'The Folk Dances of Rajasthan'

Why in News?

  • On July 7, 2022, former Joint Director of Information and Public Relations Department, Pannalal Meghwal presented the first copy of his book 'Rajasthan Lokabhivyakti Ke Aayam' and its English translation 'The Folk Dances of Rajasthan' to Governor Kalraj Mishra at Raj Bhavan on July 7, 2022.

  • Director Pannalal Meghwal said that in the book 'Rajasthan Lokabhivyakti Ke Aayam', research-based information has been included about the tradition of folk dances, folk singing and folk dance of Rajasthan.
  • In this book, the folk dances of Rajasthan's Terhtali, Ghoomar, Chari, Kalbelia, Chakri, Bhavai, Jasnathi, Dhakad, Gindad, Veer Tejaji, Kachchi Ghodi, Kathori, Bhil, Garasiya, Gair, Chang, Bam, Dhol and Shukar are included.
  • In the book Mand, Manganiyar and Languria singing, Turra Kalangi, Kuchamani Khayal and Gawri Loknatya, Sahariya and Tuntia Swang, Bikaner's Rammat, Rajasthan's Nat tradition, Puppet dance art and folk instruments of Rajasthan have been discussed in detail.

Indira Gandhi Matritva Poshan Yojana

Why in News?

  • On July 6, 2022, a meeting was held with the Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) and the associate body IPE Global under the chairmanship of Minister for Women and Child Development, Child Empowerment and Planning Mamta Bhupesh in the context of implementation of 'Indira Gandhi Matritva Poshan Yojana' across Rajasthan.

Key Points

  • In the meeting, Minister Mamata Bhupesh informed that as per the announcement made by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in the Budget 2022-23 to implement the 'Indira Gandhi Matritva Poshan Yojana' for women of the whole of Rajasthan, the scheme will be implemented in the entire Rajasthan in the coming time.
  • He said that under this scheme, an amount of Rs 6,000 is being given to women for maternal and child nutrition and good health on the birth of the second child. This amount is transferred directly to the women's account. This is a unique innovation of the Government of Rajasthan in the entire country.
  • In the five districts of the TSP area of the state, where the number of severely malnourished children was high, 'Indira Gandhi Matritva Poshan Yojana' has been run since last year. CIFF and IP Global are providing support in running the scheme.
  • It is noteworthy that the Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) is working on a contractual basis with the Government of Rajasthan for the purpose of cooperation in the implementation of various schemes related to women and children in different departments of the Government of Rajasthan.
  • Under this, through CIFF, the partner organization IPE is providing technical support to the Women and Child Development Department in the implementation of 'Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana' and 'Indira Gandhi Matritva Poshan' under the Global RajPusht Program.
