The Chief Minister Performed Bhoomi Pujan of the New Hospital building of Raipur Medical College.

Why In News?

On September 9, 2023, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel performed the bhoomi pujan of the new integrated hospital building with 700 bed capacity at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Raipur.

  • The construction of a modern well-equipped hospital building for the hospital affiliated to the medical college at a cost of Rs 322 crore will start soon.
  • The Chief Minister also inaugurated the diamond jubilee celebrations of the college at the Medical College Auditorium. Exactly 60 years ago, on September 9, 1963, the Government Medical College of Raipur was established.
  • Deputy Chief Minister T.S. Addressing the program, Singhdev said that the 60 years of journey of Raipur Medical College has been wonderful. The hospital associated with this is a great hope for the people of the state. Asia's most advanced machinery is also available here. Singhdev said that approval has been given for the Genome Sequencing Lab in Raipur Medical College.
  • Renu ji, Additional Chief Secretary, Medical Education Department. Pillay said in the program that Raipur Medical College is the largest tertiary care hospital in the state. In view of the continuously increasing number of patients here, the need for a well-equipped integrated hospital building was being felt for a long time. After the Bhoomi Pujan today, its construction will start soon.
  • Dean Dr. Trupti Nagaria said that its journey started on this day in 1963 with 60 students. Now there are 230 MBBS seats and 150 PG seats. He informed that the capacity of the hospital affiliated to the medical college has increased from 700 beds to 1248.
  • With the increase of 700 beds in the new integrated hospital building, the number of beds here will increase to around two thousand. This will be the only hospital in Central India with a capacity of two thousand beds. With increased facilities in hospitals, people will get better treatment.
  • This is a big step by the state government in the direction of providing the benefits of state-of-the-art health facilities to the people of the state. With its construction, the citizens of the capital will be able to get the facility of a modern super specialty hospital.
  • This 700 bed hospital to be built in Dr. Bhimrao Smriti Chikitsalaya Raipur will have seven floors apart from basement floor, lower ground floor and ground floor. In this hospital, patients will get all the facilities of a super specialty hospital.
  • This integrated new hospital building will be constructed in 70 thousand 896 square meters. Provision for fire fighting system, HVAC system, IBMS system etc. has been made in the building.

Chief Minister Paid Rs 23.93 Crore to the Beneficiaries of 'Godhan Nyay Yojana'

Why In News?

On September 9, 2023, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel transferred Rs 23 crore 93 lakh from the Chief Minister's Residence Office to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries in the online distribution program under 'Godhan Nyaya Yojana'.

  • In the amount transferred online to the accounts of the beneficiaries of 'Godhan Nyay Yojana', Rs 5.36 crore was given to cow dung sellers, Rs 1.63 crore to Gothan committees and Rs 1.14 crore to self-help groups, along with Rs 12.32 crore to self-help groups. This includes an additional incentive amount of Rs 1.23 crore to cooperative societies and an honorarium amount of Rs 2.25 crore to the chairpersons and members of self-reliant Gothan committees.
  • After payment of Rs 29 crore 93 lakh to the beneficiaries under Godhan Nyay Yojana, a total of Rs 581.24 crore has been paid so far.
  • Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel made online payment of Rs 5.36 crore to cow dung sellers in lieu of 2.68 lakh quintals of cow dung purchased from August 15 to August 31 in Gothans. So far, 133.22 quintals of cow dung has been purchased in Gothans, in return for which Rs 261.08 crore has been paid to animal husbandry farmers. After payment of Rs 5.36 crore, the total amount of cow dung purchase has become Rs 266.44 crore.
  • After the amount of Rs 2.77 crore paid to Gothan committees and women self-help groups, the amount to be paid to them has increased to Rs 275.01 crore.
  • On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced a total of Rs 12 crore 32 lakh on the sale of compost to the self-help groups involved in the production of compost from cow dung at the rate of Re 1 per kilogram and a total of Rs 1 crore 23 to the cooperative societies at the rate of 10 paise per kg. Lakh rupees were released online as an incentive amount. The Chief Minister transferred Rs 2 crore 25 lakh as honorarium to 42 thousand 644 members of self-reliant Gothans in their bank accounts.
  • It is noteworthy that under the Godhan Nyaya Yojana, the participation of self-reliant Gothan committees in the matter of cow dung procurement is continuously increasing. Out of 10288 Gothans built and operated in the state, 6252 Gothans have become self-reliant, and are purchasing cow dung from cow dung sellers with their own funds. Self-reliant Gothans have so far purchased cow dung worth Rs 76 crore 42 lakh with their own money.
  • The Chief Minister said that by purchasing cow urine at the rate of four rupees per liter in Gothans, the women of women self-help groups are preparing Brahmastra and Jeevamrut from it, which is being made available to the farmers at concessional rates. Farmers have now started using organic pesticides Brahmastra and Jeevamrut instead of expensive pesticides.
  • On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the state government has made a record in paddy procurement every year. This year it is expected that 125 lakh metric paddy will be purchased.

Chhattisgarh Made World Record in Performing Setu Bandha Asana

On September 10, 2023, Chhattisgarh registered its name in golden letters in the Golden Book of World Records for the performance of Setu Bandha Asana.

  • At the Late Balbir Juneja Indoor Stadium in Budhapara, capital Raipur, more than 2000 yoga practitioners from all over the state, forming a pattern of the tricolor, collectively performed Setu Bandha Asana for a world record.
  • It is known that this program was organized by Chhattisgarh Yoga Commission with the aim of making people aware of the importance of yoga and motivating them for a healthy lifestyle.
  • Keeping people's health as priority, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel handed over an important responsibility to Chhattisgarh Yoga Commission. To fulfill this, the Commission has started about 50 regular free yoga practice centers in the state. Yoga is being propagated from village to village by providing training to yoga practitioners of all divisions.
  • Giving priority to the health of common citizens, free yoga centers have been opened in more than 90 percent of the wards of his assembly constituency.
  • In the group yoga practice program, along with Setu Bandha Asana, other asanas, pranayam and meditation were also practiced.

Gift of Millet from the Women of Bastar to the First Lady who Came to G-20

  • First ladies and spouses of participating heads of G-20 countries were given a special invitation to an agricultural exhibition at the IARI complex on Pusa Road on 9 September.
  • Sangeeta Kashyap, who came from Bastanar block of Bastar district, said that she had prepared dishes prepared from millet like millet laddu, ragi cookies, ragi chakli, kodo-kutki etc. He gifted a basket of dishes made from millet to the First Lady of Australia. The women of Bastar also invited the First Lady to visit Bastar.
  • Rukmani Kottam, nodal officer of Chhattisgarh Agriculture Department, said that in the stall set up by Chhattisgarh Agriculture Department in Pusa, products made from bamboo like Supa, Tukni, Basket, Tuma, Chhatri as well as products made from millet were kept.
