Asian Sailing Championship

Why in News

  • MP State Sailing Academy players Ritika Dangi and Neha Thakur won gold and bronze medals respectively in the Asian Sailing Championship held in Abu Dhabi from February 27 to March 6, 2022.

Key Points

  • Ritika Dangi won gold medal in ILCA-4 (Laser 4.7 class boat) event, while Neha Thakur brought laurels to the country and the state by winning a bronze medal in this event.
  • With this the Indian sailing team has qualified for the Asian Games.
  • Ritika Dangi is a resident of village Tajpura, Narsinghgarh Tehsil, District Rajgarh, while Neha Thakur is a resident of Amaltaj village of Hatpipliya Tehsil of Dewas district.
  • Chief coach of MP State Sailing Academy, Mr. Arjun and Vishwamitra awardee GL Yadav said that both Ritika and Neha are strong contenders for medals in Asian Games. In two of the three trials held so far, both the players are in first and second place.

  • Recently, a three-day international e-conference was organized by the Management Faculty of Rabindranath Tagore University, Bhopal through a virtual medium on Women Entrepreneurship Transformation, Initiation and Global Potential.

Swami Omanand Saraswati Museum

  • On March 6, 2022, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal inaugurated the construction work of Swami Omanand Saraswati Sangrahalaya, a collection center for historical facts in Jhajjar district and gave developmental schemes worth about Rs 78.47 crore dedicated to the development of the district.

  • Dedicated to the glorious life of Swami Omanand Saraswati, this archeological museum will be constructed at a cost of about Rs 100 crore in Sector 6 premises of Jhajjar.
  • With the construction of this archeological museum, where historical objects will be collected, the museum will also be helpful for the researchers in the research work related to archeology.
  • Along with this, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of projects worth Rs 34.25 crore and inaugurated development schemes worth Rs 44.22 crore.
  • He dedicated it to the residents of the district by inaugurating the newly constructed 18 beige bus stand in Bahadurgarh city, the newly constructed Revenue Colony in Sector 13 Bahadurgarh, the newly constructed Government Senior Secondary School building in village Kasar and the new building of Government High School constructed in Jakhoda village.

Process of Giving Direct Benefits of Schemes to Farmers Started

  • On March 7, 2022, Director of Agriculture, Jharkhand Nisha Oraon informed that the Agriculture Department has started the process of giving direct benefits of the schemes to all the farmers of Jharkhand.

  • Under this, farmers of women self-help groups formed by FPOs and JSLPS formed in the state will be given direct benefits of departmental schemes, so that middlemen can be eliminated.
  • All the eligible FPOs and women self-help groups formed by JSLPS will be listed by the Agriculture Department at the district level, who will be provided the benefits of departmental schemes in the form of package plans.
  • The meaning of the package scheme is that the women farmers from the Directorate of Horticulture, who will be provided vegetable seeds, mulching or poly houses for flower farming, will be given the benefit of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, which is being run by the Directorate of Agriculture. In this, the amount of grant is 90 and 80 percent.
  • Similarly, women farmers who will be provided with agricultural machinery, will also be provided seeds for vegetable cultivation. With such an effort, there will be an expected increase in the income of such FPOs and financially empowered women groups, as well as an increase in productivity will also be reflected.
  • Special initiative is being taken by the department for the empowerment of women farmers. Under this mapping of women oriented FPOs and SHGs with the schemes of Directorate of Agriculture and Horticulture is being done. In the financial year 2022-23, they will be given handholding and training along with the benefits of schemes, so that they can become self-reliant.

Kaushalya Matritva Yojana

Why in News

  • On March 7, 2022, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel launched the 'Kaushalya Matritva Yojana' by providing checks of Rs 5000 each to five beneficiaries for safe motherhood in a state-level women's conference held at BTI Ground in the capital Raipur.

Key Points

  • Under this scheme, there is a provision to give a lump sum assistance of Rs. 5 thousand to women beneficiaries on the birth of a second daughter. The scheme will help in the upbringing and education of the girl child.
  • The Chief Minister felicitated Anganwadi workers, who have done excellent work in Anganwadi services, self-help groups, who have made women financially independent by taking benefit of Chhattisgarh Mahila Kosh, at the state level women's conference.

1.70 Lakh Children Free From Malnutrition in Chhattisgarh

Why in News

  • In an official communication on March 6, 2022, it was told that due to 'Mukhyamantri Poshan Abhiyan' and various other schemes in Chhattisgarh, about 1.70 lakh children have become free from malnutrition in the last three years.

Key Points

  • According to the data of 'Vajan Utsav' (Wet Festival) organized by the Department of Women and Child Development from the year 2016 to 2022, the rate of malnutrition has declined by 10.27 percent. The rate of child malnutrition has come down from 30.13 percent to just 19.86 percent.
  • Under the 'Vajan Utsav', the department takes the weight of all the children in a particular period and determines the nutritional level during the Vaz Utsav. The state government has ensured that the data of the wet festival is also verified by external agencies.
  • On the other hand, according to the data of National Family Health Survey-5, malnutrition in Chhattisgarh is less than the national average. The national average for malnutrition is 32.1 percent while in Chhattisgarh it is 31.3 percent.
  • According to the National Family Health Survey-5, the level of malnutrition among children in Chhattisgarh is lower than in the states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, West Bengal, Assam, Karnataka, Jharkhand and Bihar.
  • Apart from this, according to the National Family Health Survey-4 2015-16, the rate of malnutrition in Chhattisgarh was 37.7 percent while the national average rate at that time was 35.8 percent.
  • It is noteworthy that 'Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan' was launched on October 2, 2019 to eliminate malnutrition and anemia prevalent among children below 6 years of age and anemia among women aged 15 to 49 years and positively improve their nutritional status. it was done.
