbage collection, scientific disposal of waste, open defecation free city, garbage free city etc. through third party assessment, feedback of citizens are also included in this. On this basis, by releasing the ranking of states and cities, the best performing states and cities are rewarded.

Swami Ram's 26th Mahasamadhi Day

Why in News

On November 13, 2021, the 26th Mahasamadhi Day of Swami Ram, the founder of Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust (HIHT) was celebrated at Swami Ram Himalayan University (SRHU). Union Minister of State for Defense and Tourism Ajay Bhatt was the chief guest on the occasion.

Key Points

  • Addressing the gathering, Bhatt said that Swami Ram founded the Himalaya Institute in 1989 guided by the principles of love and service. This university is one of the few institutes that produces doctors, nurses, engineers and management professionals under one roof.
  • In his address, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Vijay Dhasmana, while giving information about the future plans of the Trust, talked about the history of HIHT. He said that the Trust is moving ahead on the path of service to the people as per the goal of Swami Ram.
  • Various awards were also presented to the staff members of SRHU for their performance on the occasion. In the program, certificates were also given to the youth trained in the operation of home stay by the university.
  • Dhasmana said that in the first phase, 100 youths from all the districts of the state have been trained by the university. The trust aims to train around 1,000 youth. Swami Ram Manav Award was presented to Vinoba Seva Ashram on this occasion. Since 2003, HIHT has been presenting this award to an organization or individual for meritorious work in the economic, environmental, science, social and spiritual fields. Vinoba Seva Ashram in Shahjahanpur area of Uttar Pradesh is dedicated to social service for almost 40 years.
