  • In the Gentlemen category, Nikhil Adesara secured the Best Gross accolade.
  • The event not only showcased exceptional golfing talent but also served as a platform for networking and fostering camaraderie among the participants.

PM-JANMAN

Why in News?

Prime Minister will release Rs 540 crore, the first installment of funding pucca homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) to one lakh Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) beneficiary families as a part of recently launched PM-JANMAN
(Pradhan Mantri-Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan Scheme), package for the overall development of PVTG habitations.

Key Points

  • PM-JANMAN (comprising Central Sector and Centrally Sponsored Schemes) was launched for the socio-economic welfare of PVTGs on 15th November 2023 in Khunti, Jharkhand, on the occasion of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas.
  • PM-JANMAN, with a budget of approximately Rs 24,000 crore, focuses on 11 critical interventions through 9 Ministries.
  • An amount of Rs.15,000 crore will be made available to implement the Mission in the next three years under the Development Action Plan for the Scheduled Tribes (DAPST).
  • It is part of the Pradhan Mantri Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups Development Mission that finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced in the Union Budget 2023-24 in February 2023.
  • It is aimed to improve socio-economic conditions of the PVTGs by saturating PVTG households and habitations with basic facilities such as safe housing, clean drinking water and sanitation, electricity, road and telecom connectivity etc.
  • India has a Scheduled Tribes population of 10.45 crore as per 2011 census, out of which 75 communities located in 18 States and the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands have been categorized as PVTGs.

PMI Electro Mobility, a leading electric bus manufacturer has delivered 50 e-buses to Uttar Pradesh, which will ply in Ayodhya.

  • The buses were flagged off by Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath as part of the zero-carbon public mobility initiative from Ayodhya Dham bus stand.
  • This will facilitate visiting dignitaries, pilgrims, and local citizens with the sustainable, and comfortable modes of public transport complementing the green transport mission at Ayodhya to reduce air pollution.

CM Mega Health Camp in Alirajpur

Why in News?

Recently, Chief Minister Free Mega Health Camp was held at the Eklavya Adarsh Residential School (EMRS) in Umral, Alirajpur district in Madhya Pradeshi.

Key Points

  • EMRS started in the year 1997-98 to impart quality education to Scheduled Tribes children in remote areas in order to enable them to avail of opportunities in high and professional educational courses and get employment in various sectors.
  • From 2022 onwards, every block with more than 50% ST population and at least 20,000 tribal persons, will have an EMRS.
  • Eklavya schools will be on par with Navodaya Vidyalaya and will have special facilities for preserving local art and culture besides providing training in sports and skill development.
