Nine New Dairy Plants will Open in the State

Why In News?

  • During his speech at the inaugural session of International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit 2022 held in Greater Noida on September 12, 2022, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the state is the top milk producer of the country and the next two Nine new dairy plants will be operational in the years.

Key Points

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the International Dairy Federation World Dairy Conference 2022 held in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The conference was last held in India in 1974.
  • The four-day dairy conference is being attended by dairy people from all over the world, including India. Apart from this, industry leaders, experts, farmers and policy makers will also participate in the program.
  • The conference focuses on the theme 'Dairy for Nutrition and Livelihood'. Apart from this, it also focuses on job creation and nutrition, which are quite relevant issues.
  • Yogi Adityanath said That Uttar Pradesh contributes 16 percent to the total dairy production of the country with an annual milk production of 319 lakh tonnes and is the top milk producing state in the country.
  • He said that at present 110 dairies are functioning in the organized sector in Uttar Pradesh and this includes dairies in the cooperative sector. There are also 8,600 milk societies in the state, through which more than four lakh members engaged in milk production are active.
  • He said that at present work is going on in full swing to start a new greenfield dairy plant in Uttar Pradesh. These plants will be commissioned in the next one to two years. Work is underway to establish four more such milk producer institutions in different areas of the state. He said that the state government would invest in the state under Nand Baba Milk Mission during the next five years.

PM Inaugurates International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit 2022 in Greater Noida

Why In News?

  • On September 12, 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit 2022 (IDF World Dairy Summit 2022) held at India Expo Center & Mart, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

Key Points

  • Held from September 12 to 15, the four-day IDF WDS 2022, focused on the theme of 'Dairy for Nutrition and Livelihood', is a gathering of global and Indian dairy stakeholders including industry stalwarts, experts, farmers and policy planners.
  • Around 1500 participants from 50 countries are expected to participate in IDF WDS 2022 . The last such summit was held in India almost half a century ago in 1974.
  • The Prime Minister spoke of the importance of 'livestock' and milk-related business in India's cultural landscape. He said that unlike other developed countries of the world, the real strength of the dairy sector in India is small farmers. India's dairy sector is identified more by 'production by mass' than 'mass production'. Based on the efforts of these small farmers with one, two or three cattle, India is the largest milk producing country.
  • He said milk production across the world is growing at a rate of 2 percent while in India it is growing at an annual rate of over 6 percent. The sector provides employment to more than 8 crore families in the country.
  • The government has taken several steps for the betterment of the dairy sector, resulting in an increase of over 44 percent in milk production in the last eight years.
  • The Indian dairy industry is unique as it is based on a cooperative model that empowers small and marginal dairy farmers, especially women.
  • The success story of the Indian dairy industry, which accounts for about 23 per cent of global milk, produces around 210 million tonnes annually and empowers over 80 million dairy farmers, will be showcased at IDF WDS 2022.
  • Organizing this summit will help Indian dairies as well as help farmers in getting information about global best practices.

BSPHCL Signs Agreement with REC Ltd.

Why In News?

  • On September 12, 2022, Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited (BSPHCL) signed an agreement with REC Limited in a major step to strengthen the power infrastructure.

Key Points

  • MoU was signed with REC Limited under the Revitalization Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) to improve the operational efficiency and financial stability of Power Distribution Companies (Discoms) and cut down on aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) losses.
  • Sanjeev Hans, Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD), BSPHCL signed agreement with Joginath Pradhan, Chief Program Manager, REC Limited in the presence of Managing Directors of North Bihar Vidyut Vitran Company Limited (NBPDCL) and Dakshin Bihar Vidyut Vitran Company Limited (SBPDCL). signed at.
  • NBPDCL and SBPDCL will get Rs 6,625 crore under the agreement. Apart from this, Rs 1,993 crore will be available for the work of smart prepaid meters. Of the total allocated funds, 60% will come from the center and 40% from the state government.
  • Under RDSS, NBPDCL will get Rs 3,100 crore and SBPDCL Will get Rs 3,525 crore to strengthen infrastructure. NBPDCL will be allocated Rs 969 crore and SBPDCL Rs 1,024 crore for smart prepaid meter work.
  • 400 crore will be allocated to power distribution companies (discoms) to cut AT&C losses by March 2026 for Information Technology Operational Technology (ITOT).
  • According to Sanjeev Hans the infrastructure will be strengthened with the allocation of funds. He informed that the target is to reduce AT&C from 25.74% (2020-21) of NBPDCL to 16% by 2025 and from 36.80% (2020-21) to 20% for SBPDCL in the next three years.

