Chief Minister Inaugurates Water Sports Activities at Hathnikund Barrage

Why In News?

On November 8, 2023, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal started water riding and boating in Yamuna at Hathnikund Barrage located on Yamuna River in Yamunanagar district.

Key Points:

  • On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that due to tourism, such activities can be increased in many areas in Haryana. In terms of tourism, there are many possibilities down the hill from Kalesar to Kalka, such as one can visit various places like Adi Badri, Lohgarh, Trilokpur Devi Temple through foot trekking, cycle trekking and motorcycle etc.
  • In Haryana too, a park is being built on Hathnikund Barrage to increase people's interest in tourism. This park is named after the former Prime Minister of India, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
  • It is worth mentioning that the Jungle Safari Project will be built on about 10 thousand acres in the area of Gurugram and Nuhan districts. It will start soon.
  • The Chief Minister said that the fresh head was smaller earlier. After that Hathnikund Barrage was built, but due to excess water, a 50-meter-high dam was built in Kalesar. People of Haryana, Himachal, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh will get direct benefits from this dam.
  • This project is the meeting point of 4 states. There will be a possibility of tourism here and the water needs of all four states can be met. Electricity can also be generated through this. Rajasthan and Delhi will also be able to benefit from this.

9th India International Science Festival will be organized in Faridabad

Why In News?

On November 8, 2023, Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal informed that the 9th India International Science Festival will be organized by the Department of Science Technology, Government of India at Regional Biotechnology Centre, Faridabad from January 17 to 20, 2024 to promote science interest among students.

Key Points:

  • About 12 thousand students from various schools and colleges across the country will participate in the International Science Festival.
  • International research and advancements in the field of science will be discussed in detail in the International Science Festival.
  • During Amrit Kaal, the latest developments in the field of science and technology innovation in New India will be showcased.
  • Apart from lectures on various scientific subjects, exhibitions will be organized in this festival, which will run for four consecutive days. In this, 35 students from every district of Haryana from class 8 to 11 will display their models on science.
