Industrial Parks To be Built in 15 Cities

Why in News?

On May 8, 2022, sources in the Chief Minister's Office said that private sector industrial parks would be developed in 15 cities to make the state an industrial hub by promoting industrial activities in Uttar Pradesh.

Key Points

  • Sources in the Chief Minister's Office said that a plan has been prepared in the identified districts for setting up a 'Private Industrial Park' (PIP) in the state.
  • The industries covered under PIP in the initial phase of the scheme include textiles, readymade garments, food processing, perfumery, brass products and electronic products industries.
  • The districts identified under this include Lucknow, Unnao, Amethi, Sultanpur, Pratapgarh, Auraiya, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Azamgarh, Ambedkar Nagar, Gorakhpur and Prayagraj.
  • The development of PIP in the state will be done in collaboration with Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDC).
  • In this context, land has been marked along the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Unnao for the first PIP of the state.

National Co-operative Spices Fair, 2022

Why in News?

On May 9, 2022, the ten-day National Co-operative Spices Fair, 2022 organized at Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur came to an end. It started on 30 April.

  • In this fair, the committees have been rewarded in terms of business and display. Among these top organizations on the basis of sales, Confed stood at first place, Tilam Sangh at second place and Jaipur Dairy at third place.
  • Bhinmal got first place, second place Mathania and third place was Abu Road in the purchase and sale cooperative societies. Similarly, in the category of district consumer stores, Kota, Udaipur and Jodhpur stood first, second and third respectively.
  • On the basis of best display, KRIBHCO, IFFCO among national level institutions and Rajfed, Confed, Tilam Sangh, Jaipur Dairy and Apex Bank were awarded among top cooperative institutions.
  • The cooperatives of Marketfed Kerala, Erode, Punjab, Tanfed Tamil Nadu were awarded for the sale and display of state specific products and spices.
  • In the category of district consumer stores, Udaipur, Sriganganagar and Kota stood first, second and third respectively. Similarly, in the category of KVSS, Nagaur, Abu Road and Jodhpur stood first, second and third respectively.

Why in News?

On May 9, 2022, Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal informed that it has been decided to prepare the District Good Governance Index for overall development in the state.

  • Through this a state level development index can be prepared by conducting comparative studies at the district level.
  • This will ensure healthy competition in terms of development among the districts, which will result in an increase in the development index of the state.
  • This index will be similar to the index produced by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
  • Noteworthy, 58 development indexes on 10 sectors have been prepared by the Jammu and Kashmir government.
  • These 10 sectors are – Agriculture and Allied Sectors, Commerce and Industry, Human Resource Development, Public Health, Civil Infrastructure and Facilities, Social Welfare and Development, Financial Inclusion, Justice and Public Security, Environment and Civil Central Governance.

Chief Minister Employment Generation Programme

Why in News?

On May 9, 2022, in a press release issued by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Government of Jharkhand, it has been told that in the last two and a half years, three times the benefit has been given to the self-employed under the 'Chief Minister Employment Generation Programme'.

Key Points

  • Under this, loans worth Rs 59.61 crore have been disbursed among 3,976 youth in the last financial year. As a result, three times youth have got the benefit of this scheme in the last two years for self-employment.
  • With the formation of the new government, the benefit of this scheme is being given from the year 2021-22 by re-starting the 'Minister Employment Generation Programme'.
  • Under this, a loan of Rs. 25 lakh is provided to young citizens of the state between the ages of 18 and 45 to start their own business. Along with this 40% subsidy or Rs. 5 lakh is provided by the government.
  • Only Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Minorities, Backward Class Citizens and Women of Sakhi Mandal can get the benefit of the scheme.

Procurement of Kosa Cocoon Under Silk Mission in Bastar

Why in News?

On May 9, 2022, an order was issued by the Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Association to purchase cocoons at the minimum support price from the current year through the Minor Forest Produce Association.

  • It is worth mentioning that Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, in the budget speech of the current financial year, had announced to start the Silk Mission in the interest of tribal-forest farmers engaged in silkworm rearing and cocoon production in Bastar division.
  • The purchase rate has been fixed by the Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Association for collection on its support price in Bastar division.
  • With this important decision of the government, now the local residents will get the double benefit of production and processing of kosa cocoons.
  • Sanjay Shukla, Managing Director, State Minor Forest Produce Association informed that MoU has been signed between State Minor Forest Produce Association and Silk Directorate to increase employment at the local level by increasing the local processing of kosa cocoons in the state.
  • According to this MoU, the cocoons purchased by the Minor Forest Produce Association will be provided to the Silk Department.
  • By selecting 740 beneficiaries in Bastar division by the Silk Department, training in silk threading has also been started.
  • Significantly, 8 to 10 crore rally cocoons are produced in the state. Rally kosa collection is mainly done in 7 district unions Jagdalpur, Dantewada, Sukma, Kondagaon, Keshkal, Narayanpur and Kanker.
