Mahila Mate Samman Utsav

Why in News

• In the context of International Women's Day on March 9, 2022, Mahila Mate Samman Utsav, working under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA scheme, was organized.

Key Points

• In the Samman Utsav, 75 such women mates were honored, who have done excellent work in their field. Certificates were distributed to them in the program.
• This program was organized in collaboration with the organization 'Pradhan'.
• On this occasion, MGNREGA Commissioner Sufia Farooqui Wali said that in the beginning of MGNREGA scheme only men were employed as mates, but now women are also being given work as mates.
• To increase the participation and entitlement of women under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA, work is being given in the scheme by selecting female mates in the state.
• The main responsibility of women as mates is to help the workers in demanding employment, attendance at work and payment of wages on time.
• These women are paid as per the rate applicable for semi-skilled workers.

ITF Tennis Tournament

Why in News

• On March 8, 2022, Madhya Pradesh's Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia inaugurated the ITF Men's World Tennis Tournament at Bhopal's Arera Club by blowing up colorful balloons.

Key Points

• A total of 6 countries are participating in this tournament. These include 2 players from France, 2 from Great Britain and one each from Germany, Poland, Japan and Czechoslovakia.
• The winner of this competition will be given a prize of 15 thousand dollars.
• It is worth mentioning that this tournament is being organized continuously for 6 years in which eminent tennis players of the world participate.

Deendayal Antyodaya Rasoi Yojana

• On March 8, 2022, Madhya Pradesh Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh informed that in the second phase of Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana, one crore food plates have been distributed since February 26, 2021.

Key Points

• During the second wave of the Covid epidemic, 27 lakh 19 thousand people were fed food from kitchen centers in the lockdown implemented from April 12 to June 27, 2021. The distribution of food from kitchen centers is going on continuously.
• It is noteworthy that Deendayal Antyodaya Rasoi Yojana (Phase II) was launched on February 26, 2021 with the objective of providing nutritious food at affordable rates to the poor and needy persons of the state. In this, operation of 100 kitchen centers has been started in 52 district headquarters and 6 religious cities of the state- Maihar, Omkareshwar, Maheshwar, Amarkantak, Orchha and Chitrakoot.
• In the kitchen center, Chapati/Roti, seasonal vegetables, pulses and rice are made available to the general public in the form of clean and nutritious food. In the kitchen centers, daily lunch is being arranged per person at the rate of Rs 10 per plate from 10 am to 3 pm.
• The food grains used in the kitchen centers are wheat and rice at Re 1 per kg. Provided by the Food Department through the Fair Price Shop.

Selfie Point Prepared Under West to Wonder

Why in News

• On March 8, 2022, Madhya Pradesh's Medical Education Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang inaugurated a 20 feet high selfie point built under 'West to Wonder' at Prabhat crossroads in the capital Bhopal.

Key Points

• In this selfie point with the shape of corona vaccine and syringe, such unusable items have been used, which were junk. This selfie point has been prepared by Bhopal Municipal Corporation from about 30 thousand waste bottles and about 3 tonnes of junk.
• Giving the message of public awareness, this selfie point will inspire people to get the corona vaccine, as well as give a message of awareness about environmental protection.
• Minister Sarang said that Selfie Point will give the message that there is protection from vaccines only, the person who is eligible must get the vaccine.
