Bastar Cafe Will Open in Raipur and Delhi
Why in News
- In the meeting of Chhattisgarh Tea-Coffee Board held under the chairmanship of Chhattisgarh Agriculture and Water Resources Minister Ravindra Choubey, initiative was taken to start Bastar Cafe in Raipur and New Delhi for sale-cum-marketing of coffee produced in Bastar.

- In the meeting, it was decided to sign MoUs with private companies for expanding the area under tea and coffee cultivation in Bastar and Surguja divisions and for marketing of coffee produced in Bastar.
- Presently, Bastar Cafe is being operated in Jagdalpur for sale-cum-marketing for coffee produced in Bastar.
- Minister Ravindra Choubey gave instructions to make a project by conducting a survey to promote the cultivation of tea and coffee in the plateau areas of Surguja division of the state including Bastar and said that for the marketing of coffee produced in Bastar, MoU with private companies with the condition Be that the name of Bastar will be compulsorily included in the brand name of coffee.
- He said that the necessary amount should be ensured from the DMM fund for setting up the machine for its processing. Along with this, the officials were also instructed to identify the area for coffee cultivation in Sukma district.
- Coffee plantation planted in 20 acres in Darbha has started production. In the first phase, 8 quintals of coffee has been produced, which is being used through Bastar Cafe operating in Jagdalpur, where two kg of coffee is being consumed per day. At least three more cafes can be started for the use and marketing of the quantity produced. For the branding of Bastar Coffee, it was said that one cafe each would be started in Raipur and Delhi.
- It was informed in the meeting that in the year 2021, coffee has been cultivated in 55 acres in Darbha of Bastar. At present, coffee cultivation is proposed in a total of 5108 acres in Bastar district.
- It is worth mentioning that in Bastar district, the target is to expand the cultivation of coffee in 1000 acres every year. It will be cultivated in 5820 acres by the year 2026.
- In the meeting, the action plan for promotion of tea cultivation in Jashpur district and the resources required for tea-coffee production were also discussed.

Governing Body of Rajiv Yuva Mitan Club Constituted

- On February 14, 2022, the governing body of Rajiv Yuva Mitan Club was formed by issuing an order by the Sports and Youth Welfare Department of Chhattisgarh State Government.

- Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has been made the chairman of the governing body and Umesh Patel, the sports and youth welfare minister, has been made the vice-president.
- Panchayat and Rural Development Minister TS Singhdeo, Urban Administration and Development Minister Dr Shivkumar Dahria, Lok Sabha MP Deepak Baij, Rajya Sabha MP Chhaya Verma, MLA Devendra Yadav, MLA Vinay Bhagat, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain and Additional Chief Secretary Subrata Sahu as members and Sports and The Secretary, Youth Welfare Department, has been made the ex-officio Member Secretary.
- It is noteworthy that in Chhattisgarh, Rajiv Yuva Mitan Club scheme has been started for the youth of 15 to 40 years of age, under which youth Mitan clubs have been formed.
- Conservation of environment, sports and culture is being promoted through Yuva Mitan Club. Youth Mitan Clubs are being formed in all the gram panchayats and urban bodies of the state.
