Jharkhand School Innovation Challenge-2023

Why In News?

The result of the Grand Finale of Jharkhand School Innovation Challenge-2023 organized by IIT ISM, Dhanbad, Jharkhand on September 9, 2023 has been released, in which Loyola School of East Singhbhum became the state champion.

  • It is known that plastic bottles thrown in the garbage have always been a matter of concern for environmentalists. They are always looking for ways to manage it properly. In this direction, the team of Loyola School of East Singhbhum has given a creative solution to this problem.
  • Sagar Kumar and Sankalp Kumar, students of Loyola School, East Singhbhum, have developed a technology to convert used and waste plastic into useful material.
  • A team of students from Loyola School, Jamshedpur has developed a 3D printer that can make useful items from plastic bottles thrown in the garbage. This 3D printer first cuts plastic bottles with the help of a machine and turns them into fine fibers, then molds this fiber and makes useful items from the 3D printer. This project is a creative way of waste management.
  • IIT ISM's Naresh Vashishtha Center for Innovation and Tinkering (NVCTI) will assist in the marketing of this product.
  • In the competition, the team of Mahendra Muni Saraswati Vidya Mandir of Madhupur in Deoghar district stood second and the team of Hill Top School of Jamshedpur stood third.
  • Along with this, consolation prizes were given to the teams of DBMS English School, Jamshedpur and SDSM School, Jamshedpur, which stood fourth and fifth respectively.
  • Teams from 10 schools from across the state had reached the grand finale. Of the five best ideas awarded, four are teams from Jamshedpur schools.
  • Chief guest and Vice Chancellor of Jharkhand Technical University, Prof. (Dr.) DK Singh honored the winning team with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a trophy.
  • The team of Mahendra Muni Saraswati Vidya Mandir (Aman Kumar, Anshu Kumar and Roshan Kumar) has together developed a firefighter drone. This drone is capable of automatically picking up water from a nearby water source and spraying it on the fire.
  • Aman Kumar said that the idea of developing it came to him because of the fire that broke out in a school in Deoghar four-five months ago. All three started working together on this project about two months ago. The entire cost of developing this drone is Rs 14 thousand. 2200 mAh battery has been used in it. It supplies power to the drone.
  • The team (Aarush Kumar, Darshil Tripathi and Siddharth Singh) from Hill Top Public School, Jamshedpur has developed the Khet Rakshak App to help farmers. This app will tell in time when locusts are going to attack the crops in the fields. With this, farmers can stop locust attacks by using pesticides in their fields in time.
  • Also, this app is capable of identifying diseases occurring in crops. After this, farmers can take measures to protect their crops. This app will provide updated status of fields to farmers every five minutes through SMS along with WhatsApp.

Odisha-Jharkhand Expressway

Why In News?

According to the information received from the media on September 9, 2023, the DPR of the expressway to be built from Littibeda in Odisha to Sithio (Ring Road) in Jharkhand's capital Ranchi has been prepared. Total 147 km. A long expressway is to be built, which will be a completely green corridor.

  • Out of this, 121 km is to be built in Jharkhand. Three phase work worth around Rs 3400 crore is to be done here. This also includes the amount of land acquisition. At the same time, about 26 km will be constructed in Odisha. Its cost will be around Rs 700 crore.
  • With the construction of this road, it will be possible to reach Sambalpur from Ranchi in about two hours.
  • It is known that the alignment of this road was not being finalized. Once it was amended by the Ministry of Forest and Environment. Once again there was objection to this. In such a situation, the DPR was changed several times.
  • A corridor will be constructed for the passage of wild animals, elephants etc. To prevent wild animals from coming on the road, an eight feet high guardwall will be built. Many measures are being taken regarding security.
  • Work is to be done in three phases in Jharkhand. In the first phase, work of about 30.35 km is to be done from Keriya to Kyondapani. In the second phase, 43.7 km from Kyondapani to Latra and in the third phase, about 47 km from Latra to Sithio (Ranchi). The work will be done.
  • At the same time, in Odisha, the road will be built in two phases from Litebada to Jamtoli (Keria) via Zoram.

Second Subarnashila Samman

Why In News?

On September 9, 2023, 'Subarnashila Samman', given every year by 'Vibhuti Smriti Sansad', a cultural literary organization of Ghatshila city of Jharkhand, for notable literary contribution in other languages including Bengali, this year the National Executive Member of Ghatshila's Literary Progressive Writers Association and State Deputy General Secretary Shekhar Mallik along with Dilip Chakraborty and Shanta Chakraborty have been announced.

  • It is known that last year this honor was given to important Hindi storyteller Ranendra ji.
  • This year, along with litterateur Shekhar Mallik, senior Bengali writer, journalist Dilip Chakraborty (co-editor with Mitra Sen Majumdar of the book 'Untold Stories of IPTA and Niranjan Sen') and Bengali language poet Shanta Chakraborty are also being given this honour.
  • It is known that 5 books of Shekhar Mallik have been published so far. The country's well-known writer Shekhar Mallik writes stories of social and political concerns. His novel Kalchiti on tribal life is very famous and stories like 'Dyanmari', 'Jungle More Duladia' are also popular.
  • In the same year, Shekhar received the prestigious youth award of the Indian Language Council, Kolkata.
  • Dilip Chakraborty is an honorary life member of the Kolkata Press Club. He has received the Kalam Sena honour. Some of the famous books of Dilip Chakraborty are 'Tahader Prem Katha', 'Lock Downer Dinguli' and 'Shreni Sangramer Sabyasachi' etc.
  • Shanta Chakraborty writes poetry and does journalism. That source is the editor of Swamini Ichchamati. His poems have been highly appreciated in the Bengali speaking reader community.
  • According to the information released by 'Vibhuti Smriti Sansad' Ghatshila, on the occasion of the 129th birth anniversary of Vibhuti Bhushan Bandyopadhyay, this felicitation ceremony will be organized under a literary gathering at Vibhuti Manch, College Road (Ghatshila) on September 12, 2023.