Formation of District Wetland Conservation Committees in the state

Why In News?

  • On September 12, 2022, wetland conservation committees were formed by the state government under the chairmanship of district collectors.

Key Points

  • In the committee, Chief Executive Officer, District Panchayat for rural areas and Commissioner Municipal Corporation and Chief Municipal Officer, Municipal Corporation Council, will be Member Secretary in urban areas.
  • Members include District Forest Officer, District Land Settlement Officer, Superintending or Executive or Assistant Engineer, Public Health Engineering and Water Resources Department, Joint Director or Deputy Director, Assistant Director, Town and Country Investment, Agriculture, Fisheries, Regional Officer, Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board and State Wetland Authority will be the officials of EPCO.
  • The duties of the District Wetland Conservation Committee include taking appropriate action regarding the overall conservation and management of ponds at the district level, acting as an associate unit of the State Wetland Authority, effective implementation of the Wetland Rules-2017 in the district, by the state and central government. This includes assisting the State Wetland Authority in the implementation, evaluation and monitoring of the schemes being implemented.
  • The committee will collect all the information of the ponds of the district and prepare a database and will also be responsible for its maintenance. The committee will coordinate between the concerned departments and stakeholders related to the conservation of ponds in the district and identify the ponds as per the identified digital wetland inventory and confirm them at the field level.
  • The committee will organize awareness training and capacity development programs to make people aware of wetlands, ponds, rivers, other water sources, environmental protection of natural resources and pollution control on special occasions like World Wetland Day, World Water Day, World Earth Day, World Environment Day etc.

One Lakh Wells and Ponds will be Constructed in Jharkhand

Why In News?

  • On September 12, 2022, in the meeting of the Disaster Management Authority held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, it was decided that one lakh wells and ponds would be constructed in the state to deal with the drought situation.

  • After the meeting of the Disaster Management Authority ended, Departmental Minister Banna Gupta said that a scheme of Rs 2,500 crore will be celebrated for the development and employment generation of rural areas.
  • Minister Banna Gupta said that for employment generation in rural areas, work will be started on 5 schemes of MNREGA in every village, while accident insurance amount of Rs 1 lakh will be provided to the villagers.
  • Apart from this, efforts will be made to ensure payment of the amount of Sarvajan Pension implemented in Jharkhand by the 5th of every month and to provide the benefit of this scheme to as many people as possible.
  • The Disaster Management Minister said that 5 lakh new ration cards will be made in Jharkhand. Apart from this, the government is also focusing on ex-gratia. Necessary steps will also be taken in this direction so that the poor farmers of the state do not migrate, the cattle get adequate fodder and the shortage of water is overcome.
  • In the meeting, officials informed that earlier in the years 2013-14, 2018-19 and 2022-23, drought conditions have arisen in different parts of the state. In this way, every third-fourth year, drought conditions are arising in different parts of the state and there is a problem due to the effect of the weather cycle.

Six Youth Discovered New Rhythm in Uttarakhand

Why In News?

  • Recently, six youths from Tehri, Pauri and Rudraprayag districts of Uttarakhand have discovered a new rhythm in the Himalayan region. No name has been given to Taal yet. This pool is 160 meters long and 155 meters wide.

  • Abhishek Panwar and Akash Panwar of Gondar village, Deepak Panwar of Giria village, Vinay Negi and Lalit Mohan Lingwal of Tehri-Badiagarh and Arvind Rawat of Khandah-Srinagar started their trekking expedition from Gondar village on 27th August.
  • Abhishek Panwar, who was involved in the team, told that Nandi Kund, Kanchani Tal, Ashit Tal, Maina Tal are situated all around the anonymous pool. Vinay Singh Negi of Tehri-Badiyargarh found a pool near the Maheshwar-Pandvasera-Nandkundi-Ghiya Vinayak Pass-Panapatia trekking circuit in Google Earth in June-July last year.
  • He prepared a digital map of the entire trekking circuit and also took the help of old maps. After this all the six youths made a plan to explore this unnamed pool and started the rhythm search campaign. Young trekkers reached Tal with the help of Google Earth and old maps. The new rhythm is very beautiful and gorgeous.
  • According to the youth, they reached the glacier camp site from the dry pool situated at an altitude of 4350 meters above sea level, which is at an altitude of 5100 meters above sea level. After this, on September 1, the trekker descended about one and a half hundred meters before proceeding from the glacier camp, where he saw this pool.
  • This pool is situated at an altitude of 4870 meters above sea level. The length of the pool is 160 meters, width is 155 meters. With regard to the naming of the pool, the entire area which is decorated with ancient pools and pools will be studied.
